Profit Allocation in the We Media Value Chain: A Shapley Value-Based Approach

The study takes the social media industry as its research subject and examines the impact of scientific innovation capabilities on profit distribution within the value chain of the social media industry. It proposes a specific solution to the profit distribution problem using an improved Shapley value method. Additionally, the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) is employed to evaluate the profit distribution model, allowing the improved Shapley value method to better address the issue of profit allocation within the value chain of the social media industry. This approach ensures that each member receives a fair share of the profits, fostering strong cooperative relationships among members. Moreover, it compensates for the shortcomings of the traditional Shapley value method in addressing such problems to a certain extent.

From 2D Images to 3D Model:Weakly Supervised Multi-View Face Reconstruction with Deep Fusion

While weakly supervised multi-view face reconstruction (MVR) is garnering increased attention, one critical issue still remains open: how to effectively interact and fuse multiple image information to reconstruct high-precision 3D models. In this regard, we propose a novel pipeline called Deep Fusion MVR (DF-MVR) to explore the feature correspondences between multi-view images and reconstruct high-precision 3D faces. Specifically, we present a novel multi-view feature fusion backbone that utilizes face masks to align features from multiple encoders and integrates one multi-layer attention mechanism to enhance feature interaction and fusion, resulting in one unified facial representation. Additionally, we develop one concise face mask mechanism that facilitates multi-view feature fusion and facial reconstruction by identifying common areas and guiding the network's focus on critical facial features (e.g., eyes, brows, nose, and mouth). Experiments on Pixel-Face and Bosphorus datasets indicate the superiority of our model. Without 3D annotation, DF-MVR achieves 5.2% and 3.0% RMSE improvement over the existing weakly supervised MVRs respectively on Pixel-Face and Bosphorus dataset. Code will be available publicly at https://github.com/weiguangzhao/DF_MVR.

Analyzing Mass School Shootings in the United States from 1999 to 2024 with Game Theory, Probability Analysis, and Machine Learning

Public safety is vital to every country, especially school safety. In the United States, students and educators are concerned about school shootings. There are critical needs to understand the patterns of school shootings. Without this understanding, we cannot take action to prevent school shootings. Existing research that includes statistical analysis usually focuses on public mass shootings or just shooting incidents that have occurred in the past and there are hardly any articles focusing on mass school shootings. Here we firstly define mathematic models through gam theory. Then, we evaluate shootings events in schools for recently 26-year (1999-2024). Compared with the number of mass school shootings in COVID-19 period, we predict the number of mass school shooting events in the US will be reduced through four machine learning models. We also identify that mass school shootings usually take average 31 minutes with four periods. The annual probability of mass school shootings is 1.23 E-5 (or one in 81,604) per school. The shootings mostly occur inside buildings, especially classrooms and hallways. By interpreting these data and conducting various statistical analysis, this will ultimately help the law enforcement and schools to reduce the future school shootings. 6DMA-Aided Hybrid Beamforming with Joint Antenna Position and Orientation Optimization

This paper studies a sub-connected six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA)-aided multi-user communication system. In this system, each sub-array is connected to a dedicated radio frequency chain and collectively moves and rotates as a unit within specific local regions. The movement and rotation capabilities of 6DMAs enhance design flexibility, facilitating the capture of spatial variations for improved communication performance. To fully characterize the effect of antenna position and orientation on wireless channels between the base station (BS) and users, we develop a field-response-based 6DMA channel model to account for the antenna radiation pattern and polarization. We then maximize the sum rate of multiple users, by jointly optimizing the digital and unit-modulus analog beamformers given the transmit power budget as well as the positions and orientations of sub-arrays within given movable and rotatable ranges at the BS. Due to the highly coupled variables, the formulated optimization problem is non-convex and thus challenging to solve. We develop a fractional programming-aided alternating optimization framework that integrates the Lagrange multiplier method, manifold optimization, and gradient descent to solve the problem. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed 6DMA-aided sub-connected structure achieves a substantial sum-rate improvement over various benchmark schemes with less flexibility in antenna movement and can even outperform fully-digital beamforming systems that employ antenna position or orientation adjustments only. The results also highlight the necessity of considering antenna polarization for optimally adjusting antenna orientation.

