A Robbins Monro algorithm for nonparametric estimation of NAR process with Markov-Switching: consistency

We consider nonparametric estimation for functional autoregressive processes with Markov switching. First, we study the case where complete data is available; i.e. when we observe the Markov switching regime. Then we estimate the regression function in each regime using a Nadaraya-Watson type estimator. Second, we introduce a nonparametric recursive algorithm in the case of hidden Markov switching regime. Our algorithm restores the missing data by means of a Monte-Carlo step and estimate the regression function via a Robbins-Monro step. Consistency of the estimators are proved in both cases. Finally, we present some numerical experiments on simulated data illustrating the performances of our nonparametric estimation procedure.

Penalized estimate of the number of states in Gaussian linear AR with Markov regime

We deal with the estimation of the regime number in a linear Gaussian autoregressive process with a Markov regime (AR-MR). The problem of estimating the number of regimes in this type of series is that of determining the number of states in the hidden Markov chain controlling the process. We propose a method based on penalized maximum likelihood estimation and establish its strong consistency (almost sure) without assuming previous bounds on the number of states.

Estimation in autoregressive models with Markov regime

In this paper we derive the consistency of the penalized likelihood method for the number state of the hidden Markov chain in autoregressive models with Markov regimen. Using a SAEM type algorithm to estimate the models parameters. We test the null hypothesis of hidden Markov Model against an autoregressive process with Markov regime.
