Decompactification and the Flat-Space Limit of AdS$_5\times$ S$^5$ Master Correlators

We study the flat-space limit of AdS$_5$/CFT$_4$ holographic correlators while accounting for the simultaneous decompactification of the internal S$^5$. We show that this limit is naturally formulated in terms of master propagators and correlators, which resum the infinite tower of Kaluza--Klein modes. For boundary correlators, the resulting expressions can be interpreted in terms of amplitudes with kinematics restricted to 5d. We then consider master correlators whose external insertions are kept in the AdS$_5\times$S$^5$ bulk before taking the limit, and argue that they recover flat-space amplitudes with unrestricted kinematics in 10d Minkowski space. Finally, we show that the flat-space limit commutes with the boundary limit if we analytically continue the sphere so that the bulk geometry becomes AdS$_5 \times$dS$_5$, and the resulting formulae suggest an interpretation in terms of amplitudes in flat space with two time directions and with 10d kinematics satisfying two simultaneous null constraints. We discuss the implications of these constructions for flat-space holography and its relation to the Carrollian limit of the dual CFT.

Self-Dual Yang-Mills in AdS$_4$

Quantum Yang-Mills theory in Euclidean AdS$_4$ with Neumann boundary conditions is studied as a function of the complex couplings $\frac{1}{g_\pm^2} \equiv \frac{1}{g^2}\mp \frac{i \theta }{8 \pi^2}$. We define a "self-dual limit" by $g_- \to 0$ with $g_+ ~{\rm fixed}$. We argue that the limiting theory is well-defined perturbatively and equivalent to the BF formulation of self-dual Yang-Mills theory with a particular boundary condition relating $B$ and $F$ at the boundary $\partial$AdS$_4$. $g_+$ is the loop-counting parameter of the self-dual theory. This is in stark contrast to flat space, where $\theta$ has no effect on perturbative dynamics. In the self-dual limit, it is shown that all tree-level zero-plus and single-plus boundary correlators vanish. A closed form expression is given for any number of gluons for the double-plus tree correlators. Finally, we show that in the flat space limit of AdS$_4$, the total energy poles in the tree boundary correlators correctly reduce to the single-minus gluon amplitudes.

Observing Massive Scattering from Null Infinity

Because massive particles asymptote to timelike rather than null infinity, current flat space holographic proposals such as celestial or Carrollian holography struggle to describe scattering processes with massive external states. We take a step toward addressing this limitation by studying how information about massive scattering amplitudes is carried to the late-time limit of null infinity by soft graviton radiation. We show that continuity between the boundaries of timelike and null infinity implies that the late-time limit of the Bondi mass aspect naturally acts as a detector operator for massive outgoing radiation. We further relate in-in correlation functions of the Bondi mass aspect at $\mathscr{I}^+_+$ to weighted sums of scattering cross sections, implying that an observer at $\mathscr{I}$ can extract information about massive scattering processes at late times. Finally, we interpret the Bondi mass aspect as a Carrollian stress-tensor component, and study Ward identities to constrain its two-point functions.

Quasi-Local Celestial Charges and Multipoles

We extend Penrose's quasi-local mass definition to include higher-spin charges associated with the celestial $Lw_{1+\infty}$ symmetries and relate them to traditional definitions of multipoles. The resulting formulae provide explicit expressions that can be computed on finite 2-surfaces, given a choice of null hypersurface. They yield a geometric definition of celestial symmetries and multipoles in generic spacetimes in terms of higher-valence solutions to the twistor equations. This, in turn, gives rise to natural flux-balance laws along the null hypersurface. We also present a first-principles phase-space derivation of these charges, starting from a twistor space action for self-dual gravity that can be identified with the standard gravitational asymptotic phase space at null infinity, performing a large gauge transformation analysis and using the Penrose transform to connect with the corresponding spacetime expressions. Finally, we formulate the spacetime analysis in the Plebanski gauge and relate the celestial symmetries to the integrability of self-dual gravity in the case of a self-dual background.

