A framework for the benchmarking of transport-induced excitations in shuttling-based ion-trap quantum processors

We develop a theoretical and numerical framework to analyze the effect of transport on the motional states of ions in a trapped-ion quantum processor. We decompose the shuttling protocol into primitive operations and characterize these in terms of their heating performance. Instead of having to simulate the whole transport protocol for each complete ion trajectory, the method allows us to determine the heating properties of each primitive operation separately and obtain the global result through an algebraic expression. We demonstrate our method by applying it to an 8-qubit quantum processor design based on linear transport and swap operations for all-to-all connectivity. We show how to incorporate the price of motional operations at the level of the compiler as a cost function.

Non-Hermitian SUSY Hydrogen-like Hamiltonians with real spectra

It is shown that the radial part of the Hydrogen Hamiltonian factorizes as the product of two not mutually adjoint first order differential operators plus a complex constant epsilon. The 1-susy approach is used to construct non-hermitian Hamiltonians with hydrogen spectra. Other non-hermitian Hamiltonians are shown to admit an extra `complex energy' at epsilon. New self-adjoint hydrogen-like Hamiltonians are also derived by using a 2-susy transformation with complex conjugate pairs epsilon, (c.c) epsilon.

Second order SUSY transformations with `complex energies'

Second order supersymmetry transformations which involve a pair of complex conjugate factorization energies and lead to real non-singular potentials are analyzed. The generation of complex potentials with real spectra is also studied. The theory is applied to the free particle, one-soliton well and one-dimensional harmonic oscillator.
