Rearranged Stochastic Heat Equations with an Entropy Gradient Structure

We extend a previously introduced one-dimensional diffusion model on the space of probability measures, defined via the rearranged stochastic heat equation by, penalizing the dynamics with an additional entropy-driven gradient-descent term. By means of a splitting argument, we prove that despite the opposite effects of rearrangement and entropy minimization, the resulting penalized stochastic heat equation is well defined. We study several properties of the associated dynamics and show, in particular, that solutions admit a density satisfying a corrected version of the Dean--Kawasaki equation. The smoothing properties established for the stochastic heat equation are shown to persist.

Stochastic Optimal Control for Systems with Drifts of Bounded Variation: A Maximum Principle Approach

We study a stochastic control problem for nonlinear systems governed by stochastic differential equations with irregular drift. The drift coefficient is assumed to decompose as $b(t,x,a)=b_1(t,x)+b_2(x)b_3(t,a)$, where $b_1$ is bounded and Borel measurable, $b_2$ has bounded variation, and $b_3$ is bounded and smooth. Under these minimal regularity assumptions, we establish a Pontryagin-type stochastic maximum principle. The analysis relies on new results for SDEs with random drift of bounded variation, including existence, uniqueness, and Malliavin-Sobolev differentiability of the state process. A key ingredient is an explicit representation of the first variation process obtained via integration with respect to the space-time local time of bounded variation processes. By combining a suitable approximation scheme with Ekeland's variational principle, and using a Garcia-Rodemich-Rumsey inequality to obtain a uniform control of the first variation, we derive the maximum principle. As an application, we derive an optimal corridor-type capital adjustment policy for an insurance surplus model.

Time discretization of Quadratic Forward-Backward SDEs with singular drifts

We investigate the convergence rate for the time discretization of a class of quadratic backward SDEs -- potentially involving path-dependent terminal values -- when coupled with non-standard Lipschitz-type forward SDEs. In our review of the explicit time-discretization schemes in the spirit of Pagès \& Sagna (see \cite{PaSa18}), we achieve an error control close to $\frac{1}{2}$, even under the modest assumptions considered in this work (see \cite{ChaRichou16}, for comparison). A central element of our approach is a thorough re-examination of Zhang's $L^2\text{-time regularity}$ of the martingale integrand $Z$ which follows from an extension of the first-order variational regularity for this class of singular forward-backward SDEs with non-uniform Cauchy-Lipschitz drivers. This is complemented by the recently introduced caracterisation of stochastic processes of {\it bounded mean oscillation} (abbreviated as $\bmo$) by K. Lê (see \cite{Le22}) which we used to derive an $L^p\text{-version}$ of the strong approximation of SDEs with singular drifts from Dareiotis \& Gerencsér (see \cite{DaGe20}). As such, this study addresses a crucial gap in the numerical analysis of forward-backward SDEs (FBSDEs). To our knowledge, for the first time, the impact of regularization by noise on Euler-Maruyama numerical schemes for singular forward SDEs has been successfully transferred to enhance the convergence rate of the discrete time approximations for solutions to backward SDEs.

Density Analysis for coupled forward-backward SDEs with non-Lipschitz drifts and Applications

We explore the existence of a continuous marginal law with respect to the Lebesgue measure for each component $(X,Y,Z)$ of the solution to coupled quadratic forward-backward stochastic differential equations (QFBSDEs) {for which the drift coefficient of the forward component is either bounded and measurable or Hölder continuous. Our approach relies on a combination of the existence of a weak {\it decoupling field} (see \cite{Delarue2}), the integration with respect to space time local time (see \cite{Ein2006}), the analysis of the backward Kolmogorov equation associated to the forward component along with an Itô-Tanaka trick (see \cite{FlanGubiPrio10})}. The framework of this paper is beyond all existing papers on density analysis for Markovian BSDEs and constitutes a major refinement of the existing results. We also derive a comonotonicity theorem for the control variable in this frame and thus extending the works \cite{ChenKulWei05}, \cite{DosDos13}. As applications of our results, we first analyse the regularity of densities of solution to coupled FBSDEs. In the second example, we consider a regime switching term structure interest rate models (see for e.g., \cite{ChenMaYin17}) for which the corresponding FBSDE has discontinuous drift. Our results enables us to: firstly study classical and Malliavin differentiability of the solutions for such models, secondly the existence of density of such solutions. Lastly we consider a pricing and hedging problem of contingent claims on non-tradable underlying, when the dynamic of the latter is given by a regime switching SDE (i.e., the drift coefficient is allowed to be discontinuous). We obtain a representation of the derivative hedge as the weak derivative of the indifference price function, thus extending the result in \cite{ArImDR10}.

Differentiability of quadratic forward-backward SDEs with rough drift

In this paper, we consider quadratic forward-backward SDEs (QFBSDEs), for {which} the drift in the forward equation does not satisfy the standard globally Lipschitz condition and the driver of the backward system {possesses} nonlinearity of type $f(|y|)|z|^2,$ where $f$ is any locally integrable function. We prove both the Malliavin and classical derivative of the QFBSDE and provide representations of these processes. We study a numerical approximation of this system in the sense of \cite{ImkDosReis} in which the authors assume that the drift is Lipschitz and the driver of the BSDE is quadratic in the traditional sense (i.e., $f$ is a positive constant). We show that the rate of convergence is the same as in \cite{ImkDosReis}
