Realization of Sneutrino Self-interacting Dark Matter in the Focus Point Supersymmetry

The Lightest Supersymmetric Particle (LSP) is generally regarded as higgsino in focus point supersymmetry (SUSY). Under such circumstance it leads to bileptino LSP when the MSSM is extended by $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge group within the framework of Double Focus Point (DFP) supersymmetry. The bileptino is a copy of higgsino whose partner, bilepton, is used to break $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge symmetry spontaneously. Such scenario, however, is not favored by direct detection since it leads to unacceptable spin-independent cross section when one requires correct self-scattering cross section. We point out that is not necessarily the case even in the presence of light $Z^{\prime}$. The right-handed sneutrino in this model acts as LSP in most of parameter space for non-vanishing soft trilinear coupling $T_η$. It is thus consistent of the requirement of DFP SUSY without involving any direct detection issue. The corrected relic abundance could be achieved via sneutrino annihilate into pair of bilepton which also serve as light mediator in Self-Interacting Dark Matter (SIDM). Moreover, stringent constraint comes from CMB anisotropies can be evaded by considering retarded decay of right-handed neutrinos. We further stress the need for a large soft trilinear term $T_η$ in order to generate desirable self-scattering cross section $σ/m_{\tildeν_R}$ with moderate Yukawa coupling $Y_η$. The numerical calculation illustrates that SIDM is reliable in our model from the scales of dwarf galaxy to galaxy cluster.

Phenomenology of Colored Radiative Neutrino Mass Model and Its Implications on the Cosmic-ray Observations

We extend the colored Zee-Babu model with a gauged $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry and a scalar singlet dark matter (DM) candidate $S$. The spontaneous breaking of $U(1)_{B-L}$ leaves a residual $Z_2$ symmetry that stabilizes the DM and generates tiny neutrino mass at the two-loop level with the color seesaw mechanism. After investigating dark matter and flavor phenomenology of this model systematically, we further focus on its imprint on two of cosmic-ray anomalies: the Fermi-LAT gamma-ray excess at the Galactic Center (GCE) and the PeV ultra-high energy (UHE) neutrino events at the IceCube. We found that the Fermi-LAT GCE spectrum can be well fitted by DM annihilation into a pair of on-shell singlet Higgs mediators while being compatible with the constraints from relic density, direct detections as well as dwarf spheroidal galaxies in the Milky Way. Although the UHE neutrino events at the IceCube could be accounted for by resonance production of a TeV-scale leptoquark, the relevant Yukawa couplings have been severely limited by current low energy flavor experiments. We then derive the IceCube limits on the Yukawa couplings by employing its latest 6-year data.

Bayesian analysis of the break in DAMPE lepton spectra

Recently, DAMPE has released its first results on the high-energy cosmic-ray electrons and positrons (CREs) from about $25$ GeV to $4.6$ TeV, which directly detect a break at $\sim 1$ TeV. This result gives us an excellent opportunity to study the source of the CREs excess. In this work, we used the data fo proton and helium flux (from AMS-02 and CREAM), $\bar{\mathrm{p}}/\mathrm{p}$ ratio (from AMS-02), positron flux (from AMS-02) and CREs flux (from DAMPE without the peak signal point at $\sim 1.4$ TeV) to do global fitting simultaneously, which can account the influence from the propagation model, the nuclei and electron primary source injection and the secondary lepton production precisely. For extra source to interpret the excess in lepton spectrum, we consider two separate scenarios (pulsar and dark matter annihilation via leptonic channels) to construct the bump ($\gtrsim 100$ GeV) and the break at $\sim 1$ TeV. The result shows: (i) in pulsar scenario, the spectral index of the injection should be $ν_{\mathrm{psr}} \sim 0.65$ and the cut-off should be $R_{c} \sim 650$ GV; (ii) in dark matter scenario, the dark matter particle's mass is $m_χ \sim 1208$ GeV and the cross section is $\langle σv \rangle \sim 1.48 \times 10^{-23} \mathrm{cm}^{3} \mathrm{s}^{-1}$. Moreover, in the dark matter scenario, the $τ\barτ$ annihilation channel is highly suppressed, and a DM model is built to satisfy the fitting results.

Radiative Seesaw Model and DAMPE Excess from Leptophilic Gauge Symmetry

In the light of the $e^{+}+e^{-}$ excess observed by DAMPE experiment, we propose an anomaly-free radiative seesaw model with an alternative leptophilic $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry. In the model, only right-handed leptons are charged under $U(1)_X$ symmetry. The tiny Dirac neutrino masses are generated at one-loop level and charged leptons acquire masses though the type-I seesaw-like mechanism with heavy intermediate fermions. In order to cancel the anomaly, irrational $U(1)_{X}$ charge numbers are assigned to some new particles. After the spontaneous breaking of $U(1)_{X}$ symmetry, the dark $Z_{2}$ symmetry could appear as a residual symmetry such that the stability of inert particles with irrational charge numbers are guaranteed, naturally leading to stable DM candidates. We show that the Dirac fermion DM contained in the model can explain the DAMPE excess. Meanwhile, experimental constraints from DM relic density, direct detection, LEP and anomalous magnetic moments are satisfied.

