Extrapolation of compactness on weighted mixed Lebesgue spaces

A version of the Fr\'echet-Kolmogorov theorem for the compactness of operators in weighted mixed Lebesgue spaces is proved and a corresponding compact extrapolation theory a la Rubio de Francia is developed. Several applications are presented too.

Compact bilinear operators and paraproducts revisited

We present a new proof of the compactness of bilinear paraproducts with CMO symbols. By drawing an analogy to compact linear operators, we first explore further properties of compact bilinear operators on Banach spaces and present examples. We then prove compactness of bilinear paraproducts with CMO symbols by combining one of the properties of compact bilinear operators thus obtained with vanishing Carleson measure estimates and interpolation of bilinear compactness.

Compact $T(1)$ theorem \`a la Stein

We prove a compact $T(1)$ theorem, involving quantitative estimates, analogous to the quantitative classical $T(1)$ theorem due to Stein. We also discuss the $C_c^\infty$-to-$CMO$ mapping properties of non-compact Calder\'on-Zygmund operators.

John-Nirenberg Inequalities and Weight Invariant BMO Spaces

This work explores new deep connections between John-Nirenberg type inequalities and Muckenhoupt weight invariance for a large class of $BMO$-type spaces. The results are formulated in a very general framework in which $BMO$ spaces are constructed using a base of sets, used also to define weights with respect to a non-negative measure (not necessarily doubling), and an appropriate oscillation functional. This includes as particular cases many different function spaces on geometric settings of interest. As a consequence the weight invariance of several $BMO$ and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces considered in the literature is proved. Most of the invariance results obtained under this unifying approach are new even in the most classical settings.

Compact bilinear commutators: the weighted case

Commutators of bilinear Calderón-Zygmund operators and multiplication by functions in a certain subspace of the space of functions of bounded mean oscillations are shown to be compact on appropriate products of weighted Lebesgue spaces.

Compactness properties of commutators of bilinear fractional integrals

Commutators of a large class of bilinear operators and multiplication by functions in a certain subspace of the space of functions of bounded mean oscillations are shown to be jointly compact. Under a similar commutation, fractional integral versions of the bilinear Hilbert transform yield separately compact operators.

The multilinear strong maximal function

A multivariable version of the strong maximal function is introduced and a sharp distributional estimate for this operator in the spirit of the Jessen, Marcinkiewicz, and Zygmund theorem is obtained. Conditions that characterize the boundedness of this multivariable operator on products of weighted Lebesgue spaces equipped with multiple weights are obtained. Results for other multi(sub)linear maximal functions associated with bases of open sets are studied too. Certain bilinear interpolation results between distributional estimates, such as that obtained for the multivariable strong maximal function, are also proved.

Rubio de Francia's extrapolation theory: estimates for the distribution function

Let $T$ be an arbitrary operator bounded from $L^{p_0}(w)$ into $L^{p_0, \infty}(w)$ for every weight $w$ in the Muckenhoupt class $A_{p_0}$. It is proved in this article that the distribution function of $Tf$ with respect to any weight $u$ can be essentially majorized by the distribution function of $Mf$ with respect to $u$ (plus an integral term easy to control). As a consequence, well-known extrapolation results, including results in a multilinear setting, can be obtained with very simple proofs. New applications in extrapolation for two-weight problems and estimates on rearrangement invariant spaces are established too.

Sharp weighted bounds for fractional integral operators

The relationship between the operator norms of fractional integral operators acting on weighted Lebesgue spaces and the constant of the weights is investigated. Sharp boundsare obtained for both the fractional integral operators and the associated fractional maximal functions. As an application improved Sobolev inequalities are obtained. Some of the techniques used include a sharp off-diagonal version of the extrapolation theorem of Rubio de Francia and characterizations of two-weight norm inequalities.

On the Hörmander classes of bilinear pseudodifferential operators

Bilinear pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the bilinear analog of all the Hörmander classes are considered and the possibility of a symbolic calculus for the transposes of the operators in such classes is investigated. Precise results about which classes are closed under transposition and can be characterized in terms of asymptotic expansions are presented. This work extends the results for more limited classes studied before in the literature and, hence, allows the use of the symbolic calculus (when it exists) as an alternative way to recover the boundedness on products of Lebesgue spaces for the classes that yield operators with bilinear Calderón-Zygmund kernels. Some boundedness properties for other classes with estimates in the form of Leibniz' rule are presented as well.
