Hermitian formulation for mass dimension one fermions: Flat and curved space-times

Throughout this paper, we conduct our discussion by a partial review of Elko's Hermiticity, introducing the Hermitian formulation for interacting mass dimension one fermions based on Elko spinor. It includes pivotal observations about renormalizability and the study of some allowed interactions. Beyond these points, since dark-matter phenomenology is mainly connected to gravitation, we introduce original remarks on how the Hermitian prescription can be readily generalized to include curved space-time, considering the very definition of the Elko spinor structure. We establish the Elko dual as arising from the path-integral formulation of a more fundamental structure. It enables one to include a curved background space-time and also quantum gravity into our investigations.

A Covariant Framework for Generalized Spinor Dual Structures

In this work, we propose a novel framework for defining the dual structure of a spinor. This construction relies on the basis elements of the Clifford algebra, leading to a covariant structure that embeds the dual. The formulation includes free parameters that may be adjusted to meet specific requirements. Remarkably, it enables the explicit construction of representatives for each class within a recently proposed general classification of spinors. In addition to recovering known results, the formalism paves the way for the development of potential new theories in a manifestly covariant setting.

Unraveling the Physical Meaning Behind Elko's Dual structure

In this work, we shall analyze the necessity of a proper definition of the dual structure for Elko spinors, and singular spinors in general. We examine in detail why the Dirac dual structure fails and it is not functional for these cases, highlighting all the physical consequences of this misdirection. The approach considered here is different from the one usually taken in current literature. We pinpoint the shortcomings that this dual structure brings to particle interpretation, and propagator structure, as well as the implications in non-locality, and the existence of negative energy levels. This investigation furnishes a background for the successful achievements in the field associated with such proper dual formulation.

General Spin Sums in Quantum Field Theory

In Quantum Field Theory, scattering amplitudes are computed from propagators which, for internal lines, are built upon spin/polarization-sum relationships. In turn, these are normally constructed upon plane-wave solutions of the free field equations. A question that may now arise is whether such spin/polarization-sums can be generalized. In the past, there has been a first attempt at generalizing spin sums for fermionic fields in terms of the Michel-Wightman identities. In this paper, we aim to find the most general spin sums for fermionic fields within the range of QFT.

Propagators Beyond The Standard Model

In this paper, we explore the field propagator with a structure that is general enough to encompass both the case of newly-defined mass-dimension $1$ fermions and spin-$1/2$ bosons. The method we employ is to define a map between spinors of different Lounesto classes, and then write the propagator in terms of the corresponding dual structures.

Exploiting new classes of mass-dimension one fermions

In this paper, we advance in investigating a specific set of eigenvectors of a linearly-independent square root of the identity matrix to obtain a new class of spin-half mass-dimension one fermions. Such eigenvectors, after an appropriated dual structure examination, may serve as expansion coefficients of a local field.

The Most General Propagator in Quantum Field Theory

One of the most important mathematical tools necessary for Quantum Field Theory calculations is the field propagator. Applications are always done in terms of plane waves and although this has furnished many magnificent results, one may still be allowed to wonder what is the form of the most general propagator that can be written. In the present paper, by exploiting what is called polar form, we find the most general propagator in the case of spinors, whether regular or singular, and we give a general discussion in the case of vectors.

Spin-half fermions endowed with bosonic traces -- Towards phases and classes

This article focuses on investigating all the possible choices of the phase factor present in the quite recent (unconventional) spin-half particles, looking towards fully defining the necessary criteria to classify them within an appropriated classification. Consequently, we provide the first details on the singular spin-half fermions with bosonic traces

Singular spinors and their connection

In this paper, we analyze some properties regarding singular spinors and how they are connected. The method employed here consists of mapping the spinorial structure and also the adjoint structure. Such a mathematical device is useful to determine propagators without invoking the vacuum expected value of the quantum field time-ordered product.

Polar Form of Spinor Fields from Regular to Singular: the Flag-Dipoles

In this paper, we perform the polar analysis of the spinorial fields, starting from the regular cases and up to the singular cases: we will give for the first time the polar form of the spinorial field equations for the singular cases constituted by the flag-dipole spinor fields. Comments on the role of further spinor sub-classes containing Majorana and Weyl spinors will be sketched.
