Damping of gravitational waves in f(R) gravity

We investigate the damping of gravitational waves (GW) in $f(R)$ gravity by matter. By applying the kinetic theory, we examine the first-order approximation of the relativistic Boltzmann equation. In the flat spacetime, we derive the evolution equations for waves in $f(R)$ gravity and demonstrate that Landau damping is absent while collision damping is present. In the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmology, we also examine the dynamical equations for the two modes. Furthermore, in the model $f(R) = R + αR^2$, we investigate the effect of the mass term on wave amplitude decay within the neutrino system. We observe that the tensor mode with $m = 1 \, \text{eV}$ exhibits faster decay compared to other cases, while the scalar mode with $m = 1 \, \text{eV}$ appears to suppress decay.

Thin accretion disk and shadow of Kerr-Sen black hole in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axion gravity

We investigate the thin disk and shadow of Kerr-Sen black hole in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axion gravity. The results reveal that as the dilaton parameter $r_2$ increase, the energy flux, the radiation temperature, the spectra luminosity, and the radiative efficiency of the disk all increase. By narrowing down the dilaton parameter range to $0\leqslant \frac{r_2}{M}\leqslant0.4$, we discover that in the high-frequency region, the Kerr-Sen black hole demonstrates higher energy output compared to the Kerr black hole. We also investigated the shadow of Kerr-Sen black hole in a uniform plasma environment. For fixed inclination angle, dilaton, and spin parameters, the shadow increases as the homogeneous plasma parameter $k$ increases. Conversely, when $k $ and $a$ are fixed, an increase in $r_2$ leads to a decrease in the shadow. Finally, we constrain the model parameters with observational data from M87* and Sgr A*.

Baryogenesis in quantum fluctuation modified gravity

We consider baryogenesis in quantum fluctuation modified gravity. We explore three forms (two are newly proposed here) of baryogenesis interaction and discuss the effect of these interaction terms on the baryon-to-entropy ratio during the radiation era of the expanding universe. We constrain the model parameters with the current observational data, implying that this modified gravity is capable to address the issue of baryon asymmetry in a successful manner.

A new parametrization of Hubble function and Hubble tension

We present a new Hubble parameterization method and employ observational data from Hubble, Pantheon, and Baryon Acoustic Oscillations to constrain model parameters. The proposed method is thoroughly validated against these datasets, demonstrating a robust fit to the observational data. The obtained best-fit values are $H_0 = 67.5^{+1.3}_{-1.6}$ $\text{km s}^{-1} \text{Mpc}^{-1}$, $Ω_{\rm{m0}} = 0.2764\pm{0.0094}$, and $α= 0.33\pm{0.22}$, consistent with the Planck 2018 results, highlighting the existence of Hubble tension.

Possible signatures of higher dimension in thin accretion disk around brane world black hole

We probe deeply into the characteristics of thin accretion disk surrounding black hole within the brane world paradigm. We investigate how model parameters affect the physical properties of the disk. Our findings indicate that as the tidal charge parameter inherited from the higher dimension increases, the energy flux, the radiation temperature, the spectral cutoff frequency, the spectral luminosity, and the conversion efficiency of the disk all increase, but the radius of the innermost stable circular orbit decreases. Compared to cases of the Kerr and Schwarzschild black holes, the disk is hotter and more luminous for positive tidal charge parameter, while it is cooler and less luminous for negative tidal charge parameter, which suggests the potential for probing possible signatures of higher dimension.

Hamilton-Jacobi formalism for k-inflation

We consider a type of k-inflation under the Hamilton-Jacobi approach. We calculate various observables such as the scalar power spectrum, the tensor-to-scalar ratio, the scalar spectra index for the case where the Hubble parameter is a power-law function of k-field. The model's parameters are constrained with Planck data and the concrete form of the potential is presented. The results show that the model can be in good agreement with observations.

Accretion of matter by a Charged dilaton black hole

Considering accretion onto a charged dilaton black hole, the fundamental equations governing accretion, general analytic expressions for critical points, critical velocity, critical speed of sound, and ultimately the mass accretion rate are obtained. A new constraint on the dilation parameter coming from string theory is found and the case for polytropic gas is delved into a detailed discussion. It is found that the dialtion and the adiabatic index of accreted material have deep effects on the accretion process.

Stability of the de-Sitter universe: One-loop nonlocal $f(R)$ gravity

With the method of the background field expansion, we investigate the one-loop quantization of the Euclidean nonlocal $f(R)$ model in the de-Sitter universe. We obtain the ghost-free condition (GFC) based on the transformation from the Jordan frame to the Einstein frame and the classical stability condition (CSC) satisfied $f^{(0)}_{RR}-ϕ_0F^{(0)}_{RR}<0$. We present the on-shell and off-shell one-loop effective action and quantum stability condition (QSC) by utilizing the generalized zeta-function. We find that under the fulfillment of GFC, CSC and QSC are inconsistent.

