Segre forms of singular metrics on vector bundles and Lelong numbers

Let $E\to X$ be a holomorphic vector bundle. We consider a class of a singular Hermitian metrics on $E$ with analytic singularities that contains all Griffiths negative such metrics. One can define, given a smooth reference metric $h_0$, a current $s(E,h,h_0)$ called the associated Segre form, which defines the expected Bott-Chern class and coincides with the usual Segre form of $h$ where it is smooth. We prove that $s(E,h,h_0)$ is the limit of the Segre forms of a sequence of smooth metrics if the metric is smooth outside the degeneracy locus, and in general as a limit of Segre forms of metrics with empty degeneracy locus. One can also define an associated Chern form $c(E,h,h_0)$. We prove that the Lelong numbers of $s(E,h,h_0)$ and $c(E,h,h_0)$ are integers if the singularities are integral, and non-negative for $s(E,h,h_0)$.

An explicit isomorphism of different representations of the Ext functor using residue currents

Let $\mathcal{F}$ be a coherent $\mathcal{O}_X$-module over a complex manifold $X$, and let $G$ be a vector bundle on $X$. We describe an explicit isomorphism between two different representations of the global $\DeclareMathOperator{\Ext}{Ext}\Ext$ groups $\DeclareMathOperator{\Ext}{Ext}\Ext^k(\mathcal{F},G)$. The first representation is given by the cohomology of a twisted complex in the sense of Toledo and Tong, and the second one is obtained from the Dolbeault complex associated with $G$. A key tool that we introduce for explicitly describing this isomorphism is a residue current associated with a twisted resolution of $\mathcal{F}$.

Global Chern currents of coherent sheaves and Baum Bott currents

We provide global extensions of previous results about representations of characteristic classes of coherent analytic sheaves and of Baum-Bott residues of holomorphic foliations. We show in the first case that they can be represented by currents with support on the support of the given coherent analytic sheaf, and in the second case, by currents with support on the singular set of the foliation. In previous works, we have constructed such representatives provided global resolutions of the appropriate sheaves existed. In this article, we show that the definition of Chern classes of Green and the associated techniques, which work on arbitrary complex manifolds without any assumption on the existence of global resolutions, may be combined with our previous constructions to yield the desired representatives. We also prove a transgression formula for such representatives, which is new even in the case when global resolutions exist. More precisely, the representatives depend on local resolutions of the sheaf, and on choices of metrics and connections on these bundles, i.e., the currents for two different choices differ by a current of the form $dN$, where $N$ is an explicit current, which in the first case above has support on the support of the given coherent analytic sheaf, and in the second case above has support on the singular set of the foliation.

Baum-Bott residue currents

Let $\mathscr{F}$ be a holomorphic foliation of rank $κ$ on a complex manifold $M$ of dimension $n$, let $Z$ be a compact connected component of the singular set of $\mathscr{F}$, and let $Φ\in \mathbb C[z_1,\ldots,z_n]$ be a homogeneous symmetric polynomial of degree $\ell$ with $n-κ< \ell \leq n$. Given a locally free resolution of the normal sheaf of $\mathscr{F}$, equipped with Hermitian metrics and certain smooth connections, we construct an explicit current $R^Φ_Z$ with support on $Z$ that represents the Baum-Bott residue $\text{res}^Φ(\mathscr{F}; Z)\in H_{2n-2\ell}(Z, \mathbb C)$ and is obtained as the limit of certain smooth representatives of $\text{res}^Φ(\mathscr{F}; Z)$. If the connections are $(1,0)$-connections and $\text{codim} Z\geq \ell$, then $R^Φ_Z$ is independent of the choice of metrics and connections. When $\mathscr{F}$ has rank one we give a more precise description of $R^Φ_Z$ in terms of so-called residue currents of Bochner-Martinelli type. In particular, when the singularities are isolated, we recover the classical expression of Baum-Bott residues in terms of Grothendieck residues.

