p-Adic analysis in the Lizorkin type spaces: fractional operators, pseudo-differential equations and Tauberian theorems

In this paper the p -adic Lizorkin spaces of test functions and distributions are introduced, and multidimensional Vladimirov's and Taibleson's fractional operators are studied on these spaces. Since the p -adic Lizorkin spaces are invariant under the Vladimirov and Taibleson operators, they can play a key role in considerations related to fractional operator problems. A class of p -adic pseudo-differential operators in the Lizorkin spaces is also introduced and solutions of pseudo-differential equations are constructed. p -Adic multidimensional Tauberian theorems connected with fractional operators and pseudo-differential operators for the Lizorkin distributions are also proved.

Nontrivial models with indefinite metric

The non perturbative construction of quantum field models with nontrivial scattering in arbitrary dimension $d$ of the underlying Minkowski space-time is much more simple in the framework of quantum field theory with indefinite metric than in the positive metric case. In particular, there exist a number of solutions in the physical dimension $d=4$, where up to now no positive metric solutions are known. Here we review, why this is so, and we discuss some examples obtained by analytic continuation from the solutions of Euclidean covariant stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs) driven by non-Gaussian white noise.

Partly Divisible Probability Distributions

Given a probability distribution $μ$ a set $Λ(μ)$ of positive real numbers is introduced, so that $Λ(μ)$ measures the "divisibility" of $μ$. The basic properties of $Λ(μ)$ are described and examples of probability distributions are given, which exhibit the existence of a continuum of situations interpolating the extreme cases of infinitely and minimally divisible probability distributions.

Partly divisible probability measures on locally compact Abelian groups

A notion of admissible probability measures $μ$ on a locally compact Abelian group (LCA-group) $G$ with connected dual group $\hat G=\R^d\times \T^n$ is defined. To such a measure $μ$, a closed semigroup $Λ(μ)\subseteq (0,\infty)$ can be associated, such that, for $t\in Λ(μ)$, the Fourier transform to the power $t$, $(\hat μ)^t$, is a characteristic function. We prove that the existence of roots for non admissible probability measures underlies some restrictions, which do not hold in the admissible case. As we show for the example $\Z_2$, in the case of LCA-groups with non connected dual group, there is no canonical definition of the set $Λ(μ)$.

Scattering theory for quantum fields with indefinite metric

In this work, we discuss the scattering theory of local, relativistic quantum fields with indefinite metric. Since the results of Haag--Ruelle theory do not carry over to the case of indefinite metric, we propose an axiomatic framework for the construction of in- and out- states, such that the LSZ asymptotic condition can be derived from the assumptions. The central mathematical object for this construction is the collection of mixed vacuum expectation values of local, in- and out- fields, called the ``form factor functional'', which is required to fulfill a Hilbert space structure condition. Given a scattering matrix with polynomial transfer functions, we then construct interpolating, local, relativistic quantum fields with indefinite metric, which fit into the given scattering framework.

Remarks on some new models of interacting quantum fields with indefinite metric

We study quantum field models in indefinite metric. We introduce the modified Wightman axioms of Morchio and Strocchi as a general framework of indefinite metric quantum field theory (QFT) and present concrete interacting relativistic models obtained by analytical continuation from some stochastic processes with Euclidean invariance. As a first step towards scattering theory in indefinite metric QFT, we give a proof of the spectral condition on the translation group for the relativistic models.

Convoluted generalized white noise, Schwinger functions and their continuation to Wightman functions

We construct Euclidean random fields $X$ over $\R^d$, by convoluting generalized white noise $F$ with some integral kernels $G$, as $X=G* F$. We study properties of Schwinger (or moment) functions of $X$. In particular, we give a general equivalent formulation of the cluster property in terms of truncated Schwinger functions which we then apply to the above fields. We present a partial negative result on the reflection positivity of convoluted generalized white noise. Furthermore, by representing the kernels $G_\a$ of the pseudo--differential operators $(-\D + m^2_0)^{-α}$ for $α\in (0,1)$ and $m_0>0$ as Laplace transforms we perform the analytic continuation of the (truncated) Schwinger functions of $X=G_α* F$, obtaining the corresponding (truncated) Wightman distributions on Minkowski space which satisfy the relativistic postulates on invariance, spectral property, locality and cluster property. Finally we give some remarks on scattering theory for these models.

Models of local relativistic quantum fields with indefinite metric (in all dimensions)

A condition on a set of truncated Wightman functions is formulated and shown to permit the construction of the Hilbert space structure included in the Morchio--Strocchi modified Wightman axioms. The truncated Wightman functions which are obtained by analytic continuation of the (truncated) Schwinger functions of Euclidean scalar random fields and covariant vector (quaternionic) random fields constructed via convoluted generalized white noise, are then shown to satisfy this condition. As a consequence such random fields provide relativistic models for indefinite metric quantum field theory, in dimension 4 (vector case), respectively in all dimensions (scalar case).