Movable Antenna Aided NOMA: Joint Antenna Positioning, Precoding, and Decoding Design

This paper investigates movable antenna (MA) aided non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) for multi-user downlink communication, where the base station (BS) is equipped with a fixed-position antenna (FPA) array to serve multiple MA-enabled users. An optimization problem is formulated to maximize the minimum achievable rate among all the users by jointly optimizing the MA positioning of each user, the precoding matrix at the BS, and the successive interference cancellation (SIC) decoding indicator matrix at the users, subject to a set of constraints including the limited movement area of the MAs, the maximum transmit power of the BS, and the SIC decoding condition. To solve this non-convex problem, we propose a two-loop iterative optimization algorithm that combines the hippopotamus optimization (HO) method with the alternating optimization (AO) method to obtain a suboptimal solution efficiently. Specifically, in the inner loop, the complex-valued precoding matrix and the binary decoding indicator matrix are optimized alternatively by the successive convex approximation (SCA) technique with customized greedy search to maximize the minimum achievable rate for the given positions of the MAs. In the outer loop, each user's antenna position is updated using the HO algorithm, following a novel nature-inspired intelligent optimization framework. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithms can effectively avoid local optimum for highly coupled variables and significantly improve the rate performance of the NOMA system compared to the conventional FPA system as well as other benchmark schemes.

InverseCoder: Self-improving Instruction-Tuned Code LLMs with Inverse-Instruct

Recent advancements in open-source code large language models (LLMs) have been driven by fine-tuning on the data generated from powerful closed-source LLMs, which are expensive to obtain. This paper explores whether it is possible to use a fine-tuned open-source model to generate additional data to augment its instruction-tuning dataset. We make two observations: (1) A code snippet can serve as the response to different instructions. (2) Instruction-tuned code LLMs perform better at translating code into instructions than the reverse. Based on these observations, we propose Inverse-Instruct, a data augmentation technique that uses a fine-tuned LLM to generate additional instructions of code responses from its own training dataset. The additional instruction-response pairs are added to the original dataset, and a stronger code LLM can be obtained by fine-tuning on the augmented dataset. We empirically validate Inverse-Instruct on a range of open-source code models (e.g. CodeLlama-Python and DeepSeek-Coder) and benchmarks (e.g., HumanEval(+), MBPP(+), DS-1000 and MultiPL-E), showing it consistently improves the base models.

Towards Better Multi-task Learning: A Framework for Optimizing Dataset Combinations in Large Language Models

To efficiently select optimal dataset combinations for enhancing multi-task learning (MTL) performance in large language models, we proposed a novel framework that leverages a neural network to predict the best dataset combinations. The framework iteratively refines the selection, greatly improving efficiency, while being model-, dataset-, and domain-independent. Through experiments on 12 biomedical datasets across four tasks - named entity recognition, relation extraction, event extraction, and text classification-we demonstrate that our approach effectively identifies better combinations, even for tasks that may seem unpromising from a human perspective. This verifies that our framework provides a promising solution for maximizing MTL potential.

6D Movable Antenna Enhanced Multi-Access Point Coordination via Position and Orientation Optimization

The effective utilization of unlicensed spectrum is regarded as an important direction to enable the massive access and broad coverage for next-generation wireless local area network (WLAN). Due to the crowded spectrum occupancy and dense user terminals (UTs), the conventional fixed antenna (FA)-based access points (APs) face huge challenges in realizing massive access and interference cancellation. To address this issue, in this paper we develop a six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA) enhanced multi-AP coordination system for coverage enhancement and interference mitigation. First, we model the wireless channels between the APs and UTs to characterize their variation with respect to 6DMA movement, in terms of both the three-dimensional (3D) position and 3D orientation of each distributed AP's antenna. Then, an optimization problem is formulated to maximize the weighted sum rate of multiple UTs for their uplink transmissions by jointly optimizing the antenna position vector (APV), the antenna orientation matrix (AOM), and the receive combining matrix over all coordinated APs, subject to the constraints on local antenna movement regions. To solve this challenging non-convex optimization problem, we first transform it into a more tractable Lagrangian dual problem. Then, an alternating optimization (AO)-based algorithm is developed by iteratively optimizing the APV and AOM, which are designed by applying the successive convex approximation (SCA) technique and Riemannian manifold optimization-based algorithm, respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed 6DMA-enhanced multi-AP coordination system can significantly enhance network capacity, and both of the online and offline 6DMA schemes can attain considerable performance improvement compared to the conventional FA-based schemes.