Norm estimates for the $\bar\partial$-equation on a non-reduced space

We study norm-estimates for the $\bar\partial$-equation on non-reduced analytic spaces. Our main result is that on a non-reduced analytic space, which is Cohen-Macaulay and whose underlying reduced space is smooth, the $\bar\partial$-equation for $(0,1)$-forms can be solved with $L^p$-estimates.

Chern currents of coherent sheaves

Given a finite locally free resolution of a coherent analytic sheaf $\mathcal F$, equipped with Hermitian metrics and connections, we construct an explicit current, obtained as the limit of certain smooth Chern forms of $\mathcal F$, that represents the Chern class of $\mathcal F$ and has support on the support of $\mathcal F$. If the connections are $(1,0)$-connections and $\mathcal F$ has pure dimension, then the first nontrivial component of this Chern current coincides with (a constant times) the fundamental cycle of $\mathcal F$. The proof of this goes through a generalized Poincaré-Lelong formula, previously obtained by the authors, and a result that relates the Chern current to the residue current associated with the locally free resolution.

Chern forms of hermitian metrics with analytic singularities on vector bundles

We define Chern and Segre forms, or rather currents, associated with a Griffiths positive singular hermitian metric $h$ with analytic singularities on a holomorphic vector bundle $E$. The currents are constructed as pushforwards of generalized Monge-Ampère products on the projectivization of $E$. The Chern and Segre currents represent the Chern and Segre classes of $E$, respectively, and coincide with the Chern and Segre forms of $E$ and $h$, where $h$ is smooth. Moreover, our currents coincide with the Chern and Segre forms constructed by the first three authors and Ruppenthal in the cases when these are defined.

Residue currents and cycles of complexes of vector bundles

We give a factorization of the cycle of a bounded complex of vector bundles in terms of certain associated differential forms and residue currents. This is a generalization of previous results in the case when the complex is a locally free resolution of the structure sheaf of an analytic space and it can be seen as a generalization of the classical Poincaré-Lelong formula.

The $\bar\partial$-equation for $(p,q)$-forms on a non-reduced analytic space

On any pure $n$-dimensional, possibly non-reduced, analytic space $X$ we introduce the sheaves $\mathscr{E}_X^{p,q}$ of smooth $(p,q)$-forms and certain extensions $\mathscr{A}_X^{p,q}$ of them such that the corresponding Dolbeault complex is exact, i.e., the $\bar\partial$-equation is locally solvable in $\mathscr{A}_X$. The sheaves $\mathscr{A}_X^{p,q}$ are modules over the smooth forms, in particular, they are fine sheaves. We also introduce certain sheaves $\mathscr{B}_X^{n-p,n-q}$ of currents on $X$ that are dual to $\mathscr{A}_X^{p,q}$ in the sense of Serre duality. More precisely, we show that the compactly supported Dolbeault cohomology of $\mathscr{B}^{n-p,n-q}(X)$ in a natural way is the dual of the Dolbeault cohomology of $\mathscr{A}^{p,q}(X)$.

On a mixed Monge-Ampère operator for quasiplurisubharmonic functions with analytic singularities

We consider mixed Monge-Ampère products of quasiplurisubharmonic functions with analytic singularities, and show that such products may be regularized as explicit one parameter limits of mixed Monge-Ampère products of smooth functions, generalizing results of Andersson, Błocki and the last author in the case of non-mixed Monge-Ampère products. Connections to the theory of residue currents, going back to Coleff-Herrera, Passare and others, play an important role in the proof. As a consequence we get an approximation of Chern and Segre currents of certain singular hermitian metrics on vector bundles by smooth forms in the corresponding Chern and Segre classes.

A comparison formula for residue currents

Given two ideals $\mathcal{I}$ and $\mathcal{J}$ of holomorphic functions such that $\mathcal{I} \subseteq \mathcal{J}$, we describe a comparison formula relating the Andersson-Wulcan currents of $\mathcal{I}$ and $\mathcal{J}$. More generally, this comparison formula holds for residue currents associated to two generically exact Hermitian complexes together with a morphism between the complexes. One application of the comparison formula is a generalization of the transformation law for Coleff-Herrera products to Andersson-Wulcan currents of Cohen-Macaulay ideals. We also use it to give an analytic proof by means of residue currents of theorems of Hickel, Vasconcelos and Wiebe related to the Jacobian ideal of a holomorphic mapping.

