Symplectic structures and globally hyperbolic spacetimes

The aim of this note is to present a construction of symplectic structures on orientable globally hyperbolic 4-dimensional lorentzian manifolds. Said structures are defined on the manifold itself, not on its cotangent bundle. It also includes a discussion about their geometric quantisation.

Charge quantisation without magnetic poles: a topological approach to electromagnetism

The present work provides a theoretical explanation for the quantisation of electric charges, an open problem since Millikan's oil drop experiment in 1909. This explanation is based solely on Maxwell's theory, it recasts Electromagnetic theory under the language of complex line bundles; therefore, neither magnetic poles nor quantum mechanics are invoked. The existence of magnetic poles was essentially the only theoretical explanation for charge quantisation (e.g. Dirac's magnetic pole), and there is no experimental data supporting their existence.

Geometric quantization of semitoric systems and almost toric manifolds

Kostant gave a model for the real geometric quantization associated to polarizations via the cohomology associated to the sheaf of flat sections of a pre-quantum line bundle. This model is well-adapted for real polarizations given by integrable systems and toric manifolds. In the latter case, the cohomology can be computed counting integral points inside the associated Delzant polytope. In this article we extend Kostant's geometric quantization to semitoric integrable systems and almost toric manifolds. In these cases the dimension of the acting torus is smaller than half of the dimension of the manifold. In particular, we compute the cohomology groups associated to the geometric quantization if the real polarization is the one associated to an integrable system with focus-focus type singularities in dimension four. As application we determine models for the geometric quantization of K3 surfaces, a spin-spin system, the spherical pendulum, and a spin-oscillator system under this scheme.

Circle actions and geometric quantisation

The aim of this article is to present unifying proofs for results in geometric quantisation with real polarisations by exploring the existence of symplectic circle actions. It provides an extension of Rawnsley's results on the Kostant complex, and gives an alternative proof for Sniatycki's and Hamilton's theorems; as well as, a partial result for the focus-focus contribution to geometric quantisation.

A Poincare lemma in Geometric Quantisation

This article presents a Poincare lemma for the Kostant complex, used to compute geometric quantisation, when the polarisation is given by a Lagrangian foliation defined by an integrable system with nondegenerate singularities.

On a Poincare lemma for foliations

In this paper we revisit a Poincare lemma for foliated forms, with respect to a regular foliation, and compute the foliated cohomology for local models of integrable systems with singularities of nondegenerate type. A key point in this computation is the use of some analytical tools for integrable systems with nondegenerate singularities, including a Poincare lemma for the deformation complex associated to this singular foliation.
