Leaky Zero Forcing on Induced Subgraphs of $d$-dimensional Grid Graphs with an Application to Hopi Rectangles

We study zero forcing and $\ell$-leaky zero forcing on induced subgraphs of $d$-dimensional grid graphs. Using $\ell$-leaky forts, we prove structural results showing that for $\ell \le 2d-1$, every nonempty $\ell$-leaky fort in an induced subgraph of $P_{n_1}\square\cdots\square P_{n_d}$ intersects the boundary of the graph. These results give general bounds and, in certain settings, exact values for the $\ell$-leaky forcing number of induced subgraphs. Motivated by this framework, we introduce an integer lattice based definition of the Hopi rectangle graphs $HD(a,b)$ as induced subgraphs of $P_{a+b}\square P_{a+b}$. For this particular family of graphs, we show that the zero forcing number equals the maximum nullity, and we completely characterize the $\ell$-leaky forcing number for all $\ell\ge 1$.

Leaky Forcing: Extending Zero Forcing Results to a Fault-Tolerant Setting

We study a recent variation of zero forcing called leaky forcing. Zero forcing is a propagation process on a network whereby some nodes are initially blue with all others white. Blue vertices can "force" a white neighbor to become blue if all other neighbors are blue. The goal is to find the minimum number of initially blue vertices to eventually force all vertices blue after exhaustively applying the forcing rule above. Leaky forcing is a fault-tolerant variation of zero forcing where certain vertices (not necessarily initially blue) cannot force. The goal in this context is to find the minimum number of initially blue vertices needed that can eventually force all vertices to be blue, regardless of which small number of vertices can't force. This work extends results from zero forcing in terms of leaky forcing. In particular, we provide a complete determination of leaky forcing numbers for all unicyclic graphs and upper bounds for generalized Petersen graphs. We also provide bounds for the effect of both edge removal and vertex removal on the $\ell$-leaky forcing number. Finally, we completely characterize connected graphs that have the minimum and maximum possible $1$-leaky forcing number (i.e., when $Z_{1}(G) = 2$ and when $Z_{1}(G) = |V(G)|-1$).

Leaky Positive Semidefinite Forcing on Graphs

We introduce $\ell$-leaky positive semidefinite forcing and the $\ell$-leaky positive semidefinite number of a graph, $Z_{(\ell)}^+{G}$, which combines the positive semidefinite color change rule with the addition of leaks to the graph. Furthermore, we determine general properties of $Z_{(\ell)}^+{G}$ and $Z_{(\ell)}^+{G}$ for various graphs, including path graphs, complete graphs, wheel graphs, complete bipartite graphs, trees, hypercubes, and prisms. We also define $\ell$-leaky positive semidefinite forts with the purpose of unveiling differences between $\ell$-leaky standard forcing and $\ell$-leaky positive semidefinite forcing.

On the zero forcing number of the complement of graphs with forbidden subgraphs

Motivated in part by an observation that the zero forcing number for the complement of a tree on $n$ vertices is either $n-3$ or $n-1$ in one exceptional case, we consider the zero forcing number for the complement of more general graphs under some conditions, particularly those that do not contain complete bipartite subgraphs. We also move well beyond trees and completely study all of the possible zero forcing numbers for the complements of unicyclic graphs and cactus graphs.

Generalized Demazure Modules and Prime Representations in Type $D_n$

The goal of this paper is to understand the graded limit of a family of irreducible prime representations of the quantum affine algebra associated to a simply-laced simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. This family was introduced by David Hernandez and Bernard Leclerc in the context of monoidal categorification of cluster algebras. The graded limit of a member of this family is an indecomposable graded module for the current algebra $\mathfrak{g}[t]$; or equivalently a module for the maximal standard parabolic subalgebra in the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}$. In this paper we study the case when $\mathfrak{g}$ is of type $D_n$. We show that in certain cases the limit is a generalized Demazure module, i.e., it is a submodule of a tensor product of level one Demazure modules. We give a presentation of these modules and compute their graded character (and hence also the character of the prime representations) in terms of Demazure modules of level two.