Estimates for the $\bar{\partial}$-equation on canonical surfaces

We study the solvability in $L^p$ of the $\bar\partial$-equation in a neighborhood of a canonical singularity on a complex surface, a so-called du Val singularity. We get a quite complete picture in case $p=2$ for two natural closed extensions $\bar\partial_s$ and $\bar\partial_w$ of $\bar\partial$. For $\bar\partial_s$ we have solvability, whereas for $\bar\partial_w$ there is solvability if and only if a certain boundary condition $(*)$ is fulfilled at the singularity. Our main tool is certain integral operators for solving $\bar\partial$ introduced by the first and fourth author, and we study mapping properties of these operators at the singularity.

Explicit versions of the local duality theorem in $\mathbb{C}^n$

We consider versions of the local duality theorem in $\mathbb{C}^n$. We show that there exist canonical pairings in these versions of the duality theorem which can be expressed explicitly in terms of residues of Grothendieck, or in terms of residue currents of Coleff-Herrera and Andersson-Wulcan, and we give several different proofs of non-degeneracy of the pairings. One of the proofs of non-degeneracy uses the theory of linkage, and conversely, we can use the non-degeneracy to obtain results about linkage for modules. We also discuss a variant of such pairings based on residues considered by Passare, Lejeune-Jalabert and Lundqvist.

Residue currents and fundamental cycles

We give a factorization of the fundamental cycle of an analytic space in terms of certain differential forms and residue currents associated with a locally free resolution of its structure sheaf. Our result can be seen as a generalization of the classical Poincaré-Lelong formula. It is also a current version of a result by Lejeune-Jalabert, who similarly expressed the fundamental class of a Cohen-Macaulay analytic space in terms of differential forms and cohomological residues.

The $\bar{\partial}$-equation on a non-reduced analytic space

Let $X$ be a, possibly non-reduced, analytic space of pure dimension. We introduce a notion of $\overline{\partial}$-equation on $X$ and prove a Dolbeault-Grothendieck lemma. We obtain fine sheaves $\mathcal{A}_X^q$ of $(0,q)$-currents, so that the associated Dolbeault complex yields a resolution of the structure sheaf $\mathscr{O}_X$. Our construction is based on intrinsic semi-global Koppelman formulas on $X$.

Koppelman formulas on affine cones over smooth projective complete intersections

In the present paper, we study regularity of the Andersson-Samuelsson Koppelman integral operator on affine cones over smooth projective complete intersections. Particularly, we prove $L^p$- and $C^α$-estimates, and compactness of the operator, when the degree is sufficiently small. As applications, we obtain homotopy formulas for different $\overline{\partial}$-operators acting on $L^p$-spaces of forms, including the case $p=2$ if the varieties have canonical singularities. We also prove that the $\mathcal{A}$-forms introduced by Andersson-Samuelsson are $C^α$ for $α< 1$.

Chern forms of singular metrics on vector bundles

We study singular hermitian metrics on holomorphic vector bundles, following Berndtsson-P{ă}un. Previous work by Raufi has shown that for such metrics, it is in general not possible to define the curvature as a current with measure coefficients. In this paper we show that despite this, under appropriate codimension restrictions on the singular set of the metric, it is still possible to define Chern forms as closed currents of order 0 with locally finite mass, which represent the Chern classes of the vector bundle.

Elementary construction of residue currents associated to Cohen-Macaulay ideals

For a Cohen-Macaulay ideal of holomorphic functions, we construct by elementary means residue currents whose annihilator is precisely the given ideal. We give two proofs that the currents have the prescribed annihilator, one using the theory of linkage, and another using an explicit division formula involving these residue currents to express the ideal membership.
