Application of Machine Learning on sequential deconvolution and convolution techniques for analysis of Nuclear Track Detector (NTD) images

A novel image analysis algorithm as applied to images of Nuclear Track Detectors (NTD) is presented. This process, involving sequential application of deconvolution and convolution techniques, followed by the application of Artificial Neural Network (ANN), is identifying the etch-pit openings in NTD images with a higher degree of success compared to other conventional image analysis techniques.

Acceleration of charged particles in rotating magnetized star

Charged particles at the crust of compact stars may be ejected and accelerated by the electric field generated due to the rotation of the magnetized star. For neutron or hybrid stars, the negatively charged particles are usually electrons, and the positively charged particles are mainly protons and Iron. Whereas the existence of strange stars also includes the possibility of ejection of strangelets from the star surface. The flux of such strangelets emitted from all known pulsars is in the range of $10^9-10^{10}$ GeV. Therefore, such massive strangelets can be one of the candidates for the sources of the highest-energy cosmic rays that have still eluded us. Our model proposes a possible origin of these ultra high energy cosmic rays.

Convolution based hybrid image processing technique for microscopic images of etch-pits in Nuclear Track Detectors

A novel image processing technique based on convolution is developed for analyzing the etch-pit images in Nuclear Track Detectors (NTDs). The outcomes of the application of the proposed method on the different types of NTDs (e.g., CR-39, PET) containing etch-pit openings of different sizes and shapes (circular and elliptical) is presented. Promising results have been obtained for both identifying and counting the etch-pits in NTDs.
