MATCHA: A Mathematica package for matching UV models onto HEFT

We present MATChing HEFT Amplitudes (MATCHA), a Mathematica package designed for leading-order (LO) matching of an ultraviolet (UV) model to the Higgs Effective Field Theory (HEFT). MATCHA performs the matching of non-decoupling effects of order $\mathcal{O}(1)$ to the LO HEFT lagrangian for an arbitrary number of Higgs fields. The main benefit of MATCHA is that it is built on existing packages such as FeynArts and FormCalc, which are familiar to the user, and directly benefits from the established features of these packages. In addition, MATCHA is designed to require minimal input from the user: solely the FeynRules output files and the desired order of expansion. Together, these features make MATCHA a practical tool for extracting the leading low-energy HEFT couplings that encode non-decoupling effects. A public release, including the code, documentation and an accompanying Mathematica notebook that reproduces the Real Singlet Extension example and serves as a template for new models, is available at https://cqc-phy.github.io/MATCHA-release.

Discerning EFTs through multi-Higgs production

In these proceedings we present the main results of [arXiv:2311.04280 [hep-ph]], where we explore the phenomenological implications of multi-Higgs boson production through longitudinal vector boson scattering within the framework of Effective Field Theories (EFTs). We derive compact expressions for effective tree-level amplitudes involving up to four final-state Higgs bosons. Subsequently, we compute total cross sections for scenarios relevant to the LHC, where we observe that the general Higgs Effective Theory (HEFT) prediction avoids the strong suppression found in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), typically expected to be several orders of magnitude smaller.

Production of two, three, and four Higgs bosons: where SMEFT and HEFT depart

In this article we study the phenomenological implications of multiple Higgs boson production from longitudinal vector boson scattering in the context of effective field theories. We find compact representations for effective tree-level amplitudes with up to four final state Higgs bosons. Total cross sections are then computed for scenarios relevant at the LHC in which we find the general Higgs Effective Theory (HEFT) prediction avoids the heavy suppression observed in Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT).

Redefining Higgs interactions at the TeV scale

We present a field redefinition that simplifies the Higgs Effective Field Theory Lagrangian for the Electroweak Symmetry Breaking Sector. This simplification produces the same on-shell scattering amplitudes while greatly reducing the number of contributing Feynman diagrams for $ωω\to n\times h$ processes (which approximate the $W_LW_L\to n\times h$ amplitudes at the TeV scale by means of the Equivalence Theorem).

SMEFT is falsifiable through multi-Higgs measurements (even in the absence of new light particles)

From the embedding of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) in the more general Higgs Effective Field Theory (HEFT), we expose correlations among the coefficients of the latter that, if found to be violated in future data, would lead to the experimental falsification of the SMEFT framework. These are derived from the necessary symmetric point of HEFT and analyticity of the SMEFT Lagrangian that allows the construction of the SMEFT expansion, as laid out by other groups, and properties at that point of the Higgs-flare function $\mathcal{F}(h)$ coupling Goldstone and Higgs bosons, of the Higgs potential $V(h)$ and of the Higgs-top quark coupling function $\mathcal{G}(h)$.
