Problem-Specific Basis Quantum State Readout via Proper Orthogonal Decomposition

Quantum computing is a promising technology for accelerating partial differential equation solvers applied to large-scale real-world problems. However, reconstructing a classical representation of the solution from the quantum state remains a significant bottleneck. We propose a problem-specific method, called proper orthogonal decomposition-based readout (PODR), to improve readout efficiency by precomputing characteristic features of the solution. The present method consists of an offline stage and an online stage. In the offline stage, a set of basis functions representing the dominant features of the target problem is constructed from representative solution data using classical computations. In the online stage, the quantum state is projected onto this reduced basis, and only the minimal set of weight coefficients is extracted to reconstruct the solution. Since the offline stage is carried out only once, the proposed PODR method is especially advantageous for simulations with varying parameters, which are common in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Futhermore, we apply the proposed method to benchmark problems in fluid dynamics and demonstrate that PODR significantly reduces both the number of measurements and the computational resources in the online stage compared with conventional readout methods.

Sign-reversal and non-monotonicity of chirality-related anomalous Hall effect in highly conductive metals

The non-monotonic temperature dependence and sign reversal of chirality-related anomalous Hall effect in highly conductive metals are studied. Through the analysis of scattering rate, we find that the non-monotonicity and sign reversal have two major origins: (1) competition between the contribution from short-range and long-range spin correlations and (2) non-monotonic spin correlation in the high field. The former mechanism gives rise to non-monotonic temperature dependence in a wide range of electron density and, in some cases, a sign reversal of Hall resistivity as the temperature decreases. On the other hand, the latter mechanism is responsible for the sign reversal of Hall conductivity in the high field, which sign reversal generally occurs in magnets with antiferromagnetic interactions. The results demonstrate how the Hall effect reflects local spin correlation and provide insights into the mechanism of non-monotonicity and sign reversal of the anomalous Hall effect by spin chirality.

Anomalous Hall effect by chiral spin textures in two-dimensional Luttinger model

Long-range magnetic textures, such as magnetic skyrmion, give rise to rich transport properties in magnetic metals, such as the anomalous Hall effect related to spin chirality, a.k.a. topological Hall effect. In addition to the topological Hall effect, recent studies on non-centrosymmetric magnets find that the spin-orbit interaction of itinerant electrons gives rise to novel contributions related to spin chirality, i.e., the chiral Hall effect. In this work, we discuss that the spin-orbit interaction has a distinct, yet significant, effect on the anomalous Hall effect related to spin chirality in centrosymmetric magnets. Using a scattering theory method, we find that the anomalous Hall effect related to scalar spin chirality in a two-dimensional Luttinger model is suppressed by more than one order of magnitude compared to the quadratic dispersion, and the contributions similar to the chiral Hall effect in Rashba model vanishes. At the same time, a novel term that gives different Hall conductivity for the Bloch and Neel skyrmions occurs, thereby enabling the detection of the skyrmion helicity. The striking differences demonstrate the rich effect of crystal symmetry on the chirality-related anomalous Hall effect in materials with strong spin-orbit interaction.
