Periodicity of Transcendental Entire Functions Sharing Set with their Shifts

This paper aims to study the periodicity of a transcendental entire function of hyper-order less than one. For a transcendental entire function of hyper order less than one and a non-zero complex constant $c$, $\mathfrak{f} (z) \equiv \mathfrak{f} (z + c)$ if they share a certain set with weight two.

A Note on the value distribution of some differential-difference monomials generated by a transcendental entire function of hyper-order less than one

Let $\mathfrak{f}$ be a transcendental entire function with hyper-order less than one. The aim of this note is to study the value distribution of the differential-difference monomials $\alpha \mathfrak{f}(z)^{q_0}(\mathfrak{f}(z+c))^{q_1}$, where $c$ is a non-zero complex number and $q_0\geq2,$ $q_1\geq 1$ are non-negative integers, and $ \alpha(z)$ $(\not\equiv 0,\infty)$ be a small function of $\mathfrak{f}$.

Effective theory for fusion of conformal defects

We construct an effective field theory for fusion of conformal defects of any codimension in $d\geq 3$ conformal field theories. We fully solve the constraints of Weyl invariance for defects of arbitrary shape on general curved bulk manifolds and discuss the simplifications that arise for spherical defects on the conformal sphere. As applications, we study the structure of cusp anomalous dimensions in the anti-parallel lines limit and derive high-energy spin-dependent asymptotics for the one-point functions of bulk operators. We point out the potential importance of defects that break transverse rotations and initiate a classification of their Weyl anomalies.

The defect b-theorem under bulk RG flows

It is known that for RG flows confined to a two-dimensional defect, where the bulk maintains its conformal nature, the coefficient of the Euler density in the defect's Weyl anomaly (termed b) cannot increase as the flow progresses from the ultraviolet to the infrared, a principle known as the b-theorem. In this paper, we investigate whether this theorem still holds when the bulk, instead of being critical, also undergoes an RG flow. To address this question, we examine two distinct and perturbatively tractable examples. Our analysis reveals that a straightforward extension of the b-theorem to these cases of RG flows fails.

State Dependence of Krylov Complexity in $2d$ CFTs

We compute the Krylov Complexity of a light operator $\mathcal{O}_L$ in an eigenstate of a $2d$ CFT at large central charge $c$. The eigenstate corresponds to a primary operator $\mathcal{O}_H$ under the state-operator correspondence. We observe that the behaviour of K-complexity is different (either bounded or exponential) depending on whether the scaling dimension of $\mathcal{O}_H$ is below or above the critical dimension $h_H=c/24$, marked by the $1st$ order Hawking-Page phase transition point in the dual $AdS_3$ geometry. Based on this feature, we hypothesize that the notions of operator growth and K-complexity for primary operators in $2d$ CFTs are closely related to the underlying entanglement structure of the state in which they are computed, thereby demonstrating explicitly their state-dependent nature. To provide further evidence for our hypothesis, we perform an analogous computation of K-complexity in a model of free massless scalar field theory in $2d$, and in the integrable $2d$ Ising CFT, where there is no such transition in the spectrum of states.

RG flows on two-dimensional spherical defects

We study two-dimensional spherical defects in d-dimensional Conformal Field Theories. We argue that the Renormalization Group (RG) flows on such defects admit the existence of a decreasing entropy function. At the fixed points of the flow, the entropy function equals the anomaly coefficient which multiplies the Euler density in the defect's Weyl anomaly. Our construction demonstrates an alternative derivation of the irreversibility of RG flows on two-dimensional defects. Moreover in the case of perturbative RG flows, the entropy function decreases monotonically and plays the role of a C-function. We provide a simple example to explicitly work out the RG flow details in the proposed construction.

A model of persistent breaking of continuous symmetry

We consider a UV-complete field-theoretic model in general dimensions, including $d=2+1$, that exhibits spontaneous breaking of continuous symmetry, persisting to arbitrarily large temperatures. Our model consists of two copies of the long-range vector models, with $O(m)$ and $O(N-m)$ global symmetry groups, perturbed by double-trace operators. Using conformal perturbation theory we find weakly-coupled IR fixed points for $N\geq 6$ that reveal a spontaneous breaking of global symmetry. Namely, at finite temperature the lower rank group is broken, with the pattern persisting at all temperatures due to scale-invariance. We provide evidence that the models in question are unitary and invariant under full conformal symmetry. Our work generalizes recent results, which considered the particular case of $m=1$ and reported persistent breaking of the discrete $\mathbb{Z}_2=O(1)$. Furthermore, we show that this model exhibits a continuous family of weakly interacting field theories at finite $N$.