Carrollian Physics and Holography

This report reviews key developments in Carrollian physics with an emphasis on their role in the emerging framework of holography in asymptotically flat spacetimes. We begin by introducing the Carrollian limit, understood as the non-relativistic contraction of the Poincar\'e group obtained by formally taking the speed of light to zero. The geometric structures associated with this limit are described and argued to arise naturally on null hypersurfaces, most notably on null infinity, as well as black hole and cosmological horizons. Building on this, we examine the relation between the Bondi-Metzner-Sachs symmetries governing asymptotically flat gravity and the conformal Carrollian symmetries. Explicit examples of Carrollian field theories are constructed by implementing the limit on well-known relativistic field theories, with particular attention to Carrollian CFTs. We then present the Carrollian holography proposal, according to which gravity in asymptotically flat spacetimes is dual to a Carrollian CFT living at null infinity in one lower dimension. In this framework, the massless $\mathcal{S}$-matrix written in position space at null infinity is naturally reinterpreted in terms of boundary Carrollian CFT correlators, called Carrollian amplitudes. We highlight their relation to celestial amplitudes and show how they naturally emerge from holographic CFT correlators through a correspondence between the flat space limit in the bulk and the Carrollian limit at the boundary. Using this correspondence, we provide strong evidence that flat space holography arises from a controlled and consistent limiting procedure applied to both sides of the AdS/CFT duality. We conclude by outlining future directions and open questions in the program.

Extended BMS representations and strings

We construct in detail the irreducible representations of the BMS group with super rotations in three and four dimensions that have the same rest frame momenta as the massive and massless Poincare point particles. We compare these representations to those of the Poincare group and also to the analogous representations of global BMS. We argue that these extended BMS representations are carried by a string rather than a point particle. The super rotations play a crucial role in our discussions.

Celestial $Lw_{1+\infty}$ Symmetries and Subleading Phase Space of Null Hypersurfaces

Pursuing our analysis of [1], we study the gravitational solution space around a null hypersurface in the bulk of spacetime, such as a black hole or a cosmological horizon. We discuss the corresponding characteristic initial value problem both in the metric and Newman-Penrose formalisms, and establish an explicit dictionary between the two. This allows us to identify Weyl-covariant structures in the solution space, including hierarchies of recursion relations encoding the flux-balance laws. We then establish a correspondence between the gravitational phase space at null infinity and the subleading phase space around the null hypersurface at finite distance. This connection is naturally formulated within the Newman-Penrose formalism by performing a partially off-shell conformal compactification and identifying the analogue of the Ashtekar-Streubel symplectic structure in the radial expansion near the null hypersurface. Using this framework, we identify the celestial $Lw_{1+\infty}$ symmetries in the subleading phase space at finite distance by constructing their canonical generators and imposing self-duality conditions. This allows us to define a notion of covariant radiation, whose absence gives rise to an infinite tower of conserved charges, revealing physical quantities relevant to observers near black hole or cosmological horizons. As a concrete illustration, we consider the case of the self-dual Taub-NUT black hole.

On Carrollian and Celestial Correlators in General Dimensions

Carrollian holography is a framework for flat space holography, suggesting that gravity in asymptotically flat spacetime in $D$ dimensions is dual to a conformal Carrollian field theory in $D - 1$ dimensions living at null infinity. In this work, we elaborate on the definition of Carrollian amplitudes for massless scalar fields in general dimensions and provide explicit expressions for the two-, three-, and four-point functions. We show that these amplitudes naturally arise from Lorentzian holographic correlators in AdS/CFT through a correspondence between the flat space limit in the bulk and the Carrollian limit at the boundary. Finally, we use the relation between Carrollian and celestial holography to derive explicit expressions for celestial amplitudes in $D$ dimensions, which are reinterpreted as correlators of the celestial CFT in $D - 2$ dimensions.

