LoRATK: LoRA Once, Backdoor Everywhere in the Share-and-Play Ecosystem

Finetuning LLMs with LoRA has gained significant popularity due to its simplicity and effectiveness. Often, users may even find pluggable, community-shared LoRAs to enhance their base models for a specific downstream task of interest; enjoying a powerful, efficient, yet customized LLM experience with negligible investment. However, this convenient share-and-play ecosystem also introduces a new attack surface, where attackers can distribute malicious LoRAs to a community eager to try out shared assets. Despite the high-risk potential, no prior art has comprehensively explored LoRA's attack surface under the downstream-enhancing share-and-play context. In this paper, we investigate how backdoors can be injected into task-enhancing LoRAs and examine the mechanisms of such infections. We find that with a simple, efficient, yet specific recipe, a backdoor LoRA can be trained once and then seamlessly merged (in a training-free fashion) with multiple task-enhancing LoRAs, retaining both its malicious backdoor and benign downstream capabilities. This allows attackers to scale the distribution of compromised LoRAs with minimal effort by leveraging the rich pool of existing shared LoRA assets. We note that such merged LoRAs are particularly infectious -- because their malicious intent is cleverly concealed behind improved downstream capabilities, creating a strong incentive for voluntary download -- and dangerous -- because under local deployment, no safety measures exist to intervene when things go wrong. Our work is among the first to study this new threat model of training-free distribution of downstream-capable-yet-backdoor-injected LoRAs, highlighting the urgent need for heightened security awareness in the LoRA ecosystem. Warning: This paper contains offensive content and involves a real-life tragedy.

Koala-36M: A Large-scale Video Dataset Improving Consistency between Fine-grained Conditions and Video Content

With the continuous progress of visual generation technologies, the scale of video datasets has grown exponentially. The quality of these datasets plays a pivotal role in the performance of video generation models. We assert that temporal splitting, detailed captions, and video quality filtering are three crucial determinants of dataset quality. However, existing datasets exhibit various limitations in these areas. To address these challenges, we introduce Koala-36M, a large-scale, high-quality video dataset featuring accurate temporal splitting, detailed captions, and superior video quality. The essence of our approach lies in improving the consistency between fine-grained conditions and video content. Specifically, we employ a linear classifier on probability distributions to enhance the accuracy of transition detection, ensuring better temporal consistency. We then provide structured captions for the splitted videos, with an average length of 200 words, to improve text-video alignment. Additionally, we develop a Video Training Suitability Score (VTSS) that integrates multiple sub-metrics, allowing us to filter high-quality videos from the original corpus. Finally, we incorporate several metrics into the training process of the generation model, further refining the fine-grained conditions. Our experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our data processing pipeline and the quality of the proposed Koala-36M dataset. Our dataset and code have been released at https://koala36m.github.io/.

AllTact Fin Ray: A Compliant Robot Gripper with Omni-Directional Tactile Sensing

Tactile sensing plays a crucial role in robot grasping and manipulation by providing essential contact information between the robot and the environment. In this paper, we present AllTact Fin Ray, a novel compliant gripper design with omni-directional and local tactile sensing capabilities. The finger body is unibody-casted using transparent elastic silicone, and a camera positioned at the base of the finger captures the deformation of the whole body and the contact face. Due to the global deformation of the adaptive structure, existing vision-based tactile sensing approaches that assume constant illumination are no longer applicable. To address this, we propose a novel sensing method where the global deformation is first reconstructed from the image using edge features and spatial constraints. Then, detailed contact geometry is computed from the brightness difference against a dynamically retrieved reference image. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of our proposed gripper design and sensing method in contact detection, force estimation, object grasping, and precise manipulation.