On the formulation of SPDEs leading to local, relativistic QFTs with indefinite metric and nontrivial S-matrix

We discuss Euclidean covariant vector random fields as the solution of stochastic partial differential equations of the form $DA=η$, where $D$ is a covariant (w.r.t. a representation τof $SO(d)$) differential operator with "positive mass spectrum" and $η$ is a non-Gaussian white noise. We obtain explicit formulae for the Fourier transformed truncated Wightman functions, using the analytic continuation of Schwinger functions discussed by Becker, Gielerak and Lugewicz. Based on these formulae we give necessary and sufficient conditions on the mass spectrum of $D$ which imply nontrivial scattering behaviour of relativistic quantum vector fields associated to the given sequence of Wightman functions. We compute the scattering amplitudes explicitly and we find that the masses of particles in the obtained theory are determined by the mass spectrum of $D$.

SPDEs leading to local, relativistic quantum vector fields with indefinite metric and nontrivial S-matrix

In this article we review the construction of local, relativistic quantum vector fields by analytic continuation of Euclidean vector fields obtained as solutions of covariant SPDEs. We revise the formulation of such SPDEs by introducing new Gaussian noise terms -- a procedure which avoids the re-definition of the two point functions needed in previous approaches in order to obtain relativistic fields with nontrivial scattering. We describe the construction of asymptotic states and the scattering of the analytically continued solutions of these new SPDEs and we give precise conditions for nontrivial and well-defined scattering.

Gauge fields, point interactions and few-body problems in one dimension

Point interactions for the second derivative operator in one dimension are studied. Every operator from this family is described by the boundary conditions which include a $ 2 \times 2 $ real matrix with the unit determinant and a phase. The role of the phase parameter leading to unitary equivalent operators is discussed in the present paper. In particular it is shown that the phase parameter is not redundant (contrary to previous studies) if non stationary problems are concerned. It is proven that the phase parameter can be interpreted as the amplitude of a singular gauge field. Considering the few-body problem we extend the range of parameters for which the exact solution can be found using the Bethe Ansatz.

A hierarchical model of quantum anharmonic oscillators: critical point convergence

A hierarchical model of interacting quantum particles performing anharmonic oscillations is studied in the Euclidean approach, in which the local Gibbs states are constructed as measures on infinite dimensional spaces. The local states restricted to the subalgebra generated by fluctuations of displacements of particles are in the center of the study. They are described by means of the corresponding temperature Green (Matsubara) functions. The result of the paper is a theorem, which describes the critical point convergence of such Matsubara functions in the thermodynamic limit.

Generalized reduction criterion for separability of quantum states

A new necessary separability criterion that relates the structures of the total density matrix and its reductions is given. The method used is based on the realignment method [K. Chen and L.A. Wu, Quant. Inf. Comput. 3, 193 (2003)]. The new separability criterion naturally generalizes the reduction separability criterion introduced independently in previous work of [M. Horodecki and P. Horodecki, Phys. Rev. A 59, 4206 (1999)] and [N.J. Cerf, C. Adami and R.M. Gingrich, Phys. Rev. A 60, 898 (1999)]. In special cases, it recovers the previous reduction criterion and the recent generalized partial transposition criterion [K. Chen and L.A. Wu, Phys. Lett. A 306, 14 (2002)]. The criterion involves only simple matrix manipulations and can therefore be easily applied.

Quantum Teleportation: from Pure to Mixed States and Standard to Optimal

Teleportation for pure states, mixed states with standard and optimal protocols are introduced and investigated systematically. An explicit equation governing the teleportation of finite dimensional quantum pure states by a generally given non-local entangled state is presented. For the teleportation of a mixed state with an arbitrary mixed state resource, an explicit expression is obtained for the quantum channel associated with the standard teleportation protocol. The corresponding transmission fidelity is calculated. It is shown that the standard teleportation protocol is not optimal. The optimal quantum teleportation is further studied, its fidelity is given and shown to be related to the fully entangled fraction of the quantum resource, rather than the single fraction as in the standard teleportation protocol.

Point Interactions: PT-Hermiticity and Reality of the Spectrum

General point interactions for the second derivative operator in one dimension are studied. In particular, ${\mathcal P \mathcal T}$-self-adjoint point interactions with the support at the origin and at points $\pm l$ are considered. The spectrum of such non-Hermitian operators is investigated and conditions when the spectrum is pure real are presented. The results are compared with those for standard self-adjoint point interactions.

On Integrability of Many-Body Problems with Point Interactions

A study of the integrability of one-dimensional quantum mechanical many-body systems with general point interactions and boundary conditions describing the interactions which can be independent or dependent on the spin states of the particles is presented. The corresponding Bethe ansatz solutions, bound states and scattering matrices are explicitly given. Hamilton operators corresponding to special spin dependent boundary conditions are discussed.