Naturalness and a light $Z'$

Models with a light, additional gauge boson are attractive extensions of the standard model. Often these models are only considered as effective low energy theory without any assumption about an UV completion. This leaves not only the hierarchy problem of the SM unsolved, but introduces a copy of it because of the new fundamental scalars responsible for breaking the new gauge group. A possible solution is to embed these models into a supersymmetric framework. However, this gives rise to an additional source of fine-tuning compared to the MSSM and poses the question how natural such a setup is. One might expect that the additional fine-tuning is huge, namely, $O(M^2_{\rm SUSY}/m^2_{Z'})$. In this paper we point out that this is not necessarily the case. We show that it is possible to find a focus point behaviour also in the new sector in co-existence to the MSSM focus point. We call this 'Double Focus Point Supersymmetry'. Moreover, we stress the need for a proper inclusion of radiative corrections in the fine-tuning calculation: a tree-level estimate would lead to predictions for the tuning which can be wrong by many orders of magnitude. As showcase, we use the $U(1)_{B-L}$ extended MSSM and discuss possible consequence of the observed $^8\textrm{Be}$ anomaly. However, similar features are expected for other models with an extended gauge group which involve potentially large Yukawa-like interactions of the new scalars.

Hybrid Anomaly and Gravity Mediation for Electroweak Supersymmetry

We propose a hybrid mediation and hybrid supersymmetry breaking. In particular the RG-invariant anomaly mediation is considered. Together with additional gravity mediation the slepton tachyon problem of anomaly mediation is solved automatically. The special properties are that all of color sparticles masses fall into several TeV region due to the large $m_0$ and $m_{32}$ which are well beyond the scope of current LHC Run II limits. Unlike the gauge mediation, the dark matter candidate is still the lightest neutralino and the correct dark matter relic density can be realized within the framework of mixed axion-wino dark matter. Due to the existence of multi-component of axion-wino dark matter, the direct detection cross section is suppressed to evade the tightest LUX, PandaX bound. Furthermore the fine-tuning is under control when the single scale supersymmetry breaking mechanism is adapted.

Natural Supersymmetry from the Yukawa Deflect Mediations

The natural supersymmetry (SUSY) requires light stop quarks, light sbottom quark, and gluino to be around one TeV or lighter. The first generation squarks can be effectively large which does not introduce any hierarchy problem in order to escape the constraints from LHC. In this paper we consider a Yukawa deflect medation to realize the effective natural supersymmetry where the interaction between squarks and messenger are made natural under certain Frogget-Nelson $U(1)_X$ charge. The first generation squarks obtain large and postive contribution from the yukawa deflect mediation. The corresponding phenomenology as well as sparticle spectrum are discussed in detail.

Higgs Mass and Muon $g-2$ Anomaly in MSSM with Gauge-Gravity hybrid Mediation

In general, we can propose the hybrid supersymmetry breakings and hybrid mediations in the Supersymmetric Standard Models (SSMs). In this paper, we study the hybrid mediation for supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking. In particular, we study how to keep the good properties of gravity mediation, gauge mediation, and anomaly mediation, while solve their problems simultaneously. As an example, we consider the anomaly-gravity mediation, where all the supersymmetric particles (sparticles) obtain the SUSY breaking soft terms from the traditional gravity mediation while gauge mediation gives dominant contributions to the soft terms in the colored sector due to the splitted messengers. Thus, we can realize the electroweak supersymmetry naturally where the sleptons, sneutrinos, and electroweakinos are light within one TeV while the squarks and gluino are heavy around a few TeVs. And then we can explain 125 GeV Higgs mass, satisfy the LHC SUSY search bounds, and explain the anomalous magnetic momement of muon, etc. Moreover, the gluino and squarks are well beyond the current LHC Run II searches.

Interpreting $750$ GeV Diphoton Excess with R-parity Violating Supersymmetry

We propose an supersymmetric explanation of the diphoton excess in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with the leptonic R-parity violation. Where the sneutrino serves as the 750 GeV resonance and produced through quark anti-quark annihilation. With introducing appropriate trilinear soft parameters, we show that the diphoton branching ratio is significantly enhanced compared with the conventional MSSM. The parameter space favored by diphoton excess strongly indicates the mass of smuon and stau fall into the range $375-410$ (375-480) GeV, which depending on the electroweakino masses. In addition, the $R$-parity-violating trilinear couplings involved with second generation quarks are both favored by compatibility of diphoton excess and low-energy constraints.