Choked accretion onto Kerr-Sen black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axion gravity

We investigate the process of an ultrarelativistic fluid accreted onto axisymmetric Kerr-Sen black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axion theory. We obtain the solution describing the velocity potential of a stationary irrotational fluid with a stiff equation of state and the solution for the streamlined diagram of the quadrupolar flow. We also investigate how the solution's coefficients and the stagnation points are affected by the parameters. The injection rate, the ejection rate, and the critical angle are discussed in detail. We find that with an increasing dilaton parameter the ratio of the ejection rate to the injection rate increases and that the radiative efficiency is larger, while the redshift is lower, compared to the Kerr black hole.

Types of the geodesic motions in Kerr-Sen-AdS$_{4}$ spacetime

We consider the geodesic motions in the Kerr-Sen-AdS$_4$ spacetime. We obtain the equations of motion for light rays and test particles. Using the parametric diagrams, we shown some regions where the radial and latitudinal geodesic motions are allowed. We analyse the impact of parameter related to dilatonic scalar on the orbit and find that it will result in more rich and complex orbital types.

Thin accretion disks around a black hole in Einstein-Aether-scalar theory

We consider the accretion process in the thin disk around a supermassive black hole in Einstein-aether-scalar theory. We probe the effects of the model parameter on the physical properties of the disk. The results show that with increasing value of the parameter, the energy flux, the radiation temperature, the spectra cut-off frequency, the spectra luminosity, and the conversion efficiency of the disk decrease. The disk is hotter and more luminous than that in general relativity for negative parameter, while it is cooler and less luminous for positive parameter. We also find some values of the parameter allowed by the theory are excluded by the physical properties of the disk.

Accretion of the Vlasov gas onto a Schwarzschild-like black hole

We consider spherical steady accretion of the relativistic Vlasov gas onto a Schwarzschild-like black hole. We determine the expressions for the particle current density and accretion rate and present the limiting expressions for the mass accretion rate at high and low temperature. The results show that the parameter characterizing the breaking of Lorentz symmetry can affects the radial component of the particle current density and the mass accretion rate.

Exact solution for accretion onto a moving charged dilaton black hole

We present an analytic solution for accretion of a gaseous medium with adiabatic equation of state onto a charged dilaton black hole which moves at a constant velocity. We determine the four-velocity of accreted flow and find that it possesses axial symmetry. We obtain the particle number density and the accretion rate which depend on the mass, the magnetic charge, and the dilation of black hole, meaning that these parameters take important roles in the process of accretion. Possible theoretical and observational constraints on the parameter related to the dilation are discussed. The results may help us to get deeper understanding of the behavior of accreted flow near the event horizon of black hole.

The First Insight-HXMT Gamma-Ray Burst Catalog: The First Four Years

The Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT), is China's first X-ray astronomy satellite launched on June 15, 2017. The anti-coincidence CsI detectors of the High Energy X-ray telescope (HE) onboard Insight-HXMT could serve as an all-sky gamma-ray monitor in about 0.2-3 MeV. In its first four years of operation, Insight-HXMT has detected 322 Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) by offline search pipeline including blind search and targeted search. For the GOLDEN sample of Insight-HXMT GRBs, joint analyses were performed with other GRB missions, including Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (Fermi/GBM), Swift Burst Alert Telescope (Swift/BAT) and Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM). It shows that Insight-HXMT can provide better constraint on GRB spectrum at higher energy band. The properties of Insight-HXMT GRBs are reported in detail, including their trigger time, duration, spectral parameters, peak fluxes of different time scales and fluence. This catalog is an official product of the Insight-HXMT GRB team.

Adiabatic accretion onto black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-scalar theory

We study the adiabatic accretion process of ordinary baryonic gas onto spherically symmetric black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-scalar theory, with two parameters $α$ and $β$ in the coupling term. Especially, we demonstrate the range of the transonic points in terms of the charge-to-mass ratio squared and the dimensionless coordinate radius, in two important classes of black holes as examples. Further, we find that the two coupling parameters give modifications to the mass accretion rate at different orders of the sound speed at infinity. We also present their different effects on the temperature ratios of the accreted gas.

Test the growth models of black hole by jointing LIGO and Insight-HXMT observations

The growth model of black hole is still a controversial topic. In the stationary metric, all in-falling matter must be accumulated outside the event horizon of the black hole, as clocked by a distant external observer. In the time-dependent metric, all in-falling matter can fall into the event horizon of the final black hole within very short time. We test these two growth models by joining LIGO and Insight-HXMT observations. We find the stationary model is inconsistent with LIGO and Insight-HXMT observations.

Thermodynamics of black hole in $D$-dimensional $f(R)$ theory

We consider whether the new horizon-first law works in higher-dimensional $f(R)$ theory. We firstly obtain the general formulas to calculate the entropy and the energy of a general spherically-symmetric black hole in $D$-dimensional $f(R)$ theory. For applications, we compute the entropies and the energies of some black hokes in some interesting higher-dimensional $f(R)$ theories.

Horizon thermodynamics in $f(R,R^{μν}R_{μν})$ theory

We investigate whether the new horizon first law still holds in $f(R,R^{μν}R_{μν})$ theory. For this complicated theory, we first determine the entropy of black hole via Wald method, then we derive the energy by using the new horizon first law, the degenerate Legendre transformation, and the gravitational field equations. For application, we consider the quadratic-curvature gravity and firstly calculate the entropy and the energy for a static spherically symmetric black hole, which reduces to the results obtained in literatures for a Schwarzschild-(A)dS black hole.
