Conformal Dilaton Gravity and Warped Spacetimes in 5D

An exact time-dependent solution of a black hole is found in conformally invariant gravity on a warped Randall-Sundrum spacetime, by writing the metric $g_{μν}=ω^{\frac{4}{n-2}}\tilde g_{μν}$. Here $\tilde g_{μν}$ represents the "un-physical" spacetime and $ω$ the dilaton field, which will be treated on equal footing as any renormalizable scalar field. In the case of a five-dimensional warped spacetime, we write $ ^{(4)}{\tilde g_{μν}}=\barω^2{ ^{(4)}\bar g_{μν}}$ Both $ω$ and $\barω$ can be used to describe the different notion the in-going and outside observers have of the Hawking radiation by using different conformal gauge freedom. The disagreement about the interior of the black hole is explained by the antipodal map of points on the horizon. The free parameters of the solution can be chosen in such a way that $\bar g_{μν}$ is singular-free and topologically regular, even for $ω\rightarrow 0$. It is remarkable that the 5D and 4D effective field equations for the metric components and dilaton fields can be written in general dimension $ n= 4,5$. It is conjectured that, in context of quantization procedures in the vicinity of the horizon, unitarity problems only occur in the bulk at large extra-dimension scale. The subtraction point in an effective theory will be in the UV only in the bulk, because the use of a large extra dimension results in a fundamental Planck scale comparable with the electroweak scale.

On the BTZ Black Hole and the Spinning Cosmic String

We reviewed the Ba\u nados-Teitelboim-Zanelli (BTZ) black hole solution in connection with the spinning string solution. We find a new exact solution, which can be related to the $(2+1)$-dimensional spinning point particle solution. There is no need for a cosmological constant, so the solution can be up-lifted to $(3+1)$ dimensions. The exact solution in a conformal invariant gravity model, where the spacetime is written as $g_{μν}=ω^2 \tilde g_{μν}$, is horizon free and has an ergo-circle, while $\tilde g_{μν}$ is the BTZ solution. The dilaton $ω$ determines the scale of the model. In accordance with the spinning cosmic string solution, it is conjectured that the new solution can be linked to the mass of the interior of the spinning cosmic string.

On A 5-Dimensional Spinning Cosmic String

We present a numerical solution of a stationary 5-dimensional spinning cosmic string in the Einstein-Yang-Mills (EYM) model, where the extra bulk coordinate $ψ$ is periodic. It turns out that when $g_{ψψ}$ approaches zero, i.e., a closed time-like curve (CTC) would appear, the solution becomes singular. When a negative cosmological constant is incorporated in the model, the solution becomes regular everywhere with angle deficit$<2π$. However, the cosmic string-like object has not all the desired asymptotic properties of the counterpart Abelian Nielsen-Olesen string. When we use a two point boundary value routine with the correct cosmic string features far from the core, then again a negative $Λ$ results in an acceptable string-like solution. We also investigated the possibility of a Gott space time structure of the static 5D cosmic string. The matching condition yields no obstruction for an effective angle deficit. Moreover, by considering the angular momentum in bulk space, no helical structure of time is necessary. Two opposite moving 5D strings could, in contrast with the 4D case, fulfil the Gott condition.

Dyon Solution in Einstein-Yang-Mills Theory on a Cylindrical Symmetric Space Time with Cosmological Constant

We investigated numerically dyon-like solutions of the SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills system on a cylindrically symmetric space time with a cosmological constant. We find a new kind of behaviour not found in the spherically symmetric models. For positive values of $Λ$ we have an oscillatory behaviour of the magnetic component of the YM field around the r-axis, so there is an arbitrary number of nodes. For increasing positive $Λ$, the frequency increases also and the solution breaks down at finite radius, indicating a singularity. The electric component, however, approaches a constant value. After further increasing $Λ$, this global behaviour repeats itself at a larger r while the former singular behaviour disappears. For increasing negative $Λ$, the oscillatory behaviour disappears and the magnetic and electric components behave like the scalar and gauge field in the Abelian cosmic string model.

Melvin solution with a dilaton potential

We find new Melvin-like solutions in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with a Liouville-type dilaton potential. The properties of the corresponding solution in Freedman-Schwarz gauged supergravity model are extensively studied. We show that this configuration is regular and geodesically complete but do not preserve any supersymmetry. An exact solution describing travelling waves in this Melvin-type background is also presented.

High-Frequency Gravitational Waves from Spinning Non-Abelian Cosmic-Strings

We investigated the SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills system on a time-dependent non-diagonal cylindrical symmetric space-time. From the numerical investigation, wave-like solutions are found, consistent with the familiar string-like features. They possess an angle-deficit which depends on the initial form of the magnetic component of the YM field, i.e., the number of times it crosses the r-axis. The soliton-like behavior of the gravitational and YM waves show significant differences from the ones found in the Einstein-Maxwell system. The stability of the system is analyzed using the multiple-scale method. To first order a consistent set of equations is obtained.

High-Frequency Gravitational Waves from Hairy Black Holes

We investigated the stability of the spherically symmetric non-abelian (Bartnik-McKinnon) black hole solution of the SU(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills system using the multiple-scale analysis. It is found, in contrast with the vacuum situation, that a spherically symmetric oscillatory perturbation to second order cannot be constructed. The singular behavior of gravitational waves is induced by the coupling of the gravitational waves to the Yang-Mills waves.

Self-Gravitating Non-Abelian Cosmic String Solution

The coupled Einstein-Yang-Mills equations on a time dependent axially symmetric spacetime are investigated, without a priori any conditions on the gauge field. There is numerical evidence for the existence of a regular solution with the desired asymptotic features. Just as in the supermassive abelian counterpart model, the formation of a singularity at finite distance of the core of the string depends critically on a parameter of the model, i.e., the constant value of one of the magnetic components of the YM potentials. The multiple-scale method could supply decisive answers concerning the stability of the solution.

On the Causal Structure of Spinning Einstein-Yang-Mills-Higgs Strings

It is claimed that it will be exceedingly unlikely to obtain CTC's in the spacetime of a spinning EYMH-string. It is conjectured that the pathological problems concerning the induced angular momentum and helical structure of time that afflict the U(1)-gauge string, will be solved in the non-abelian YM string model. In the pure YM case we find regular solutions, which resembles the abelian counterpart solutions but without causality violating regions. Just as in the spherical symmetric case, there will be probably critical behavior of the field equations at the threshold of blackhole masses.
