Scalar cosmological perturbation in an inflationary brane world driven by the bulk inflaton

We investigate scalar perturbations from inflation in a bulk inflaton braneworld model. Using the generalized longitudinal gauge, we derive and solve the full set of scalar perturbation equations. Our exact results support the recent argument that for the de Sitter brane the square of the radion mass is not positive, showing that unlike the flat brane case, the de Sitter brane is not stable.

The Extended Wronskian Determinant Approach and the Iterative Solutions of One-Dimensional Dirac Equation

An approximation method, namely, the Extended Wronskian Determinant Approach, is suggested to study the one-dimensional Dirac equation. An integral equation which can be solved by iterative procedure to find the wave functions is established. We employ this approach to study the one-dimensional Dirac equation with one-well potential, and give the energy levels and wave functions up to the first order iterative approximation. For double-well potential, the energy levels up to the first order approximation are given.

Numerical simulation of Quasi-Normal Modes in time-dependent background

We study the massless scalar wave propagation in the time-dependent Schwarzschild black hole background. We find that the Kruskal coordinate is an appropriate framework to investigate the time-dependent spacetime. A time-dependent scattering potential is derived by considering dynamical black hole with parameters changing with time. It is shown that in the quasinormal ringing both the decay time-scale and oscillation are modified in the time-dependent background.

Dibaryon systems in the quark mass density- and temperature-dependent model

Using the quark mass density- and temperature-dependent model, we have studied the properties of the dibaryon systems. The binding energy, radius and mean lifetime of Omega-Omega and Omega-Xi are given. We find the dibaryons Omega-Omega, Omega-Xi are metastable at zero temperature, but the strong decay channel for Omega-Omega opens when temperature arrives at 129.3MeV. It is shown that our results are in good agreement with those given by the chiral S(3) quark model.

Liquid-gas phase transition in a two-components isospin lattice gas model for asymmetric nuclear matter

A two-components isospin lattice gas model has been employed to study the liquid-gas phase transition for asymmetric nuclear matter. An additional degree of freedom, namely, the asymmetry parameter alpha has been considered carefully for studying the phase transition. We have shown that under the mean field approximation, the liquid-gas phase transition given by this model is of second order. The entropy continues at the phase transition point. The binodal surface is addressed.

Wronskian Approach and the One-dimensional Schrodinger Equation with Double-well Potential

A Wronskian determinant approach is suggested to study the energy and the wave function for one-dimensional Schrodinger equation. An integral equation and the corresponding Green's function are constructed. As an example, we employed this approach to study the problem of double-well potential with strong coupling. A series expansion of ground state energy up to the second order approximation of iterative procedure is given.

Dynamics and holographic discreteness of tachyonic inflation

We consider issues related to tachyonic inflation with inverse-power-law potential. We find the solution of the evolution equations in the slow roll limit in FRW as well as in the brane cosmology. Using the holographic entropy bound, we estimate the quantum-gravitational discreteness of tachyonic inflation perturbations.

Stability of strangelet at finite temperature

Using the quark mass density- and temperature dependent model, we have studied the thermodynamical properties and the stability of strangelet at finite temperature. The temperature, charge and strangeness dependences on the stability of strangelet are investigated. We find that the stable strangelets are only occured in the high strangeness and high negative charge region.

Numerical simulation of the massive scalar field evolution in the Reissner-Nordström black hole background

We studied the massive scalar wave propagation in the background of Reissner-Nordström black hole by using numerical simulations. We learned that the value $Mm$ plays an important role in determining the properties of the relaxation of the perturbation. For $Mm << 1$ the relaxation process depends only on the field parameter and does not depend on the spacetime parameters. For $Mm >> 1$, the dependence of the relaxation on the black hole parameters appears. The bigger mass of the black hole, the faster the perturbation decays. The difference of the relaxation process caused by the black hole charge $Q$ has also been exhibited.

The effect of surface and Coulomb interaction on the liquid-gas phase transition of finite nuclei

By means of the Furnstahl, Serot and Tang's model, the effects of surface tension and Coulomb interaction on the liquid-gas phase transition for finite nuclei are investigated. A limit pressure p-lim above which the liquid-gas phase transition cannot take place has been found. It is found that comparing to the Coulomb interaction, the contribution of surface tension is dominate in low temperature regions. The binodal surface is also addressed.

Isospin dependence of liquid-gas phase transition in hot asymmetric nuclear matter

By using the Furnstahl, Serot and Tang's model, the effect of density dependence of the effective nucleon-nucleon-rho-meson (NN-rho) coupling on the liquid-gas phase transition in hot asymmetric nuclear matter is investigated. A limit pressure p_lim has been found. We found that the liquid-gas phase transition cannot take place if p>p_lim. The binodal surface for density dependent NN-rho coupling situation is addressed.

Extreme black hole entropy obtained in an operational approach

The entropy of anti-de Sitter Reissner-Nordstrom black hole is found to be stored in the material which gathers to form it and equals to $A/4$ regardless of material states. Extending the study to two kinds of extreme black holes, we find different entropy results for the first kind of extreme black hole due to different material states. However for the second kind of extreme black hole the results of entropy are uniform independently of the material states. Relations between these results and the stability of two kinds of extreme black holes have been addressed.

Entropy, topology of two-dimensional extreme black holes

Through direct thermodynamic calculations we have shown that different classical entropies of two-dimensional extreme black holes appear due to two different treatments, namely Hawking's treatment and Zaslavskii's treatment. Geometrical and topological properties corresponding to these different treatments are investigated. Quantum entropies of the scalar fields on the backgrounds of these black holes concerning different treatments are also exhibited. Different results of entropy and geometry lead us to argue that there are two kinds of extreme black holes in the nature. Explanation of black hole phase transition has also been given from the quantum point of view.

Quantum entropy of two-dimensional extreme charged dilaton black hole

By using Hawking's treatment as well as Zaslavskii's treatment respectively and the brick wall model, two different values of classical entropy and quantum entropy of scalar fields in the two-dimensional extreme charged dilaton black hole backgrounds have been obtained. A new divergent term emerges in the quantum entropy under the extreme limit for Zaslavskii's treatment and its connection with the phase transition has been addressed.