Lattice QCD Calculation of $x$-dependent Meson Distribution Amplitudes at Physical Pion Mass with Threshold Logarithm Resummation

We present a lattice quantum chromodynamics (QCD) calculation of the $x$-dependent pion and kaon distribution amplitudes (DA) in the framework of large momentum effective theory. This calculation is performed on a fine lattice of $a=0.076$ fm at physical pion mass, with the pion boosted to $1.8$ GeV and kaon boosted to $2.3$ GeV. We renormalize the matrix elements in the hybrid scheme and match to $\overline{\rm MS }$ with a subtraction of the leading renormalon in the Wilson-line mass. The perturbative matching is improved by resumming the large logarithms related to the small quark and gluon momenta in the soft-gluon limit. After resummation, we demonstrate that we are able to calculate a range of $x\in[x_0,1-x_0]$ with $x_0=0.25$ for pion and $x_0=0.2$ for kaon with theoretical systematic errors under control. The kaon DA is shown to be slighted skewed, and narrower than pion DA. Although the $x$-dependence cannot be direct calculated beyond these ranges, we estimate higher moments of the pion and kaon DAs by complementing our calculation with short-distance factorization.

Verbosity $\neq$ Veracity: Demystify Verbosity Compensation Behavior of Large Language Models

Although Large Language Models (LLMs) have demonstrated their strong capabilities in various tasks, recent work has revealed LLMs also exhibit undesirable behaviors, such as hallucination and toxicity, limiting their reliability and broader adoption. In this paper, we discover an understudied type of undesirable behavior of LLMs, which we term Verbosity Compensation (VC), similar to the hesitation behavior of humans under uncertainty, where they respond with excessive words such as repeating questions, introducing ambiguity, or providing excessive enumeration. We present the first work that defines and analyzes Verbosity Compensation, explores its causes, and proposes a simple mitigating approach. Our experiments, conducted on five datasets of knowledge and reasoning-based QA tasks with 14 newly developed LLMs, reveal three conclusions. 1) We reveal a pervasive presence of VC across all models and all datasets. Notably, GPT-4 exhibits a VC frequency of 50.40%. 2) We reveal the large performance gap between verbose and concise responses, with a notable difference of 27.61% on the Qasper dataset. We also demonstrate that this difference does not naturally diminish as LLM capability increases. Both 1) and 2) highlight the urgent need to mitigate the frequency of VC behavior and disentangle verbosity with veracity. We propose a simple yet effective cascade algorithm that replaces the verbose responses with the other model-generated responses. The results show that our approach effectively alleviates the VC of the Mistral model from 63.81% to 16.16% on the Qasper dataset. 3) We also find that verbose responses exhibit higher uncertainty across all five datasets, suggesting a strong connection between verbosity and model uncertainty. Our dataset and code are available at https://github.com/psunlpgroup/VerbosityLLM.

Passive Six-Dimensional Movable Antenna (6DMA)-Assisted Multiuser Communication

Six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA) is a promising solution for enhancing wireless network capacity through the adjustment of both three-dimensional (3D) positions and 3D rotations of distributed antenna surfaces. Previous works mainly consider 6DMA surfaces composed of active antenna elements, thus termed as active 6DMA. In this letter, we propose a new passive 6DMA system consisting of distributed passive intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRSs) that can be adjusted in terms of 3D position and 3D rotation. Specifically, we study a passive 6DMA-aided multiuser uplink system and aim to maximize the users' achievable sum rate by jointly optimizing the 3D positions, 3D rotations, and reflection coefficients of all passive 6DMA surfaces, as well as the receive beamforming matrix at the base station (BS). To solve this challenging non-convex optimization problem, we propose an alternating optimization (AO) algorithm that decomposes it into three subproblems and solves them alternately in an iterative manner. Numerical results are presented to investigate the performance of the proposed passive 6DMA system under different configurations and demonstrate its superior performance over the traditional fixed-IRS counterpart for both directive and isotropic radiation patterns of passive reflecting elements.