On the Optimality of Functional Sliced Inverse Regression

In this paper, we prove that functional sliced inverse regression (FSIR) achieves the optimal (minimax) rate for estimating the central space in functional sufficient dimension reduction problems. First, we provide a concentration inequality for the FSIR estimator of the covariance of the conditional mean. Based on this inequality, we establish the root-$n$ consistency of the FSIR estimator of the image of covariance of the conditional mean. Second, we apply the most widely used truncated scheme to estimate the inverse of the covariance operator and identify the truncation parameter that ensures that FSIR can achieve the optimal minimax convergence rate for estimating the central space. Finally, we conduct simulations to demonstrate the optimal choice of truncation parameter and the estimation efficiency of FSIR. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first paper to rigorously prove the minimax optimality of FSIR in estimating the central space for multiple-index models and general $Y$ (not necessarily discrete).

Parametric Near-Field MMSE Channel Estimation for sub-THz XL-MIMO Systems

Accurate channel estimation is essential for reliable communication in sub-THz extremely large (XL) MIMO systems. Deploying XL-MIMO in high-frequency bands not only increases the number of antennas, but also fundamentally alters channel propagation characteristics, placing the user equipments (UE) in the radiative near-field of the base station. This paper proposes a parametric estimation method using the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm to extract UE location data from uplink pilot signals. These parameters are used to reconstruct the spatial correlation matrix, followed by an approximation of the minimum mean square error (MMSE) channel estimator. Numerical results show that the proposed method outperforms the least-squares (LS) estimator in terms of the normalized mean-square error (NMSE), even without prior UE location knowledge.

FingER: Content Aware Fine-grained Evaluation with Reasoning for AI-Generated Videos

Recent advances in video generation have posed great challenges in the assessment of AI-generated content, particularly with the emergence of increasingly sophisticated models. The various inconsistencies and defects observed in such videos are inherently complex, making overall scoring notoriously difficult. In this paper, we emphasize the critical importance of integrating fine-grained reasoning into video evaluation, and we propose $\textbf{F}$ing$\textbf{ER}$, a novel entity-level reasoning evaluation framework that first automatically generates $\textbf{F}$ine-grained $\textbf{E}$ntity-level questions, and then answers those questions by a $\textbf{R}$easoning model with scores, which can be subsequently weighted summed to an overall score for different applications. Specifically, we leverage LLMs to derive entity-level questions across five distinct perspectives, which (i) often focus on some specific entities of the content, thereby making answering or scoring much easier by MLLMs, and (ii) are more interpretable. Then we construct a FingER dataset, consisting of approximately 3.3k videos and corresponding 60k fine-grained QA annotations, each with detailed reasons. Based on that, we further investigate various training protocols to best incentivize the reasoning capability of MLLMs for correct answer prediction. Extensive experiments demonstrate that a reasoning model trained using Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO) with a cold-start strategy achieves the best performance. Notably, our model surpasses existing methods by a relative margin of $11.8\%$ on GenAI-Bench and $5.5\%$ on MonetBench with only 3.3k training videos, which is at most one-tenth of the training samples utilized by other methods. Our code and dataset will be released soon.

Free Space Few-Photon Nonlinearity in Critically Coupled Polaritonic Metasurfaces

Few-photon optical nonlinearity in planar solid-state systems is challenging yet crucial for quantum and classical optical information processing. Polaritonic nonlinear metasurfaces have emerged as a promising candidate to push the photon number down -- but have often been hindered by challenges like the poor photon-trapping efficiency and lack of modal overlap. Here, we address these issues in a self-hybridized perovskite metasurface through critical coupling engineering, and report strong polaritonic nonlinear absorption at an ultra-low incident power density of only 519 W/cm2 (2 orders of magnitude lower than the state of art in free-space planar devices), with an estimated photon number of 6.12 per cavity lifetime. Taking advantage of a quasi-bound-state-in-the-continuum design with asymmetry-controlled quality-(Q)-factor, we systematically examine the Q-dependent device nonlinearity and determine the optimal cavity critical coupling condition. With the optimized device, we demonstrate at 6 Kelvin a tunable nonlinear response from reverse saturable absorption to saturable absorption at varying pump powers, with a maximal effective nonlinear absorption coefficient up to 29.4+-5.8 cm/W (6 orders of magnitude larger than unpatterned perovskites) at 560 nm wavelength. In addition, the cavity-exciton detuning dependent device response is analyzed and well explained by a phase-space-filling model, elucidating the underlying physics and the origin of giant nonlinearity. Our study paves the way towards practical flat nonlinear optical devices with large functional areas and massive parallel operation capabilities.

