On the motive of Kapustka-Rampazzo's Calabi-Yau threefolds

Kapustka and Rampazzo have exhibited pairs of Calabi-Yau threefolds $X$ and $Y$ that are L-equivalent and derived equivalent, without being birational. We complete the picture by showing that $X$ and $Y$ have isomorphic Chow motives.

On the motive of intersections of two Grassmannians in ${\mathbb{P}}^9$

Using intersections of two Grassmannians in ${\mathbb{P}}^9$, Ottem-Rennemo and Borisov-Căldăraru-Perry have exhibited pairs of Calabi-Yau threefolds $X$ and $Y$ that are deformation equivalent, L-equivalent and derived equivalent, but not birational. To complete the picture, we show that $X$ and $Y$ have isomorphic Chow motives.

A remark on the Chow ring of Sicilian surfaces

We propose a "Bloch type" conjecture for surfaces: if the cup product map in coherent cohomology is zero, then all intersections of homologically trivial divisors should be zero in the Chow group of zero-cycles. We prove this conjecture for Sicilian surfaces.

On the Chow groups of some hyperkaehler fourfolds with a non-symplectic involution II

This article is about hyperkähler fourfolds $X$ admitting a non-symplectic involution $ι$. The Bloch-Beilinson conjectures predict the way $ι$ should act on certain pieces of the Chow groups of $X$. The main result is a verification of this prediction for Fano varieties of lines on certain cubic fourfolds. This has some interesting consequences for the Chow ring of the quotient $X/ι$.

Algebraic cycles on a very special EPW sextic

Motivated by the Beauville-Voisin conjecture about Chow rings of powers of $K3$ surfaces, we consider a similar conjecture for Chow rings of powers of EPW sextics. We prove part of this conjecture for the very special EPW sextic studied by Donten-Bury et alii. We also prove some other results concerning the Chow groups of this very special EPW sextic, and of certain related hyperkähler fourfolds.

Algebraic cycles and EPW cubes

Let $X$ be a hyperkähler variety with an anti-symplectic involution $ι$. According to Beauville's conjectural "splitting property", the Chow groups of $X$ should split in a finite number of pieces such that the Chow ring has a bigrading. The Bloch-Beilinson conjectures predict how $ι$ should act on certain of these pieces of the Chow groups. We verify part of this conjecture for a $19$-dimensional family of hyperkähler sixfolds that are "double EPW cubes" (in the sense of Iliev-Kapustka-Kapustka-Ranestad). This has interesting consequences for the Chow ring of the quotient $X/ι$, which is an "EPW cube" (in the sense of Iliev-Kapustka-Kapustka-Ranestad).

On complete intersections in varieties with finite-dimensional motive

Let $X$ be a complete intersection inside a variety $M$ with finite dimensional motive and for which the Lefschetz-type conjecture $B(M)$ holds. We show how conditions on the niveau filtration on the homology of $X$ influence directly the niveau on the level of Chow groups. This leads to a generalization of Voisin's result. The latter states that if $M$ has trivial Chow groups and if $X$ has non-trivial variable cohomology parametrized by $c$-dimensional algebraic cycles, then the cycle class maps $A_k(X) \to H_{2k}(X)$ are injective for $k<c$. We give variants involving group actions which lead to several new examples with finite dimensional Chow motives.

On Voisin's conjecture for zero-cycles on hyperkaehler varieties

Motivated by the Bloch-Beilinson conjectures, Voisin has made a conjecture concerning zero-cycles on self-products of Calabi-Yau varieties. We reformulate Voisin's conjecture in the setting of hyperkähler varieties, and we prove this reformulated conjecture for one family of hyperkähler fourfolds.

Some Calabi-Yau fourfolds verifying Voisin's conjecture

Motivated by the Bloch-Beilinson conjectures, Voisin has made a conjecture concerning the behaviour of zero-cycles on self-products of Calabi-Yau varieties. This note contains some examples of Calabi-Yau fourfolds verifying Voisin's conjecture.

A family of cubic fourfolds with finite-dimensional motive

We prove that cubic fourfolds in a certain 10-dimensional family have finite-dimensional motive. The proof is based on the van Geemen-Izadi construction of an algebraic Kuga-Satake correspondence for these cubic fourfolds, combined with Voisin's method of "spread". Some consequences are given.

Some cubics with finite-dimensional motive

This small note presents in any dimension a family of cubics that have finite-dimensional motive (in the sense of Kimura). As an illustration, we verify a conjecture of Voevodsky for these cubics, and a conjecture of Murre for the Fano variety of lines of these cubics.

A remark on Beauville's splitting property

Let $X$ be a hyperkähler variety. Beauville has conjectured that a certain subring of the Chow ring of $X$ should inject into cohomology. This note proposes a similar conjecture for the ring of algebraic cycles on $X$ modulo algebraic equivalence: a certain subring (containing divisors and codimension $2$ cycles) should inject into cohomology. We present some evidence for this conjecture.

A remark on the Chow ring of some hyperkähler fourfolds

Let $X$ be a hyperkähler variety. Voisin has conjectured that the classes of Lagrangian constant cycle subvarieties in the Chow ring of $X$ should lie in a subring injecting into cohomology. We study this conjecture for the Fano variety of lines on a very general cubic fourfold.

Bloch's conjecture for Enriques varieties

Enriques varieties have been defined as higher-dimensional generalizations of Enriques surfaces. Bloch's conjecture implies that Enriques varieties should have trivial Chow group of zero-cycles. We prove this is the case for all known examples of irreducible Enriques varieties of index larger than $2$. The proof is based on results concerning the Chow motive of generalized Kummer varieties.

Algebraic cycles on Fano varieties of some cubics

This note is about cycle-theoretic properties of the Fano variety of lines on a smooth cubic fivefold. The arguments are based on the fact that this Fano variety has finite-dimensional motive. We also present some results concerning Chow groups of Fano varieties of lines on certain cubics in other dimensions.

Voisin's Conjecture for Zero--cycles on Calabi--Yau Varieties and their Mirrors

We study a conjecture, due to Voisin, on 0-cycles on varieties with $p_g=1$. Using Kimura's finite dimensional motives and recent results of Vial's on the refined (Chow-)Künneth decomposition, we provide a general criterion for Calabi-Yau manifolds of dimension at most $5$ to verify Voisin's conjecture. We then check, using in most cases some cohomological computations on the mirror partners, that the criterion can be successfully applied to various examples in each dimension up to $5$.