Distributed Channel Estimation and Optimization for 6D Movable Antenna: Unveiling Directional Sparsity

Six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA) is an innovative technology to improve wireless network capacity by adjusting 3D positions and 3D rotations of antenna surfaces based on channel spatial distribution. However, the existing works on 6DMA have assumed a central processing unit (CPU) to jointly process the signals of all 6DMA surfaces to execute various tasks. This inevitably incurs prohibitively high processing cost for channel estimation. Therefore, we propose a distributed 6DMA processing architecture to reduce processing complexity of CPU by equipping each 6DMA surface with a local processing unit (LPU). In particular, we unveil for the first time a new \textbf{\textit{directional sparsity}} property of 6DMA channels, where each user has significant channel gains only for a (small) subset of 6DMA position-rotation pairs, which can receive direct/reflected signals from users. In addition, we propose a practical three-stage protocol for the 6DMA-equipped base station (BS) to conduct statistical CSI acquisition for all 6DMA candidate positions/rotations, 6DMA position/rotation optimization, and instantaneous channel estimation for user data transmission with optimized 6DMA positions/rotations. Specifically, the directional sparsity is leveraged to develop distributed algorithms for joint sparsity detection and channel power estimation, as well as for directional sparsity-aided instantaneous channel estimation. Using the estimated channel power, we develop a channel power-based optimization algorithm to maximize the ergodic sum rate of the users by optimizing the antenna positions/rotations. Simulation results show that our channel estimation algorithms are more accurate than benchmarks with lower pilot overhead, and our optimization outperforms fluid/movable antennas optimized only in two dimensions (2D), even when the latter have perfect instantaneous CSI.

A Multi-agent Simulation for the Mass School Shootings

The increasing frequency of mass school shootings in the United States has been raised as a critical concern. Active shooters kill innocent students and educators in schools. These tragic events highlight the urgent need for effective strategies to minimize casualties. This study aims to address the challenge of simulating and assessing potential mitigation measures by developing a multi-agent simulation model. Our model is designed to estimate casualty rates and evacuation efficiency during active shooter scenarios within school buildings. The simulation evaluates the impact of a gun detection system on safety outcomes. By simulating school shooting incidents with and without this system, we observe a significant improvement in evacuation rates, which increased from 16.6% to 66.6%. Furthermore, the Gun Detection System reduced the average casualty rate from 24.0% to 12.2% within a period of six minutes, based on a simulated environment with 100 students. We conducted a total of 48 simulations across three different floor layouts, varying the number of students and time intervals to assess the system's adaptability. We anticipate that the research will provide a starting point for demonstrating that a gunshot detection system can significantly improve both evacuation rates and casualty reduction.

A Survey of Wireless Sensing Security from a Role-Based View: Victim, Weapon, and Shield

Wireless sensing technology has become prevalent in healthcare, smart homes, and autonomous driving due to its non-contact operation, penetration capabilities, and cost-effectiveness. As its applications expand, the technology faces mounting security challenges: sensing systems can be attack targets, signals can be weaponized, or signals can function as security shields. Despite these security concerns significantly impacting the technology's development, a systematic review remains lacking. This paper presents the first comprehensive survey of wireless sensing security through a role-based perspective. Analyzing over 200 publications from 2020-2024, we propose a novel classification framework that systematically categorizes existing research into three main classes: (1) wireless systems as victims of attacks, (2) wireless signals as weapons for attacks, and (3) wireless signals as shields for security applications. This role-based classification method is not only intuitive and easy to understand, but also reflects the essential connection between wireless signals and security issues. Through systematic literature review and quantitative analysis, this paper outlines a panoramic view of wireless sensing security, revealing key technological trends and innovation opportunities, thereby helping to promote the development of this field. When Can LLMs Actually Correct Their Own Mistakes? A Critical Survey of Self-Correction of LLMs