Superconductivity in the Medium-Entropy/High-Entropy Re-based Alloys with a Non-Centrosymmetric $α$-Mn Lattice

Medium or high-entropy alloys (MEAs-HEAs) and rhenium-based compounds with a non-centrosymmetric (NC) structure have received a lot of attention for offering a fertile soil in search for unconventional superconductivity. Here, five previously unreported NC Re-based MEA-HEA superconductors with an $α$-Mn lattice are successfully synthesized, with their superconducting transition temperatures (Tcs) ranging from 4 to 5 K. An increase in the superconducting transition temperature (Tc) can be achieved by modulating the valence electron count (VEC) through compositional adjustments. Magnetization measurements confirm that all the synthesized Re-based MEA-HEAs are bulk type-II superconductors. Specific heat analysis reveals that the superconducting state of these HEAs can be well described by a single-gap s-wave model. Our results show that the Kadowaki-Woods ratio of these $α$-Mn MEA/HEA superconductors are close to the typical value of heavy fermion compounds, suggesting the existence of strong electronic correlation. These findings provide promising material platforms to study the role of high disorder in the origin of superconductivity in the NC MEAs-HEAs.

A First-Order Linear Energy Stable Scheme for the Cahn-Hilliard Equation with Dynamic Boundary Conditions under the Effect of Hyperbolic Relaxation

In this paper we focus on the Cahn-Hilliard equation with dynamic boundary conditions, by adding two hyperbolic relaxation terms to the system. We verify that the energy of the total system is decreasing with time. By adding two stabilization terms, we have constructed a first-order temporal accuracy numerical scheme, which is linear and energy stable. Then we prove that the scheme is of first-order in time by the error estimates. At last we carry out enough numerical results to validate the the temporal convergence and the energy stability of such scheme. Moreover, we have present the differences of the numerical results with and without the hyperbolic terms, which show that the hyperbolic terms can help the total energy decreasing slowly.

Dora: Sampling and Benchmarking for 3D Shape Variational Auto-Encoders

Recent 3D content generation pipelines commonly employ Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) to encode shapes into compact latent representations for diffusion-based generation. However, the widely adopted uniform point sampling strategy in Shape VAE training often leads to a significant loss of geometric details, limiting the quality of shape reconstruction and downstream generation tasks. We present Dora-VAE, a novel approach that enhances VAE reconstruction through our proposed sharp edge sampling strategy and a dual cross-attention mechanism. By identifying and prioritizing regions with high geometric complexity during training, our method significantly improves the preservation of fine-grained shape features. Such sampling strategy and the dual attention mechanism enable the VAE to focus on crucial geometric details that are typically missed by uniform sampling approaches. To systematically evaluate VAE reconstruction quality, we additionally propose Dora-bench, a benchmark that quantifies shape complexity through the density of sharp edges, introducing a new metric focused on reconstruction accuracy at these salient geometric features. Extensive experiments on the Dora-bench demonstrate that Dora-VAE achieves comparable reconstruction quality to the state-of-the-art dense XCube-VAE while requiring a latent space at least 8$\times$ smaller (1,280 vs. > 10,000 codes).

