Data-Free PINNs for Compressible Flows: Mitigating Spectral Bias and Gradient Pathologies via Mach-Guided Scaling and Hybrid Convolutions

This paper presents a fully data-free Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN) capable of solving compressible inviscid flows (ranging from supersonic to hypersonic, up to Ma=15, where Ma is the Mach number) around a circular cylinder. To overcome the spatial blindness of standard Multi-Layer Perceptrons, a structured hybrid architecture combining radial 1D convolutions with anisotropic azimuthal 2D convolutions is proposed to embed directional inductive biases. For stable optimization across disparate flow regimes, a regime-dependent, Mach-number-guided dynamic residual scaling strategy is introduced. Crucially, this approach scales down residuals to mitigate extreme gradient stiffness in high-Mach regimes, while applying penalty multipliers to overcome the inherent spectral bias and explicitly enforce weak shock discontinuities in low-supersonic flows. Furthermore, to establish a global thermodynamic anchor essential for stable shock wave capturing, exact analytical solutions at the stagnation point are embedded into the loss formulation. This is coupled with a novel "Upstream Fixing" boundary loss and a Total Variation (TV) loss to explicitly suppress upstream noise and the non-physical carbuncle phenomenon. The proposed framework successfully captures the detached bow shock without referential data. While the requisite artificial viscosity yields a slightly thicker shock wave compared to computational fluid dynamics, the proposed method demonstrates unprecedented stability and physical fidelity for data-free PINNs in extreme aerodynamics.

Effective Infection Opportunity Population (EIOP) Hypothesis in Applying SIR Infection Theory

The SIR infection theory initiated by Kermack-Mckendrick in 1927 discusses the infection in an isolated population with uniform properties such as the uniform population distribution. In the infection, there exist two aspects: (1) The quantitative aspect and (2) the temporal aspect. Since the SIR theory is a mean-field theory, it can't match both aspects simultaneously. If the quantitative aspect is matched, the temporal aspect can't be matched, versa. The infection starts from a cluster, and it spreads to different places increasing the size of the infection. In general, even in the case of the infection in a big city, the infection grows within a limited population. Namiki found and named this kind of population as an effective population. He proposes that if the hypothesis is adopted, the quantitative and temporal aspects can be matched simultaneously.

Numerical method toward fast and accurate calculation of dilute quantum gas using Uehling-Uhlenbeck model equation

The numerical method toward the fast and accurate calculation of the dilute quantum gas is studied by proposing the Uehing-Uhlenbeck (U-U) model equation. In particular, the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method is used to solve the U-U model equation. The DSMC analysis of the U-U model equation surely enables us to obtain the accurate thermalization using a small number of sample particles and calculate the dilute quantum gas dynamics in practical time. Finally, the availability of the DSMC analysis of the U-U model equation toward the fast and accurate calculation of the dilute quantum gas is confirmed by calculating the viscosity coefficient of the Bose gas on the basis of Green-Kubo expression or shock layer of the dilute Bose gas around a circular cylinder

Thermal fluctuations of granular gas driven by Gaussian thermostat based on two-point kinetic theory

In this paper, we investigate thermal fluctuations of the granular gas, which is driven by Gaussian thermostat, on the basis of two-point kinetic theory. In particular, we consider thermal fluctuations of the inelastic variable sphere, which was proposed by Yano [J. Phys. A, 46 (37), 375502 (2013)]. Time correlations of thermal fluctuations of the pressure deviator and two times of the heat flux are calculated on the basis of the two-point kinetic theory and compared with their numerical results, which are calculated using the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. Finally, we compare transport coefficients, which are calculated on the basis of the kinetic theory, with those calculated using the DSMC method.

Dissipation process of binary mixture gas in thermally relativistic flow

In this paper, we discuss dissipation process of the binary mixture gas in the thermally relativistic flow \textcolor{red}{by focusing on the characteristics of the diffusion flux}. As an analytical object, we consider the relativistic rarefied-shock layer problem around the triangle prism. Numerical results of the diffusion flux are compared with the Navier-Stokes-Fourier (NSF) order approximation of the diffusion flux, which is calculated using the diffusion and thermal-diffusion coefficients by Kox \textit{et al}. [Physica A, 84, 1, pp.165-174 (1976)]. In the case of the uniform flow with the small Lorentz contraction, the diffusion flux, which is obtained by calculating the relativistic Boltzmann equation, is roughly approximated by the NSF order approximation inside the shock wave, whereas the diffusion flux in the vicinity of the wall is markedly different from the NSF order approximation. The magnitude of the diffusion flux, which is obtained by calculating the relativistic Boltzmann equation, is similar to that of the NSF order approximation inside the shock wave, unlike the pressure deviator, dynamic pressure and heat flux, even when the Lorentz contraction in the uniform flow becomes large, because the diffusion flux does not depend on the generic Knudsen number from its definition in Eckart's frame. \textcolor{red}{Finally, the author concludes that the accurate diffusion flux must be calculated from the particle four flow, which is formulated using the four velocity distinguished by each species of particles.

