Recent Developments within The Cosmic Ray Extremely Distributed Observatory (CREDO)

This contribution presents the recent research developments within the Cosmic Ray Extremely Distributed Observatory (CREDO) in the search for resolution of various scientific puzzles, ranging from fundamental physical questions to applications like the determination of earthquake precursors. The state-of-the art theoretical, numerical and computational aspects of these phenomena are addressed, as well as recent experimental developments for detection.

Simulation of the isotropic ultra-high energy photons flux in the solar magnetic field and a comparison with observations made by the HAWC and Fermi-LAT observatories

In this contribution we study the possibility of the formation of cosmic ray ensembles (CRE) created by the interaction of ultra-high energy (UHE) photons with the magnetic field of the Sun. The lack of observation of those UHE and the difficulties for their identification given the current methodologies motivates this study. We performed simulations using the PRESHOWER program in order to simulate the expected extensive air showers which might be spatially correlated generated upon entering the Earth's atmosphere. We found characteristic features like very thing and extremely elongates cascades of secondary photons with their corresponding energies spanning the entire cosmic range spectrum. Shower footprints are as large as hundreds of kilometres. An application of this study is the scenario of gamma-ray emission from the vicinity of the Sun as a result of ultra-high energy photon cascading in the solar magnetic field in order to understand recent observations made by the HAWC and Fermi-LAT observatories.

Can the quasi-molecular mechanism of recombination decrease the Hubble tension?

In the recently suggested non-standard, quasi-molecular mechanism of recombination, the presence of neighboring proton increases the ionization energy and decreases the final recombination rate of hydrogen. Both these two effects can lead to the larger value of the present expansion rate of the universe obtained using CMB data and standard cosmological model, and thus are able to reduce or resolve the Hubble tension problem. We note also that due to the quasi-molecular channel the recombination began earlier, what potentially can solve the sigma-eight tension, since the CMB-predicted value of the late matter density will be decreased.

Unexpected LIGO events and the Mirror World

We consider the possibility that LIGO events GW190521, GW190425 and GW190814 may have emerged from the mirror world binaries. Theories of star evolution predict so called upper and lower mass gaps and masses of these merger components lie in that gaps. In order to explain these challenging events very specific assumptions are required and we argue that such scenarios are order of magnitude more probable in mirror world, where star formation begins earlier and matter density can exceed 5 times the ordinary matter density.

Binary Neutron Star Mergers with Missing Electromagnetic Counterparts as Manifestations of Mirror World

We suggest that the major fraction of binary mergers, which might provide gravitational wave signal detectable by LIGO/Virgo, emerged from the hidden mirror sector. Mirror particles do not interact with an ordinary observer except gravitationally, which is the reason why no electromagnetic signals accompanying gravitational waves from mergers with components composed of mirror matter are expected. Therefore, if the dark matter budget of the universe is mostly contributed by the mirror particles, we predict that only about one binary neutron star (neutron star - black hole) merger out of ten, observable by LIGO/Virgo, in particular at favorable conditions relative to the line of sight, could be accompanied by prompt gamma ray burst and other electromagnetic signals suitable for follow up observations. It seems the list of candidate events recorded by LIGO/Virgo during third observational run supports our predictions.

Gravitational Waves from Mirror World

In this paper we consider the properties of the 10 confirmed by the LIGO Collaboration gravitational wave signals from the black hole mergers. We want to explain non-observation of electromagnetic counterpart and higher then expected merging rates of these events, assuming the existence of their sources in the hidden mirror universe. Mirror matter, which interacts with our world only through gravity, is a candidate of dark matter and its density can exceed ordinary matter density five times. Since mirror world is considered to be colder, star formation there started earlier and mirror black holes had more time to pick up the mass and to create more binary systems within the LIGO reachable zone. In total, we estimate factor of 15 amplification of black holes merging rate in mirror world with respect to our world, which is consistent with the LIGO observations.

LIGO Signals from the Mirror World

We want to explain non-observation of electromagnetic counterpart of currently confirmed ten gravitational wave signals from the black hole mergers assuming their existence in the hidden mirror universe. Totally we estimate a factor 10 amplification of black holes merging rate in mirror world with respect to our world, which is consistent with the LIGO observations.

The CKM unitarity problem: A trace of new physics at the TeV scale?

After the recent high precision determinations of $V_{us}$ and $V_{ud}$, the first row of the CKM matrix shows more than $4σ$ deviation from unitarity. Two possible scenarios beyond the Standard Model can be investigated in order to fill the gap. If a 4th quark $b'$ participates in the mixing, with $\vert V_{ub'} \vert \sim0.04$, then its mass should be no more than 6 TeV or so. A different solution can come from the introduction of the gauge horizontal family symmetry acting between the lepton families and spontaneously broken at the scale of about 6 TeV. Since the gauge bosons of this symmetry contribute to muon decay in positive interference with Standard Model, the Fermi constant is slightly smaller than the muon decay constant so that unitarity is recovered. Also the neutron lifetime problem, that is about $4σ$ discrepancy between the neutron lifetimes measured in beam and trap experiments, is discussed in the light of the these determinations of the CKM matrix elements.

Dirac and Maxwell equations in Split Octonions

The split octonionic form of Dirac and Maxwell equations are found. In contrast with the previous attempts these equations are derived from the octonionic analyticity condition and also we use different basis of the 8-dimensional space of split octonions.