Self-correction is an approach to improving responses from large language models (LLMs) by refining the responses using LLMs during inference. Prior work has proposed various self-correction frameworks using different sources of feedback, including self-evaluation and external feedback. However, there is still no consensus on the question of when LLMs can correct their own mistakes, as recent studies also report negative results. In this work, we critically survey broad papers and discuss the conditions required for successful self-correction. We first find that prior studies often do not define their research questions in detail and involve impractical frameworks or unfair evaluations that over-evaluate self-correction. To tackle these issues, we categorize research questions in self-correction research and provide a checklist for designing appropriate experiments. Our critical survey based on the newly categorized research questions shows that (1) no prior work demonstrates successful self-correction with feedback from prompted LLMs, except for studies in tasks that are exceptionally suited for self-correction, (2) self-correction works well in tasks that can use reliable external feedback, and (3) large-scale fine-tuning enables self-correction.

6DMA-Aided Cell-Free Massive MIMO Communication

In this letter, we propose a six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA)-aided cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system to fully exploit its macro spatial diversity, where a set of distributed access points (APs), each equipped with multiple 6DMA surfaces, cooperatively serve all users in a given area. Connected to a central processing unit (CPU) via fronthaul links, 6DMA-APs can optimize their combining vectors for decoding the users' information based on either local channel state information (CSI) or global CSI shared among them. We aim to maximize the average achievable sum-rate via jointly optimizing the rotation angles of all 6DMA surfaces at all APs, based on the users' spatial distribution. Since the formulated problem is non-convex and highly non-linear, we propose a Bayesian optimization-based algorithm to solve it efficiently. Simulation results show that, by enhancing signal power and mitigating interference through reduced channel cross-correlation among users, 6DMA-APs with optimized rotations can significantly improve the average sum-rate, as compared to the conventional cell-free network with fixed-position antennas and that with only a single centralized AP with optimally rotated 6DMAs, especially when the user distribution is more spatially diverse.

Improved calculation of the Young's modulus of rectangular prisms from their resonant frequency overtones by identifying appropriate shear constants

Young's modulus is an important parameter for characterizing the strength of, and wave propagation through, a given material. This study improves the estimation of Young's modulus using the impulse excitation (IE) technique based on an experimental analysis of 19 borosilicate glass bars. Analysis of the frequency equations relating Young's modulus to the out of plane and in plane flexural resonant frequencies of rectangular prisms has been conducted for both the fundamental frequency and its overtones at higher orders of vibration. The Young's modulus of three novaculite rocks with various porosities were then measured up to the seventh order of vibration to validate the optimum shear constant equation for estimating Young's modulus. Young's modulus was found to be nearly frequency independent for these rock samples.

Reconfigurable Holographic Surface: A New Paradigm for Ultra-Massive MIMO

Evolving from massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) in current 5G communications, ultra-massive MIMO emerges as a seminal technology for fulfilling more stringent requirements of future 6G communications. However, widely-utilized phased arrays relying on active components make the implementation of ultra-massive MIMO in practice increasingly prohibitive from both cost and power consumption perspectives. In contrast, the development of reconfigurable holographic surface (RHS) provides a new paradigm to solve the above issue without the need of costly hardware components. By leveraging the holographic principle, the RHS serves as an ultra-thin and lightweight surface antenna integrated with the transceiver, which is a promising alternative to phased arrays for realizing ultra-massive MIMO. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive overview of the RHS, especially the RHS-aided communication and sensing. We first describe the basic concepts of RHS, and introduce its working principle and unique practical constraints. Moreover, we show how to utilize the RHS to achieve cost-efficient and high-performance wireless communication and sensing, and introduce the key technologies. In particular, we present the implementation of RHS with a wireless communication prototype, and report the experimental measurement results based on it. Finally, we outline some open challenges and potential future directions in this area.