S-algebra in Gauge Theory: Twistor, Spacetime and Holographic Perspectives

The celestial $S$-algebra arose from a reinterpretation of collinear limits of the Yang-Mills S-matrix as OPEs in celestial holography. It was subsequently represented via asymptotic charge aspects defined in the Yang-Mills radiative phase space defined at null infinity on the one hand, and via a twisted holography vertex algebra construction in twistor space on the other. Here we first identify it with the traditional symmetry algebra of self-dual Yang-Mills theory as an integrable system via its hierarchies of conserved quantities and associated flows; the self-dual phase space can be canonically identified with that of full Yang-Mills at null infinity $\mathscr{I}$. We derive the associated canonical generators from the twistor space action, identifying two infinite towers of charges corresponding to the two gluon helicities. These expressions are translated into spacetime data at null infinity using twistor integral formulae. Examining the charge algebra at spacelike infinity reveals the vertex algebras studied in the context of twisted holography. Our discussion extends directly to the celestial LHam$(\mathbb{C}^2)$ symmetries of self-dual gravity. This analysis provides a unified framework for celestial symmetries, connecting twistor, spacetime, and holographic approaches and culminating in a nonlinear extrapolate dictionary for self-dual gauge theory.

Towards a Flat Space Carrollian Hologram from AdS$_4$/CFT$_3$

Finding a concrete example holography in four dimensional asymptotically flat space is an important open problem. A natural strategy is to take the flat space limit of the celebrated AdS$_4$/CFT$_3$ correspondence, which relates M-theory in AdS$_4 \times$S$^7$ to a certain superconformal Chern-Simons-matter theory known as the ABJM theory. In this limit, the boundary of AdS$_4$ becomes null infinity and the ABJM theory should exhibit an emergent superconformal Carrollian symmetry. We investigate this possiblity by matching the Carrollian limit of ABJM correlators with four-dimensional supergravity amplitudes that arise from taking the flat space limit of AdS$_4 \times$S$^7$ and reducing along the S$^7$. We also present a general analysis of three-dimensional superconformal Carrollian symmetry.

Celestial Symmetries of Black Hole Horizons

We establish a correspondence between the gravitational phase space at null infinity and the subleading phase space near a finite-distance null hypersurface, such as a black hole horizon. Within this framework, we identify the celestial $Lw_{1+\infty}$ symmetries in the subleading phase space at the horizon by constructing their canonical generators and imposing self-duality conditions. This leads to an infinite tower of conserved charges in the absence of radiation, revealing new gravitational observables relevant to black hole physics.

Holographic Carrollian Currents for Massless Scattering

We show that the Ward identities of a Carrollian CFT stress tensor at null infinity reproduce the leading and subleading soft graviton theorems for massless scattering in the bulk. We deduce the expressions of the stress tensor components in terms of the bulk radiative modes, and these components turn out to be local at $\mathscr{I}$ in terms of the twistor potentials. This analysis makes the correspondence between the large-time limit of Carrollian amplitudes and the soft limit of momentum space amplitudes manifest. We then construct Carrollian CFT currents from the ascendants of the hard graviton operator, which satisfy the $Lw_{1+\infty}$ algebra. We show that the large-time limit of their Ward identities implies an infinite tower of projected soft graviton theorems in the bulk, while their finite-time OPEs encode the collinear limit of scattering amplitudes.

Differential Equations for Carrollian Amplitudes

Differential equations are powerful tools in the study of correlation functions in conformal field theories (CFTs). Carrollian amplitudes behave as correlation functions of Carrollian CFT that holographically describes asymptotically flat spacetime. We derive linear differential equations satisfied by Carrollian MHV gluon and graviton amplitudes. We obtain non-distributional solutions for both the gluon and graviton cases. We perform various consistency checks for these differential equations, including compatibility with conformal Carrollian symmetries.

