On Rieffel's conjecture characterizing a deformed algebra as Heisenberg smooth operators

Let $\mathscr{A}$ be a unital C$^*$-algebra and $E_n$ be the Hilbert $\mathscr{A}$-module defined as the completion of the $\mathscr{A}$-valued Schwartz function space $\mathcal{S}^\mathscr{A}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ with respect to the norm $\|f\|_2 := \left\| \int_{\mathbb{R}^n} f(x)^*f(x) \, dx \right\|_\mathscr{A}^{1 / 2}$. Also, let $\text{Ad }\mathcal{U}$ be the canonical action of the $(2n + 1)$-dimensional Heisenberg group by conjugation on the algebra of adjointable operators on $E_n$ and let $J$ be a skew-symmetric linear transformation on $\mathbb{R}^n$. We characterize the smooth vectors under $\text{Ad }\mathcal{U}$ which commute with a certain algebra of right multiplication operators $R_h$, with $h \in \mathcal{S}^\mathscr{A}(\mathbb{R}^n)$, where the product is ``twisted'' with respect to $J$ according to a deformation quantization procedure introduced by M.A. Rieffel. More precisely, we establish that they coincide with an algebra of left multiplication operators and show that this solves, in particular, a conjecture posed by Rieffel.

Differential Norms and Rieffel Algebras

We develop criteria to guarantee uniqueness of the C$^*$-norm on a *-algebra $\mathcal{B}$. Nontrivial examples are provided by the noncommutative algebras of $\mathcal{C}$-valued functions $\mathcal{S}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and $\mathcal{B}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ defined by M.A. Rieffel via a deformation quantization procedure, where $\mathcal{C}$ is a C$^*$-algebra and $J$ is a skew-symmetric linear transformation on $\mathbb{R}^n$ with respect to which the usual pointwise product is deformed. In the process, we prove that the Fréchet *-algebra topology of $\mathcal{B}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ can be generated by a sequence of submultiplicative *-norms and that, if $\mathcal{C}$ is unital, this algebra is closed under the C$^\infty$-functional calculus of its C$^*$-completion. We also show that the algebras $\mathcal{S}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and $\mathcal{B}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ are spectrally invariant in their respective C$^*$-completions, when $\mathcal{C}$ is unital. As a corollary of our results, we obtain simple proofs of certain estimates in $\mathcal{B}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$.

Projective Analytic Vectors and Infinitesimal Generators

We establish the notion of a ``projective analytic vector'', whose defining requirements are weaker than the usual ones of an analytic vector, and use it to prove generation theorems for one-parameter groups on locally convex spaces. More specifically, we give a characterization of the generators of strongly continuous one-parameter groups which arise as the result of a projective limit procedure, in which the existence of a dense set of projective analytic vectors plays a central role. An application to strongly continuous Lie group representations on Banach spaces is given, with a focused analysis on concrete algebras of functions and of pseudodifferential operators.

Exponentiation of Lie Algebras of Linear Operators on Locally Convex Spaces

Necessary and sufficient conditions for the exponentiation of finite-dimensional real Lie algebras of linear operators on complete Hausdorff locally convex spaces are obtained, focused on the equicontinuous case - in particular, necessary conditions for exponentiation to compact Lie groups are established. Applications to complete locally convex algebras, with special attention to locally C$^*$-algebras, are given. The definition of a projective analytic vector is introduced, playing an important role in some of the exponentiation theorems.

Operators with analytic orbit for the torus action

Let $T^n$ denote the n-dimensional torus. The class of the bounded operators on $L^2(T^n)$ with analytic orbit under the action of $T^n$ by conjugation with the translation operators is shown to coincide with the class of the zero-order pseudodifferential operators on $T^n$ whose discrete symbol $(a_j)_{j\in Z^n}$ is uniformly analytic, in the sense that there exists $C>1$ such that the derivatives of $a_j$ satisfy $|\partial^αa_j(x)|\leq C^{1+|α|}α!$ for all $x\in T^n$, all $j\in Z^n$ and all $α\in N^n$. This implies that this class of pseudodifferential operators is a spectrally invariant *-subalgebra of the algebra of all bounded operators on $L^2(T^n)$.