Mixed-granularity Implicit Representation for Continuous Hyperspectral Compressive Reconstruction

Hyperspectral Images (HSIs) are crucial across numerous fields but are hindered by the long acquisition times associated with traditional spectrometers. The Coded Aperture Snapshot Spectral Imaging (CASSI) system mitigates this issue through a compression technique that accelerates the acquisition process. However, reconstructing HSIs from compressed data presents challenges due to fixed spatial and spectral resolution constraints. This study introduces a novel method using implicit neural representation for continuous hyperspectral image reconstruction. We propose the Mixed Granularity Implicit Representation (MGIR) framework, which includes a Hierarchical Spectral-Spatial Implicit Encoder for efficient multi-scale implicit feature extraction. This is complemented by a Mixed-Granularity Local Feature Aggregator that adaptively integrates local features across scales, combined with a decoder that merges coordinate information for precise reconstruction. By leveraging implicit neural representations, the MGIR framework enables reconstruction at any desired spatial-spectral resolution, significantly enhancing the flexibility and adaptability of the CASSI system. Extensive experimental evaluations confirm that our model produces reconstructed images at arbitrary resolutions and matches state-of-the-art methods across varying spectral-spatial compression ratios. The code will be released at https://github.com/chh11/MGIR.

UniMLVG: Unified Framework for Multi-view Long Video Generation with Comprehensive Control Capabilities for Autonomous Driving

The creation of diverse and realistic driving scenarios has become essential to enhance perception and planning capabilities of the autonomous driving system. However, generating long-duration, surround-view consistent driving videos remains a significant challenge. To address this, we present UniMLVG, a unified framework designed to generate extended street multi-perspective videos under precise control. By integrating single- and multi-view driving videos into the training data, our approach updates a DiT-based diffusion model equipped with cross-frame and cross-view modules across three stages with multi training objectives, substantially boosting the diversity and quality of generated visual content. Importantly, we propose an innovative explicit viewpoint modeling approach for multi-view video generation to effectively improve motion transition consistency. Capable of handling various input reference formats (e.g., text, images, or video), our UniMLVG generates high-quality multi-view videos according to the corresponding condition constraints such as 3D bounding boxes or frame-level text descriptions. Compared to the best models with similar capabilities, our framework achieves improvements of 48.2% in FID and 35.2% in FVD.

Constrained Bandwidth Observation Sharing for Multi-Robot Navigation in Dynamic Environments via Intelligent Knapsack

Multi-robot navigation is increasingly crucial in various domains, including disaster response, autonomous vehicles, and warehouse and manufacturing automation. Robot teams often must operate in highly dynamic environments and under strict bandwidth constraints imposed by communication infrastructure, rendering effective observation sharing within the system a challenging problem. This paper presents a novel optimal communication scheme, Intelligent Knapsack (iKnap), for multi-robot navigation in dynamic environments under bandwidth constraints. We model multi-robot communication as belief propagation in a graph of inferential agents. We then formulate the combinatorial optimization for observation sharing as a 0/1 knapsack problem, where each potential pairwise communication between robots is assigned a decision-making utility to be weighed against its bandwidth cost, and the system has some cumulative bandwidth limit. We evaluate our approach in a simulated robotic warehouse with human workers using ROS2 and the Open Robotics Middleware Framework. Compared to state-of-the-art broadcast-based optimal communication schemes, iKnap yields significant improvements in navigation performance with respect to scenario complexity while maintaining a similar runtime. Furthermore, iKnap utilizes allocated bandwidth and observational resources more efficiently than existing approaches, especially in very low-resource and high-uncertainty settings. Based on these results, we claim that the proposed method enables more robust collaboration for multi-robot teams in real-world navigation problems.

MaskGWM: A Generalizable Driving World Model with Video Mask Reconstruction

World models that forecast environmental changes from actions are vital for autonomous driving models with strong generalization. The prevailing driving world model mainly build on video prediction model. Although these models can produce high-fidelity video sequences with advanced diffusion-based generator, they are constrained by their predictive duration and overall generalization capabilities. In this paper, we explore to solve this problem by combining generation loss with MAE-style feature-level context learning. In particular, we instantiate this target with three key design: (1) A more scalable Diffusion Transformer (DiT) structure trained with extra mask construction task. (2) we devise diffusion-related mask tokens to deal with the fuzzy relations between mask reconstruction and generative diffusion process. (3) we extend mask construction task to spatial-temporal domain by utilizing row-wise mask for shifted self-attention rather than masked self-attention in MAE. Then, we adopt a row-wise cross-view module to align with this mask design. Based on above improvement, we propose MaskGWM: a Generalizable driving World Model embodied with Video Mask reconstruction. Our model contains two variants: MaskGWM-long, focusing on long-horizon prediction, and MaskGWM-mview, dedicated to multi-view generation. Comprehensive experiments on standard benchmarks validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, which contain normal validation of Nuscene dataset, long-horizon rollout of OpenDV-2K dataset and zero-shot validation of Waymo dataset. Quantitative metrics on these datasets show our method notably improving state-of-the-art driving world model.

