Black Hole Shadows Constrain Extended Gravity

The first images of black hole shadows open new possibilities to constrain modern extended gravity theories. We present the method of shadow background calculation for black hole solutions in the form of Taylor series where $g_{11} = - g_{00}^{-1}$. The method is extended to general non-rotating case $g_{11} \neq - g_{00}^{-1}$. The results of the analysis are compared with the predictions of General relativity taking into account the Event Horizon Telescope data. The results for the Horndesky model with the Gauss-Bonnet invariant, loop quantum gravity, Bumblebee model and Gauss-Bonnet gravity are in full agreement with the observations of M87*. In conformal gravity, large values of $m_2$ and $Q_s$ must be excluded. In STEGR $f(Q)$ gravity the observational limits on the parameter $\alpha$ are: $-0.025<\alpha<0.04$. For an alternative generalization of the Bumblebee model with the Schwarzschild approximation: $-0.3 < l < 0.45$. These results demonstrate the maximum one can achieve without taking into account of the rotation of a black hole.

Inflationary solutions in the simplest gravity model with conformal symmetry

We discuss a model of gravity with conformal symmetry appearing in the simplest extension of General Relativity with the Poincar\'e algebra terms. The nonlinear realization of symmetry causes the existence of five scalar fields. Therefore it looks desirable to use them for driving the inflation at the earliest stages of the Universe evolution. It is shown that the evolution of the scale factor doesn't imply accelerated expansion so that there are no inflationary solutions in this model. To drive inflation a more complicated model induced by extension of the Poincare algebra is required.

Internal structure of a Maxwell-Gauss-Bonnet black hole

The influence of the Maxwell field on a static, asymptotically flat and spherically-symmetric Gauss-Bonnet black hole is considered. Numerical computations suggest that if the charge increases beyond a critical value, the inner determinant singularity is replaced by an inner singular horizon.

Kerr-Gauss-Bonnet Black Holes: An Analytical Approximation

Gauss-Bonnet gravity provides one of the most promising frameworks to study curvature corrections to the Einstein action in supersymmetric string theories, while avoiding ghosts and keeping second order field equations. Although Schwarzschild-type solutions for Gauss-Bonnet black holes have been known for long, the Kerr-Gauss-Bonnet metric is missing. In this paper, a five dimensional Gauss-Bonnet approximation is analytically derived for spinning black holes and the related thermodynamical properties are briefly outlined.

The problem of singularities of higher order curvature corrections in four dimensional string gravity

The influence of higher order (stringly inspired) curvature corrections to the classical General Relativity spherically symmetric solution is studied. In string gravity these curvature corrections have a special form and can provide a singular contribution to the field equations because they generate higher derivatives of metric functions multiplied by a small parameter. Analytically and numerically it is shown that sometimes in 4D string gravity the Schwarzschild solution is not recovered when the string coupling constant vanishes and limited number of higher order curvature corrections is considered.

Black Hole Relics in String Gravity: Last Stages of Hawking Evaporation

One of the most intriguing problem of modern physics is the question of the endpoint of black hole evaporation. Based on Einstein-dilaton-Gauss-Bonnet four dimensional string gravity model we show that black holes do not disappear and that the end of the evaporation process leaves some relic. The possibility of experimental detection of the remnant black holes is investigated. If they really exist, such objects could be a considerable part of the non baryonic dark matter in our Universe.

The Nature of Singularity in Bianchi I Cosmological String Gravity Model with Second Order Curvature Corrections

We investigate Bianchi I cosmological model in the theory of a dilatonM field coupled to gravity through a Gauss-Bonnet term. Two type ofM cosmological singularity are distinguished. The former is analogous toM the Einstein gravity singularity, the latter (which does not appear inM classical General Relativity) occurs when the main determinant of theM system of field equations vanishes. An analogy between the latterM cosmological singularity and the singularity inside a black hole withM a dilatonic hair is discussed. Initial conditions, leading to theseM two types of cosmological singularity are found via numericalM integration of the equation of motion.