Opinion formation with upper and lower bounds

We investigate the opinion formation with upper and lower bounds. We formulate the binary exchange of opinions between two individuals, and effects of the self-thinking and political party using the relativistic Boltzmann-Vlasov type equation with the randomly perturbed motion. The convergent form of the distribution function is determined by the balance between the cooling rate via the binary exchange of opinions between two individuals and the concentration of opinions by the political party, and heating rate via the self-thinking.

From conduction to convection of thermally relativistic fluids between two parallel walls under gravitational force

We discuss the thermal conduction and convection of thermally relativistic fluids between two parallel walls under the gravitational force, both theoretically and numerically. In the theoretical discussion, we assume that the Lorentz contraction is ignored and spacetime is flat. For understanding of the thermal conduction and convection of thermally relativistic fluids between two parallel walls under the gravitational force, we solve the relativistic Boltzmann equation using the direct simulation Monte Carlo method. Numerical results indicate that strongly nonequilibrium states are formed in vicinities of two walls, which do not allow us to discuss the transition of the thermal conduction to the thermal convection of thermally relativistic fluids under the gravitational force in the framework of the relativistic Navier-Stokes-Fourier equation, when the flow-field is under the transition regime between the rarefied and continuum regimes, whereas such strongly nonequilibrium states are not formed in vicinities of two walls under the nonrelativistic limit.

1D inelastic relativistic-collision

In this paper, we discuss one dimensional inelastic relativistic-collisions in the framework of the relativistic kinetic theory. In particular, we focus on the relativistic effects on time evolutions of the temperature and flow velocity under the spatially homogeneous state. As a result of the relativistic effects, we obtain the characteristic time evolutions of the temperature and flow velocity, which are never obtained under the nonrelativistic limit.

Kinetic modeling of opinion formation of peoples via multiple political parties

We investigate the opinion formation among the peoples and multiple political parties using the one dimensional relativistic Boltzmann-Vlasov equation for multi-components. A political party is constituted of politicians. The opinion formation depends on self-thinkings of peoples and politicians, and the constraint of the political party over opinions of politicians, when we restrict ourselves to the conciliatory exchange of opinions between two individuals. In particular, shock like profiles are obtained in the distribution of opinions of peoples, when the self-thinking of politicians are absent at the binary exchange of opinions between two politicians in the same political party.

Thermal fluctuations of granular gas under HCS using two-point kinetic theory

Thermal fluctuations of the granular gas under the homogeneous cooling state (HCS) are estimated using two-point kinetic theory by Tsuge-Sagara. Thermal fluctuations of the elastic gas are modified for the granular gas by nonequilibrium moments, which defines the distribution function under the HCS. The deviations of thermal fluctuations for the granular gas from those for the elastic gas obtained by the fluctuation-dissipation theorem are calculated as a function of the restitution coefficient.

Flux-Vector-Splitting (FVS) method for Z4 formalism and its numerical analysis

The previously developed Flux-Vector-Splitting (FVS) method was formulated here for the first-order version of Z4 formalism. Then, the characteristics of this method formulated for Z4 formalism were studied by numerically analyzing the evolution of two types of black holes (free and stuffed). Finally, these numerical results from the FVS method were compared with those from the Local Lax Friedrichs and Modified Local Lax Friedrichs methods to reveal the dependency of numerical solution by Z4 formalism on the choice of numerical scheme.

Numerical Analysis of Relativistic Boltzmann-kinetic Equations to Solve Relativistic Shock Layer Problems

The relativistic shock layer problem was numerically analyzed by using two relativistic Boltzmann-kinetic equations. One is Marle model, and the other is Anderson-Witting model. As with Marle model, the temperature of the gain term was determined from its relation with the dynamic pressure in the framework of 14-moments theory. From numerical results of the relativistic shock layer problem, behaviors of projected moments in the nonequilibrium region were clarified. Profiles of the heat flux given by Marle model and Anderson-Witting model were quite adverse to the profile of the heat flux approximated by Navier-Stokes-Fourier law. On the other hand, profiles of the heat flux given by Marle model and Anderson-Witting model were similar to the profile approximated by Navier-Stokes-Fourier law. Additionally we discuss the differences between Anderson-Witting model and Marle model by focusing on the fact that the relaxational rate of the distribution function depends on both flow velocity and molecular velocity for Anderson-Witting model, while it depends only on the molecular velocity for Marle model.
