HitMem: Hierarchical Temporal 3D Memory with Multi-Modal Context-Aware Retrieval for Dynamic Environments

Executing long-term tasks in dynamic environments requires embodied agents to maintain robust and adaptive 3D scene representations. However, most existing 3D memory frameworks rely on static world assumptions. When objects are displaced by human activities or unobserved events, agents encounter memory-observation conflicts and often require costly geometric recomputations or inefficient global re-exploration. To address this, we propose HitMem, a hierarchical temporal 3D memory framework with a multi-modal context-aware retrieval mechanism. Through continuous perception, HitMem unifies semantic and spatial information into a lightweight topological graph that captures support relationships, while a temporal decay mechanism dynamically regulates memory activeness to mitigate the impact of stale representations. In addition, the multi-modal context-aware retrieval mechanism defaults to filtering candidates using integrated semantic, spatial, and temporal memory features, and activates a specialized two-stage retrieval process when object displacement is detected. This process combines spatial constraints inferred from external agent trajectories with semantic common sense grounded in class affinities, efficiently identifying high-probability candidate regions. Extensive evaluations on our constructed Dyna-THOR benchmark demonstrate that HitMem significantly improves object relocation accuracy, reduces exploration costs, and enhances task execution performance in dynamic environments.

TMR-VLA:Vision-Language-Action Model for Magnetic Motion Control of Tri-leg Silicone-based Soft Robot

In-vivo environments, magnetically actuated soft robots offer advantages such as wireless operation and precise control, showing promising potential for painless detection and therapeutic procedures. We developed a trileg magnetically driven soft robot (TMR) whose multi-legged design enables more flexible gaits and diverse motion patterns. For the silicone made of reconfigurable soft robots, its navigation ability can be separated into sequential motions, namely squatting, rotation, lifting a leg, walking and so on. Its motion and behavior depend on its bending shapes. To bridge motion type description and specific low-level voltage control, we introduced TMR-VLA, an end-to-end multi-modal system for a trileg magnetic soft robot capable of performing hybrid motion types, which is promising for developing a navigation ability by adapting its shape to language-constrained motion types. The TMR-VLA deploys embodied endoluminal localization ability from EndoVLA, and fuses sequential frames and natural language commands as input. Low-level voltage output is generated based on the current observation state and specific motion type description. The result shows the TMR-VLA can predict how the voltage applied to TMR will change the dynamics of a silicon-made soft robot. The TMR-VLA reached a 74% average success rate.

Trading with Time Series Causal Discovery: An Empirical Study

This study investigates the application of causal discovery algorithms in equity markets, with a focus on their potential to build investment strategies. An investment strategy was developed based on the causal structures identified by these algorithms. The performance of the strategy is evaluated based on the profitability and effectiveness in stock markets. The results indicate that causal discovery algorithms can successfully uncover actionable causal relationships in large markets, leading to profitable investment outcomes. However, the research also identifies a critical challenge: the computational complexity and scalability of these algorithms when dealing with large datasets. This challenge presents practical limitations for their application in real-world market analysis.

Head Pose Estimation and 3D Neural Surface Reconstruction via Monocular Camera in situ for Navigation and Safe Insertion into Natural Openings

As the significance of simulation in medical care and intervention continues to grow, it is anticipated that a simplified and low-cost platform can be set up to execute personalized diagnoses and treatments. 3D Slicer can not only perform medical image analysis and visualization but can also provide surgical navigation and surgical planning functions. In this paper, we have chosen 3D Slicer as our base platform and monocular cameras are used as sensors. Then, We used the neural radiance fields (NeRF) algorithm to complete the 3D model reconstruction of the human head. We compared the accuracy of the NeRF algorithm in generating 3D human head scenes and utilized the MarchingCube algorithm to generate corresponding 3D mesh models. The individual's head pose, obtained through single-camera vision, is transmitted in real-time to the scene created within 3D Slicer. The demonstrations presented in this paper include real-time synchronization of transformations between the human head model in the 3D Slicer scene and the detected head posture. Additionally, we tested a scene where a tool, marked with an ArUco Maker tracked by a single camera, synchronously points to the real-time transformation of the head posture. These demos indicate that our methodology can provide a feasible real-time simulation platform for nasopharyngeal swab collection or intubation.

Joint Sparse Representations and Coupled Dictionary Learning in Multi-Source Heterogeneous Image Pseudo-color Fusion

Considering that Coupled Dictionary Learning (CDL) method can obtain a reasonable linear mathematical relationship between resource images, we propose a novel CDL-based Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and multispectral pseudo-color fusion method. Firstly, the traditional Brovey transform is employed as a pre-processing method on the paired SAR and multispectral images. Then, CDL is used to capture the correlation between the pre-processed image pairs based on the dictionaries generated from the source images via enforced joint sparse coding. Afterward, the joint sparse representation in the pair of dictionaries is utilized to construct an image mask via calculating the reconstruction errors, and therefore generate the final fusion image. The experimental verification results of the SAR images from the Sentinel-1 satellite and the multispectral images from the Landsat-8 satellite show that the proposed method can achieve superior visual effects, and excellent quantitative performance in terms of spectral distortion, correlation coefficient, MSE, NIQE, BRISQUE, and PIQE.