Long-range fermions and critical dualities

We construct long-range fermionic models with the Gross-Neveu and Gross-Neveu-Yukawa interaction, and argue that their critical regimes are equivalent. To this end, we calculate various CFT data in $ε$- and $1/N$- expansion, and demonstrate their agreement in the overlapping regimes of validity.

Sextic tensor field theories in rank $3$ and $5$

We study bosonic tensor field theories with sextic interactions in $d<3$ dimensions. We consider two models, with rank-3 and rank-5 tensors, and $U(N)^3$ and $O(N)^5$ symmetry, respectively. For both of them we consider two variations: one with standard short-range free propagator, and one with critical long-range propagator, such that the sextic interactions are marginal in any $d<3$. We derive the set of beta functions at large $N$, compute them explicitly at four loops, and identify the respective fixed points. We find that only the rank-3 models admit a melonic interacting fixed points, with real couplings and critical exponents: for the short-range model, we have a Wilson-Fisher fixed point with couplings of order $\sqrtε$, in $d=3-ε$; for the long-range model, instead we have for any $d<3$ a line of fixed points, parametrized by a real coupling $g_1$ (associated to the so-called wheel interaction). By standard conformal field theory methods, we then study the spectrum of bilinear operators associated to such interacting fixed points, and we find a real spectrum for small $ε$ or small $g_1$.

Long-Range Vector Models at Large N

We calculate various CFT data for the $O(N)$ vector model with the long-range interaction, working at the next-to-leading order in the $1/N$ expansion. Our results provide additional evidence for the existence of conformal symmetry at the long-range fixed point, as well as the continuity of the CFT data at the long-range to short-range crossover point $s_\star$ of the exponent parameter $s$. We also develop the $N>1$ generalization of the recently proposed IR duality between the long-range and the deformed short-range models, providing further evidence for its non-perturbative validity in the entire region $d/2<s<s_\star$.

The bi-conical vector model at $1/N$

We study finite $N$ aspects of the $O(m)\times O(N-m)$ vector model with quartic interactions in general $2\leq d \leq 6$ spacetime dimensions. This model has recently been shown to display the phenomenon of persistent symmetry breaking at a perturbative Wilson-Fisher-like fixed point in $d=4-ε$ dimensions. The large rank limit of the bi-conical model displays a conformal manifold and a moduli space of vacua. We find a set of three double trace scalar operators that are respectively irrelevant, relevant and marginal deformations of the conformal manifold in general $d$. We calculate the anomalous dimensions of the single and multi-trace scalar operators to the first sub-leading order in the large rank expansion. The anomalous dimension of the marginal operator does not vanish in general, indicating that the conformal manifold is lifted at finite $N$. In the case of equal ranks we are able to derive explicitly the scaling dimensions of various operators as functions of only $d$.

Conformal correlators in the critical $O(N)$ vector model

We calculate a set of conformal correlators in the critical $O(N)$ vector model in $2<d<6$ dimensions. We focus on the correlators involving the Hubbard-Stratonovich field $s$, and its composite form $s^2$. In the process, we report a number of new calculations of diagrams involving the composite $s^2$ operator. Through the calculation of the $\langle s^2s^2s\rangle$ three-point function, we shed new light on a conjectured $s\rightarrow -s$ symmetry in the $s$ sector of the critical $O(N)$ vector model in $d=3$.

CFT data in the Gross-Neveu model

We calculate CFT data for the Gross-Neveu model in $2<d<4$ dimensions at the next-to-leading order in the $1/N$ expansion. In particular, we make use of the background field method to derive various conformal triangles involving the composite operator $s^2$, for the Hubbard-Stratonovich field $s$. We then apply these conformal triangles to obtain the corresponding OPE coefficients.

Melonic Dominance in Subchromatic Sextic Tensor Models

We study tensor models based on $O(N)^r$ symmetry groups constructed out of rank-$r$ tensors with order-$q$ interaction vertices. We refer to those tensor models for which $r<q-1$ as \textit{subchromatic}. We focus most of our attention on sextic ($q=6$) models with maximally-single-trace interactions. We show that only three subchromatic sextic maximally-single-trace interaction vertices exist: these are the $r=3$ prism, the $r=3$ wheel (or $K_{3,3}$) and the $r=4$ octahedron. For theories based on these interactions we demonstrate that the set of Feynman diagrams that contribute to the free energy in the large $N$ limit are melonic (or closely related to melonic diagrams, in the case of the prism) and thus can be explicitly summed.

