Actions of Tensor Categories and Cylinder Braids

Categorial actions of braided tensor categories are defined and shown to be the right framework for a discussion of the categorial structure related to the group of braids in the cylinder. A Kauffman polynomial of links in the solid torus is constructed.

The Cylinder braiding of the quantum Weyl group of $sl_2$

Is is shown that the quantum Weyl group of $sl_2$ contains an element that is a cylinder twist, i.e. it gives rise to representations of the braid group of Coxeter type B.