Supersoft Supersymmetry, Conformal Sequestering, and Single Scale Supersymmetry Breaking

Supersymmetric Standard Models (SSMs) with Dirac gauginos have the appealing supersoft property that they only cause finite contributions to scalar masses. Considering gauge mediated SUSY breaking with conformal sequestering and assuming there is one and only one fundamental parameter with dimension mass arising from supersymmetry breaking, we find a cancellation between the dominant terms that contribute to the EWFT. The resulting EWFT measure can be of order one even for supersymmetric particle masses and $μ$-terms in the TeV range.

One laser pulse generates two photoacoustic signals

Photoacoustic sensing and imaging techniques have been studied widely to explore optical absorption contrast based on nanosecond laser illumination. In this paper, we report a long laser pulse induced dual photoacoustic (LDPA) nonlinear effect, which originates from unsatisfied stress and thermal confinements. Being different from conventional short laser pulse illumination, the proposed method utilizes a long square-profile laser pulse to induce dual photoacoustic signals. Without satisfying the stress confinement, the dual photoacoustic signals are generated following the positive and negative edges of the long laser pulse. More interestingly, the first expansion-induced photoacoustic signal exhibits positive waveform due to the initial sharp rising of temperature. On the contrary, the second contraction-induced photoacoustic signal exhibits exactly negative waveform due to the falling of temperature, as well as pulse-width-dependent signal amplitude which is caused by the concurrent heat accumulation and thermal diffusion during the long laser illumination. An analytical model is derived to describe the generation of the dual photoacoustic pulses, incorporating Gruneisen saturation and thermal diffusion effect, which is experimentally proved. Lastly, an alternate of LDPA technique using quasi-CW laser excitation is also introduced and demonstrated for both super-contrast in vitro and in vivo imaging. Compared with existing nonlinear PA techniques, the proposed LDPA nonlinear effect could enable a much broader range of potential applications.

Interpretation of 750 GeV Diphoton Excess at LHC in Singlet Extension of Color-octet Neutrino Mass Model

We propose that the possible 750 GeV diphoton excess can be explained in the color-octet neutrino mass model extended with a scalar singlet $Φ$. The model generally contains $N_s$ species of color-octet, electroweak doublet scalars $S$ and $N_f$ species of color-octet, electroweak triplet $χ$ or singlet $ρ$ fermions. While both scalars and fermions contribute to the production of $Φ$ through gluon fusion, only the charged members induce the diphoton decay of $Φ$. The diphoton rate can be significantly enhanced due to interference between the scalar and fermion loops. We show that the diphoton cross section can be from 3 to 10 fb for O(TeV) color-octet particles while evading all current LHC limits.

Systematic Study of Diphoton Resonance at 750 GeV from Sgoldstino

The ATLAS and CMS Collaborations of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have reported an excess of events in diphoton channel with invariant mass of about 750 GeV. With low energy supersymmetry breaking, we systematically consider the sgoldstino scalar $S$ as the new resonance, which is a linear combination of the CP-even scalar $s$ and CP-odd pseudoscalar $a$. Because we show that $s$ and $a$ can be degenerated or have large mass splitting, we consider two cases for all the following three scenarios: (1) Single resonance. $s$ is the 750 GeV resonance decays to a pair of 1 GeV pseudoscalar $a$. With suitable decay length, these two $a$ decay into collimated pair of photons which cannot be distinguished at the LHC and may appear as diphotons instead of four photons. (2) Twin resonances. $m_{s}\approx m_{a}$ with a mass difference of about 40 GeV and both $s$ and $a$ decay into diphoton pairs. For productions, we consider three scenarios: (I) vector boson fusion; (II) gluon gluon fusion; (III) $q{\bar q}$ pair production. In all these scenarios with two kinds of resonances, we find the parameter space that satisfies the diphoton production cross section from 3 to 13 ${\rm fb}$ and all the other experimental constraints. And we address the decay width as well. In particular, in the third scenario, we observe that the production cross section is small but the decay width of $s$ or $a$ can be from 40 to 60 GeV.

Radiative Neutrino Mass with $Z_3$ Dark matter: From Relic Density to LHC Signatures

In this work we give a comprehensive analysis on the phenomenology of a specific $\mathbb{Z}_3$ dark matter (DM) model in which neutrino mass is induced at two loops by interactions with a DM particle that can be a complex scalar or a Dirac fermion. Both the DM properties in relic density and direct detection and the LHC signatures are examined in great detail, and indirect detection for gamma-ray excess from the Galactic Center is also discussed briefly. On the DM side, both semi-annihilation and co-annihilation processes play a crucial role in alleviating the tension of parameter space between relic density and direct detection. On the collider side, new decay channels resulting from $\mathbb{Z}_3$ particles lead to distinct signals at LHC. Currently the trilepton signal is expected to give the most stringent bound for both scalar and fermion DM candidates, and the signatures of fermion DM are very similar to those of electroweakinos in simplified supersymmetric models.