Dual Superconformal Symmetry of ${\cal N}=2$ Chern-Simons theory with Fundamental Matter at Large $N$

Dual conformal symmetry and Yangian symmetry are symmetries of amplitudes that have aided the study of scattering amplitudes in highly supersymmetric theories like ${\cal N}=4$ SYM and ABJM. However, in general such symmetries are absent from the theories with lesser or no supersymmetry. In this paper, we show that the tree level $2\to 2$ scattering amplitude in the 3d ${\cal N}=2$ Chern-Simons theory coupled to a fundamental chiral multiplet is dual superconformal invariant. In the 't Hooft large $N$ limit, the $2\to 2$ scattering amplitude in this theory has been shown to be tree-level exact in non-anyonic channels, while having only an overall multiplicative coupling dependent renormalisation in the anyonic channel. Therefore, the dual superconformal symmetry that we demonstrate in this paper is all loop exact. This is unlike the previously studied highly supersymmetric theories where dual superconformal symmetry is anomalous at loop levels. Furthermore, we reverse the argument to study the extent to which dual superconformal invariance fixes the scattering amplitude in an ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetric theory. We demonstrate that requiring the dual superconformal invariance completely fixes the momentum dependence of the $2\to2$ amplitude, while the coupling constant dependence remain unfixed. Further, we use a combination of parity invariance, unitarity and self-duality of the amplitude to constrain the coupling dependence of scattering amplitude.

Spectral Form Factor in Non-Gaussian Random Matrix Theories

We consider Random Matrix Theories with non-Gaussian potentials that have a rich phase structure in the large $N$ limit. We calculate the Spectral Form Factor (SFF) in such models and present them as interesting examples of dynamical models that display multi-criticality at short time-scales and universality at large time scales. The models with quartic and sextic potentials are explicitly worked out. The disconnected part of the Spectral Form Factor (SFF) shows a change in its decay behavior exactly at the critical points of each model. The dip-time of the SFF is estimated in each of these models. The late time behavior of all polynomial potential matrix models is shown to display a certain universality. This is related to the universality in the short distance correlations of the mean-level densities. We speculate on the implications of such universality for chaotic quantum systems including the SYK model.

A Complex Fermionic Tensor Model in $d$ Dimensions

In this note, we study a melonic tensor model in $d$ dimensions based on three-index Dirac fermions with a four-fermion interaction. Summing the melonic diagrams at strong coupling allows one to define a formal large-$N$ saddle point in arbitrary $d$ and calculate the spectrum of scalar bilinear singlet operators. For $d=2-ε$ the theory is an infrared fixed point, which we find has a purely real spectrum that we determine numerically for arbitrary $d<2$, and analytically as a power series in $ε$. The theory appears to be weakly interacting when $ε$ is small, suggesting that fermionic tensor models in 1-dimension can be studied in an $ε$ expansion. For $d>2$, the spectrum can still be calculated using the saddle point equations, which may define a formal large-$N$ ultraviolet fixed point analogous to the Gross-Neveu model in $d>2$. For $2<d<6$, we find that the spectrum contains at least one complex scalar eigenvalue (similar to the complex eigenvalue present in the bosonic tensor model recently studied by Giombi, Klebanov and Tarnopolsky) which indicates that the theory is unstable. We also find that the fixed point is weakly-interacting when $d=6$ (or more generally $d=4n+2$) and has a real spectrum for $6<d<6.14$ which we present as a power series in $ε$ in $6+ε$ dimensions.

Higher-point conformal blocks and entanglement entropy in heavy states

We consider conformal blocks of two heavy operators and an arbitrary number of light operators in a (1+1)-d CFT with large central charge. Using the monodromy method, these higher-point conformal blocks are shown to factorize into products of 4-point conformal blocks in the heavy-light limit for a class of OPE channels. This result is reproduced by considering suitable worldline configurations in the bulk conical defect geometry. We apply the CFT results to calculate the entanglement entropy of an arbitrary number of disjoint intervals for heavy states. The corresponding holographic entanglement entropy calculated via the minimal area prescription precisely matches these results from CFT. Along the way, we briefly illustrate the relation of these conformal blocks to Riemann surfaces and their associated moduli space.