Celestial $Lw_{1+\infty}$ charges from a twistor action

The celestial $Lw_{1+\infty}$ symmetries in asymptotically flat spacetimes have a natural geometric interpretation on twistor space in terms of Poisson diffeomorphisms. Using this framework, we provide a first-principle derivation of the canonical generators associated with these symmetries starting from the Poisson BF twistor action for self-dual gravity. We express these charges as surface integrals over the celestial sphere in terms of spacetime data at null infinity. The connection between twistor space and spacetime expressions at $\mathscr{I}$ is achieved via an integral formula for the asymptotic Bianchi identities due to Bramson and Tod. Finally, we clarify how $Lw_{1+\infty}$ transformations are symmetries of gravity from a phase space perspective by showing the invariance of the asymptotic Bianchi identities.

Carrollian Amplitudes from Holographic Correlators

Carrollian amplitudes are flat space amplitudes written in position space at null infinity which can be re-interpreted as correlators in a putative dual Carrollian CFT. We argue that these amplitudes are the natural objects obtained in the flat space limit of AdS Lorentzian boundary correlators. The flat limit is taken entirely in position space by introducing Bondi coordinates in the bulk. From the bulk perspective, this procedure makes it manifest that the flat limit of any Witten diagram is the corresponding flat space Feynman diagram. It also makes explicit the fact that the flat limit in the bulk is implemented by a Carrollian limit at the boundary. We systematically analyse tree-level two, three and four-point correlators. Familiar features such as the distributional nature of Carrollian amplitudes and the presence of a bulk point singularity arise naturally as a consequence of requiring a finite and non-trivial Carrollian limit.

Superrotations at Spacelike Infinity

We propose a consistent set of boundary conditions for gravity in asymptotically flat spacetime at spacelike infinity, which yields an enhancement of the Bondi-Metzner Sachs group with smooth superrotations and new subleading symmetries. These boundary conditions are obtained by allowing fluctuations of the boundary structure which are responsible for divergences in the symplectic form, and a renormalization procedure is required to obtain finite canonical generators. The latter are then made integrable by incorporating boundary terms into the symplectic structure, which naturally derive from a linearized spin-two boundary field on a curved background with positive cosmological constant. Finally, we show that the canonical generators form a nonlinear algebra under the Poisson bracket and verify the consistency of this structure with the Jacobi identity.

Logarithmic Celestial Conformal Field Theory

We argue that the celestial conformal field theory exhibits patterns of a logarithmic conformal field theory. We uncover a Jordan block structure involving the celestial stress tensor and its logarithmic partner, a composite operator built from the stress tensor and the Liouville field. Using a limiting process whose parameter corresponds to the infrared cut-off of gravity, we perform some basic consistency checks, particularly the calculation of two-point correlators, which reveals the expected logarithmic behavior. We comment on the vanishing value of the central charge in the celestial conformal field theory and explain how the logarithmic partner is relevant for its well-behavedness.

Carrollian Amplitudes and Celestial Symmetries

Carrollian holography aims to express gravity in four-dimensional asymptotically flat spacetime in terms of a dual three-dimensional Carrollian CFT living at null infinity. Carrollian amplitudes are massless scattering amplitudes written in terms of asymptotic or null data at $\mathscr I$. These position space amplitudes at $\mathscr I$ are to be re-interpreted as correlation functions in the putative dual Carrollian CFT. We derive basic results concerning tree-level Carrollian amplitudes yielding dynamical constraints on the holographic dual. We obtain surprisingly compact expressions for $n$-point MHV gluon and graviton amplitudes in position space at $\mathscr I$. We discuss the UV/IR behaviours of Carrollian amplitudes and investigate their collinear limit, which allows us to define a notion of Carrollian OPE. By smearing the OPE along the generators of null infinity, we obtain the action of the celestial symmetries - namely, the $S$ algebra for Yang-Mills theory and $Lw_{1+\infty}$ for gravity - on the Carrollian operators. As a consistency check, we systematically relate our results with celestial amplitudes using the link between the two approaches. Finally, we initiate a direct connection between twistor space and Carrollian amplitudes.