A Promising Interpretation of Diphoton Resonance at 750 GeV

Recently, an excess of events in diphoton channel with invariant mass of about 750 GeV has been reported by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations. Considering it as a tantalizing hint for new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM), we propose a simple extension of the SM with an additional doublet Higgs $H^{'}$ and a singlet $s$. We consider the neutral component $H^{\prime }_0$ of $H'$ as the 750 GeV resonance, and assume that $s$ is lighter than 2.6 GeV. In particular, $H^{\prime }_0$ can be produced at tree level via $q{\bar q}$ production, and decay into a pair of $s$ at tree level. And then $s$ can decay into a pair of collimated photons, which cannot be distinguished at the LHC. We show that the diphoton production cross section can be from 3 to 13 ${\rm fb}$, the decay width of $H^{\prime }_0$ can be from 30 to 60 GeV, and all the current experimental constraints including dijet constraint can be satisfied.

LHC Phenomenology of the Type II Seesaw Mechanism: Observability of Neutral Scalars in the Nondegenerate Case

This is a sequel to our previous work on LHC phenomenology of the type II seesaw model in the nondegenerate case. In this work, we further study the pair and associated production of the neutral scalars H^0/A^0. We restrict ourselves to the so-called negative scenario characterized by the mass order M_{H^{\pm\pm}}>M_{H^\pm}>M_{H^0/A^0}, in which the H^0/A^0 production receives significant enhancement from cascade decays of the charged scalars H^{\pm\pm},~H^\pm. We consider three important signal channels---b\bar{b}γγ, b\bar{b}τ^+τ^-, $b\bar{b}\ell^+\ell^-\cancel{E}_T$---and perform detailed simulations. We find that at the 14 TeV LHC with an integrated luminosity of 3000/fb, a 5σmass reach of 151, 150, and 180 GeV, respectively, is possible in the three channels from the pure Drell-Yan H^0A^0 production, while the cascade-decay-enhanced H^0/A^0 production can push the mass limit further to 164, 177, and 200 GeV. The neutral scalars in the negative scenario are thus accessible at LHC run II.

The ATLAS Leptonic-$Z$ Excess from Light Squark Productions in the NMSSM Extension with a Heavy Dirac Gluino

The ATLAS Collaboration announced a 3$σ$ excess in the leptonic-$Z+jets+\met$ channel. We show that such an excess can be interpreted in the extension of the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM) with a heavy Dirac gluino and light squarks. The abundant $Z$ bosons can be produced by light squark pair productions with the subsequent decays $\tilde{q} \to q \tildeχ_2^0 \to q Z \tildeχ_1^0$. We investigate the relevant parameter space by considering the constraints from both the ATLAS and CMS direct SUSY searches. Our model can provide sufficient $Z$-signal events in large parameter space if only the ATLAS searches are considered. After combining the ATLAS and CMS searches, the maximal number of signal events can still reach about 15, which is within the $1σ$ region of the observed excess. For comparison, we study the conventional low energy NMSSM with a Majorana gluino and its maximal number of signal events are about 11, although we cannot realize such model in the known supersymmetry breaking scenarios.

The Supersymmetric Standard Models with a Pseudo-Dirac Gluino from Hybrid $F-$ and $D-$Term Supersymmetry Breakings

We propose the Supersymmetric Standard Models (SSMs) with a pseudo-Dirac gluino from hybrid $F-$ and $D-$term supersymmetry (SUSY) breakings. Similar to the SSMs before the LHC, all the supersymmetric particles in the Minimal SSM (MSSM) obtain the SUSY breaking soft terms from the traditional gravity mediation and have masses within about 1 TeV except gluino. To evade the LHC SUSY search constraints, the gluino also has a heavy Dirac mass above 3 TeV from $D-$term SUSY breaking. Interestingly, such a heavy Dirac gluino mass will not induce the electroweak fine-tuning problem. We realize such SUSY breakings via an anomalous $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry inspired from string models. To maintain the gauge coupling unification and increase the Higgs boson mass, we introduce extra vector-like particles. We study the viable parameter space which satisfies all the current experimental constraints, and present a concrete benchmark point. This kind of models not only preserves the merits of pre-LHC SSMs such as naturalness, dark matter, etc, but also solves the possible problems in the SSMs with Dirac gauginos due to the $F$-term gravity mediation.
