Excitation function for natMo(p,x) reactions with covariance analysis

The excitation functions of proton induced reactions on natMo targets are measured using the activation technique followed by off-line {\gamma}-ray spectroscopy with improved precision. The experiment was performed at the BARC-TIFR Pelletron Linac Facility, Mumbai. Thin samples of natMo were irradiated with a proton beam of energies ranging from 13 to 22 MeV for measurements of various (p,x) cross sections, with an emphasis on the production of medical isotopes. The present data for 93mTc and 94gTc address and resolve the discrepancies in the existing data. The 93gTc radioisotope production is extracted with appropriate corrections for 93mTc contribution. While the measured cross sections for the production of 95gTc, 96g+mTc, 99mTc and 99Mo are consistent with the reported data, significant differences are observed for 89g+mZr. A comprehensive uncertainty analysis, including the correlation coefficients of the measured reaction cross sections is also presented.

Statistical analysis of proton induced reactions to generate recommended data for the production of medical radio-isotopes

Radio-isotopes produced via proton induced reaction holds special significance regarding nuclear medicine, astrophysical p-process, theragnostic and diagnostic processes. $^{76}$Br, $^{80m}$Br and $^{61}$Cu are positron emitter and they are useful in the functional studies via Positron Emission Tomography (PET), whereas $^{77}$Br bears the potential for the application in Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) which involves electron capture process. PET and SPECT have been in high application in medical physics, diagnostics, therapy and nuclear medicine. $^{99m}$Tc and $^{64}$Cu are two popular radionuclide which play important role in nuclear medicine, currently being used in bio-medical physics, bone scan, modern imaging, blood pool leveling, oncology and diagnosis of copper related diseases. This paper focus on the generation of recommended nuclear reaction cross sections for the production of some useful medical radio-isotopes using the experimental datasets obtained from EXFOR database and simulated datasets from nuclear reaction model codes TALYS-1.95 and EMPIRE-3.1.1. 95\% confidence interval has been implemented to ensure confidence and precision.

Fusion of 16O+165Ho at deep sub-barrier energies

Fusion cross-sections have been measured for the asymmetric system 16O+165Ho at energies near and deep below the Coulomb barrier with an aim to investigate the occurrence of fusion hindrance for the system. Fusion cross sections down to ~ 700 nb have been measured using the off-beam gamma-ray technique. The fusion cross sections have been compared with the coupled channel calculations. Although the onset of fusion hindrance could not be observed experimentally, an indication of a small deviation of the experimental fusion cross-sections with respect to the calculated cross-sections could be observed at the lowest energy measured. However, the energy onset of fusion hindrance has been obtained from the extrapolation technique and is found to be about 2 MeV below the lowest energy of the present measurement.