Boosting Self-Efficacy and Performance of Large Language Models via Verbal Efficacy Stimulations

Significant improvements have been observed in the zero-shot capabilities of the Large Language Models (LLMs). Due to their high sensitivity to input, research has increasingly focused on enhancing LLMs' performance via direct and simple prompt engineering rather than intricate domain adaptation. Studies suggest that LLMs exhibit emotional intelligence, and both positive and negative emotions can potentially enhance task performances. However, prior interaction prompts have predominantly concentrated on a single stimulus type, neglecting to compare different stimulus effects, examine the influence of varying task difficulties, or explore underlying mechanisms. This paper, inspired by the positive correlation between self-efficacy and task performance within the social cognitive theory, introduces Verbal Efficacy Stimulations (VES). Our VES comprises three types of verbal prompts: encouraging, provocative, and critical, addressing six aspects such as helpfulness and competence. And we further categorize task difficulty, aiming to extensively investigate how distinct VES influence the self-efficacy and task achievements of language models at varied levels of difficulty. The experimental results show that the three types of VES improve the performance of LLMs on most tasks, and the most effective VES varies for different models. In extensive experiments, we have obtained some findings consistent with psychological theories, providing novel insights for future research.

Heteroepitaxial growth of highly anisotropic $Sb_{2}Se_{3}$ films on GaAs

The epitaxial integration of anisotropic materials with mainstream cubic semiconductors opens new routes to advanced electronic and photonic devices with directional properties. In this work, we synthesize heteroepitaxial thin films of orthorhombic "quasi-1D" $Sb_{2}Se_{3}$ on cubic GaAs(001) using molecular beam epitaxy. Traditionally, the synthesis of anisotropic films with low symmetry materials is challenging due to multiple grain orientations that form. On a macroscopic scale, such a film tends towards isotropic properties, even if individual grains possess anisotropic responses. We achieve epitaxial $Sb_{2}Se_{3}$ grains on pristine homoepitaxial GaAs templates at low temperatures of 180-200 °C. With the $Sb_{2}Se_{3}$ 1D axis aligned in-plane to GaAs [110] and the primary van der Waals direction lying out-of-plane, we find a birefringence of 0.2 between in-plane orthogonal directions and a giant out-of-plane birefringence greater than 1 at telecom wavelengths. Growth at higher temperatures up to 265 °C yields $Sb_{2}Se_{3}$ of an unusual in-plane rotated texture that further enhances the in-plane optical index anisotropy to 0.3.

Dexterous Safe Control for Humanoids in Cluttered Environments via Projected Safe Set Algorithm

It is critical to ensure safety for humanoid robots in real-world applications without compromising performance. In this paper, we consider the problem of dexterous safety, featuring limb-level geometry constraints for avoiding both external and self-collisions in cluttered environments. Compared to safety with simplified bounding geometries in sprase environments, dexterous safety produces numerous constraints which often lead to infeasible constraint sets when solving for safe robot control. To address this issue, we propose Projected Safe Set Algorithm (p-SSA), an extension of classical safe control algorithms to multi-constraint cases. p-SSA relaxes conflicting constraints in a principled manner, minimizing safety violations to guarantee feasible robot control. We verify our approach in simulation and on a real Unitree G1 humanoid robot performing complex collision avoidance tasks. Results show that p-SSA enables the humanoid to operate robustly in challenging situations with minimal safety violations and directly generalizes to various tasks with zero parameter tuning.
