User-Centric Data Management in Decentralized Internet of Behaviors System

The Internet of Behaviors (IoB) is an emerging concept that utilizes devices to collect human behavior and provide intelligent services. Although some research has focused on human behavior analysis and data collection within IoB, the associated security and privacy challenges remain insufficiently explored. This paper analyzes the security and privacy risks at different stages of behavioral data generating, uploading, and using, while also considering the dynamic characteristics of user activity areas. Then, we propose a blockchain-based distributed IoB data storage and sharing framework, which is categorized into sensing, processing, and management layers based on these stages. To accommodate both identity authentication and behavioral privacy, zero-knowledge proofs are used in the sensing layer to separate the correlation between behavior and identity, which is further extended to a distributed architecture for cross-domain authentication. In the processing layer, an improved consensus protocol is proposed to enhance the decision-making efficiency of distributed IoB by analyzing the geographical and computational capability of the servers. In the management layer, user permission differences and the privacy of access targets are considered. Different types of behavior are modeled as corresponding relationships between keys, and fine-grained secure access is achieved through function secret sharing. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework in multi-scenario IoB, with average consensus and authentication times reduced by 74% and 56%, respectively.

A Robust Multisource Remote Sensing Image Matching Method Utilizing Attention and Feature Enhancement Against Noise Interference

Image matching is a fundamental and critical task of multisource remote sensing image applications. However, remote sensing images are susceptible to various noises. Accordingly, how to effectively achieve accurate matching in noise images is a challenging problem. To solve this issue, we propose a robust multisource remote sensing image matching method utilizing attention and feature enhancement against noise interference. In the first stage, we combine deep convolution with the attention mechanism of transformer to perform dense feature extraction, constructing feature descriptors with higher discriminability and robustness. Subsequently, we employ a coarse-to-fine matching strategy to achieve dense matches. In the second stage, we introduce an outlier removal network based on a binary classification mechanism, which can establish effective and geometrically consistent correspondences between images; through weighting for each correspondence, inliers vs. outliers classification are performed, as well as removing outliers from dense matches. Ultimately, we can accomplish more efficient and accurate matches. To validate the performance of the proposed method, we conduct experiments using multisource remote sensing image datasets for comparison with other state-of-the-art methods under different scenarios, including noise-free, additive random noise, and periodic stripe noise. Comparative results indicate that the proposed method has a more well-balanced performance and robustness. The proposed method contributes a valuable reference for solving the difficult problem of noise image matching.

Interest-Aware Joint Caching, Computing, and Communication Optimization for Mobile VR Delivery in MEC Networks

In the upcoming B5G/6G era, virtual reality (VR) over wireless has become a typical application, which is an inevitable trend in the development of video. However, in immersive and interactive VR experiences, VR services typically exhibit high delay, while simultaneously posing challenges for the energy consumption of local devices. To address these issues, this paper aims to improve the performance of the VR service in the edge-terminal cooperative system. Specifically, we formulate a problem of joint caching, computing, and communication VR service policy, by optimizing the weighted sum of overall VR delivery delay and energy consumption of local devices. For the purpose of designing the optimal VR service policy, the optimization problem is decoupled into three independent subproblems to be solved separately. To enhance the caching efficiency within the network, a bidirectional encoder representations from transformers (Bert)-based user interest analysis method is first proposed to characterize the content requesting behavior accurately. On the basis of this, a service cost minimum-maximization problem is formulated with consideration of performance fairness among users. Thereafter, the joint caching and computing scheme is derived for each user with given allocation of communication resources while a bisection-based communication scheme is acquired with the given information on joint caching and computing policy. With alternative optimization, an optimal policy for joint caching, computing and communication based on user interest can be finally obtained. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed user interest-aware caching scheme and the effective of the joint caching, computing and communication optimization policy with consideration of user fairness.

Depersonalized Federated Learning: Tackling Statistical Heterogeneity by Alternating Stochastic Gradient Descent

Federated learning (FL), which has gained increasing attention recently, enables distributed devices to train a common machine learning (ML) model for intelligent inference cooperatively without data sharing. However, problems in practical networks, such as non-independent-and-identically-distributed (non-iid) raw data and limited bandwidth, give rise to slow and unstable convergence of the FL training process. To address these issues, we propose a new FL method that can significantly mitigate statistical heterogeneity through the depersonalization mechanism. Particularly, we decouple the global and local optimization objectives by alternating stochastic gradient descent, thus reducing the accumulated variance in local update phases to accelerate the FL convergence. Then we analyze the proposed method detailedly to show the proposed method converging at a sublinear speed in the general non-convex setting. Finally, numerical results are conducted with experiments on public datasets to verify the effectiveness of our proposed method.

A Probabilistic Bound for Peak Age of Information Guarantee

This paper considers the distribution of a general peak age of information (AoI) model and develops a general analysis approach for probabilistic performance guarantee from the time-domain perspective. Firstly, a general relationship between the peak AoI and the inter-arrival and service times of packets is revealed. With the help of martingale theory, a probabilistic bound on the peak AoI is then derived for the general case of endogenous independently and identically distributed increments in information generation and transmission processes. Thereafter, the application of the obtained bound is illustrated with the M/M/1 and D/M/1 queuing models. The validity of the proposed bound is finally examined with numerical results.

Edge-Cloud Collaboration Enabled Video Service Enhancement: A Hybrid Human-Artificial Intelligence Scheme

In this paper, a video service enhancement strategy is investigated under an edge-cloud collaboration framework, where video caching and delivery decisions are made in the cloud and edge respectively. We aim to guarantee the user fairness in terms of video coding rate under statistical delay constraint and edge caching capacity constraint. A hybrid human-artificial intelligence approach is developed to improve the user hit rate for video caching. Specifically, individual user interest is first characterized by merging factorization machine (FM) model and multi-layer perceptron (MLP) model, where both low-order and high-order features can be well learned simultaneously. Thereafter, a social aware similarity model is constructed to transferred individual user interest to group interest, based on which, videos can be selected to cache. Furthermore, a double bisection exploration scheme is proposed to optimize wireless resource allocation and video coding rate. The effectiveness of the proposed video caching scheme and video delivery scheme is finally validated by extensive experiments with a real-world data set.
