Integrable nonlocal finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems related to the Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur system

The method of nonlinearization of the Lax pair is developed for the Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur (AKNS) equation in the presence of space-inverse reductions. As a result, we obtain a new type of finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems: they are nonlocal in the sense that the inverse of the space variable is involved. For such nonlocal Hamiltonian systems, we show that they preserve the Liouville integrability and they can be linearized on the Jacobi variety. We also show how to construct the algebro-geometric solutions to the AKNS equation with space-inverse reductions by virtue of our nonlocal finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems. As an application, algebro-geometric solutions to the AKNS equation with the Dirichlet and with the Neumann boundary conditions, and algebro-geometric solutions to the nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation are obtained.

Time-dependent defects in integrable soliton equations

We study $(1+1)$-dimensional integrable soliton equations with time-dependent defects located at $x=c(t)$, where $c(t)$ is a function of class $C^1$. We define the defect condition as a Bäcklund transformation evaluated at $x=c(t)$ in space rather than over the full line. We show that such a defect condition does not spoil the integrability of the system. We also study soliton solutions that can meet the defect for the system. An interesting discovery is that the defect system admits peaked soliton solutions.

Darboux transformation and multi-soliton solutions of the Camassa-Holm equation and modified Camassa-Holm equation

In this paper, we propose a new approach to calculate multi-soliton solutions of Camassa-Holm (CH) equation and modified Camassa-Holm (MCH) equation with aid of Darboux transformation (DT). The new approach simplifies the approach presented in {\it Proc. R. Soc. Lond. A} {\bf 460} 2617-2627 (2004). We first map the CH and MCH equation to a negative order KdV (NKdV) equation by a reciprocal transformation. Then we proceed to apply the DT to solve the NKdV equation in the usual way. Finally we invert the reciprocal transformation to recover the solutions of the CH equation and MCH equation.

A synthetical two-component model with peakon solutions

A generalized two-component model with peakon solutions is proposed in this paper. It allows an arbitrary function to be involved in as well as including some existing integrable peakon equations as special reductions. The generalized two-component system is shown to possess Lax pair and infinitely many conservation laws. Bi-Hamiltonian structures and peakon interactions are discussed in detail for typical representative equations of the generalized system. In particular, a new type of $N$-peakon solution, which is not in the traveling wave type, is obtained from the generalized system.

A three-component Camassa-Holm system with cubic nonlinearity and peakons

In this paper, we propose a three-component Camassa-Holm (3CH) system with cubic nonlinearity and peakons. The 3CH model is proven integrable in the sense of Lax pair, Hamiltonian structure, and conservation laws. We show that this system admits peaked soliton (peakon) and multi-peakon solutions. Additionally, reductions of the 3CH system are investigated so that a new integrable perturbed CH equation with cubic nonlinearity is generated to possess peakon solutions.

Exact one-periodic and two-periodic wave solutions to Hirota bilinear equations in 2+1 dimensions

Riemann theta functions are used to construct one-periodic and two-periodic wave solutions to a class of (2+1)-dimensional Hirota bilinear equations. The basis for the involved solution analysis is the Hirota bilinear formulation, and the particular dependence of the equations on independent variables guarantees the existence of one-periodic and two-periodic wave solutions involving an arbitrary purely imaginary Riemann matrix. The resulting theory is applied to two nonlinear equations possessing Hirota bilinear forms: $u_t+u_{xxy}-3uu_y-3u_xv=0$ and $u_t+u_{xxxxy}-(5u_{xx}v+10u_{xy}u-15u^2v)_x=0$ where $v_x=u_y$, thereby yielding their one-periodic and two-periodic wave solutions describing one dimensional propagation of waves.

Binary nonlinearization of the super AKNS system

We establish the binary nonlinearization approach of the spectral problem of the super AKNS system, and then use it to obtain the super finite-dimensional integrable Hamiltonian system in supersymmetry manifold $\mathbb{R}^{4N|2N}$. The super Hamiltonian forms and integrals of motion are given explicitly.

Finite-dimensional integrable systems associated with Davey-Stewartson I equation

For the Davey-Stewartson I equation, which is an integrable equation in 1+2 dimensions, we have already found its Lax pair in 1+1 dimensional form by nonlinear constraints. This paper deals with the second nonlinearization of this 1+1 dimensional system to get three 1+0 dimensional Hamiltonian systems with a constraint of Neumann type. The full set of involutive conserved integrals is obtained and their functional independence is proved. Therefore, the Hamiltonian systems are completely integrable in Liouville sense. A periodic solution of the Davey-Stewartson I equation is obtained by solving these classical Hamiltonian systems as an example.

A Coupled AKNS-Kaup-Newell Soliton Hierarchy

A coupled AKNS-Kaup-Newell hierarchy of systems of soliton equations is proposed in terms of hereditary symmetry operators resulted from Hamiltonian pairs. Zero curvature representations and tri-Hamiltonian structures are established for all coupled AKNS-Kaup-Newell systems in the hierarchy. Therefore all systems have infinitely many commuting symmetries and conservation laws. Two reductions of the systems lead to the AKNS hierarchy and the Kaup-Newell hierarchy, and thus those two soliton hierarchies also possess tri-Hamiltonian structures.

r-Matrix for the restricted KdV Flows with the Neumann constraints

Under the Neumann constraints, each equation of the KdV hierarchy is decomposed into two finite dimensional systems, including the well-known Neumann model. Like in the case of the Bargmann constraint, the explicit Lax representations are deduced from the adjoint representation of the auxiliary spectral problem. It is shown that the Lax operator satisfies the r-matrix relation in the Dirac bracket. Thus, the integrabilities of these resulting systems with the Neumann constraints are obtained.
