Celestial Regge theory

Exploiting the analytic properties of scattering amplitudes, we provide an alternative but equivalent definition of the standard Mellin transform used to obtain celestial correlation functions. From this representation, we identify a celestial dispersion relation that relates the reduced correlation function to the poles and discontinuities of the bulk amplitude, and we present a novel expansion for the celestial correlator from an integral transform of the Froissart-Gribov expansion on the bulk. By drawing an analogy with the standard CFT case, we define the celestial Regge limit and identify the relevant celestial CFT data in terms of the partial amplitudes governing the bulk Regge limit.

Universal sectors in superconformal defects

We study universal features of defect correlation functions in supersymmetric defect CFTs, focusing on four-point functions of the displacement supermultiplet. By perturbing the leading-order correlators at strong coupling, we derive constraints that identify the operators exchanged at next-to-leading order. From this, we determine the conditions under which four-point functions of defect insertions across different theories are equivalent, thereby establishing universality. We confirm these features in examples including the $1/2$ BPS line in $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM, $\mathcal{N}=2$ gauge theories and ABJM, up to the first subleading order in the strong-coupling expansion. We further analyze the $1/2$ BPS line in 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ Chern-Simons-matter theories, identifying the preserved defect algebra and the superdisplacement multiplet. Exploiting universality, we find the superdisplacement four-point functions of defect operators and extract the conformal data at first subleading order. Finally, we comment on the $1/3$ BPS Wilson line in ABJM, presenting initial results from the strong-coupling analysis.

Warped AdS$_3$ black hole thermodynamics and the charged Cardy formula

We revisit the thermodynamic properties of black holes with warped AdS$_3$ asymptotics in topologically massive gravity. The holographically dual theory, often referred to as warped CFT$_2$, exhibits a single copy of the Virasoro-Kac-Moody algebra. Consequently, the asymptotic density of states in the right-moving sector is described by the charged Cardy formula that we review in detail. By defining specific linear combinations of the gravitational thermodynamic potentials, we are able to present the gravitational left- and right-moving on-shell actions directly in the grand-canonical ensemble. This allows us to demonstrate that, apart from the charged Cardy behavior in the right-moving sector, the dual field theory exhibits an additional frozen left-moving state giving rise to non-zero entropy contribution. Our findings elucidate the nature of warped CFTs and reveal subtle yet fundamental differences from the existing literature.

Bootstrap of the defect 1/2 BPS Wilson lines in N=4 Chern-Simons-matter theories

We compute correlation functions of local operator insertions on the 1/2 BPS Wilson lines of N=4 Chern-Simons-matter theories in 3 dimensions. We study the algebra preserved by the defect CFT supported on the line, identify the superdisplacement multiplet and discuss some of its weak-coupling realizations. By employing a superspace description, we present the 4-point functions of the superdisplacement and show how they are determined by functions of cross-ratios. Within an analytic bootstrap approach, we derive these functions at leading and next-to-leading order at strong coupling, obtaining a result in agreement with appropriate orbifolds of the ABJM case considered in arXiv:2004.07849.

Black hole thermodynamics in natural variables: the BTZ case

It has been recently shown for a wide range of black hole solutions in 4 and 5 dimensions that it is useful to reorganize the conventional thermodynamics on the inner and outer horizons in terms of left- and right-moving variables. The insight of arXiv:2310.13437 regarding the split of variables was loosely inspired by the example of the BTZ black hole and the corresponding dual CFT$_2$ thermodynamics governed by the Cardy formula. Here we revisit the BTZ case and its generalizations in 3d gravity theories with higher derivative corrections, and show formally the applicability of the newly defined variables and their direct relation to the Cardy formula, which is not a priori guaranteed.
