Imaginary part of the zero angle light-by-light scattering tensor

We calculate the bilinear combination of Dirac tensors describing the creation of a pair of charged particle (pi-meson or leptons) by virtual photons integrated on the final particle phase volume. It can be interpreted as an s channel discontinuity of the zero angle light-by-light scattering tensor with both photons off mass shell. The expression of light-by-light scattering tensor is represented in the form where the gauge invariance and the Bose symmetry are explicitly shown. Some applications and the checks are discussed.

High order radiative corrections for unpolarized electron proton elastic scattering at low $Q^2$

We investigate the effect of high order radiative corrections in unpolarized electron proton elastic scattering and compare with the calculations at lowest order, which are usually applied to experimental data. We show that higher order terms play a role, starting from values of the momentum transfer squared, $Q^2$, larger than the electron mass. Particular attention is devoted to the $ε$ dependence of radiative corrections.

Radiative corrections to the cross section of $e^-+p\to ν+n$ and the crossed processes

Born cross section and the radiative corrections to its lowest order are considered in the frame work of QED with structureless nucleons including the emission of virtual and real photons. Result is generalized to take into account radiative corrections in higher orders of perturbation theory in the leading and next-to leading logarithmic approximation. Crossing processes are considered in the leading approximation.

$2γ$ and $3γ$ annihilation as calibration processes for high energy $e^+ e^-$ colliders

Born differential cross sections and the lowest-order radiative correction to them are obtained in the kinematics of large-angle final photons emission in high-energy electron-positron annihilation processes. Taking into account possible emission of real soft and hard photons in collinear kinematics we show the validity of the Drell-Yan form of differential cross section with the nonsinglet structure functions of initial leptons. The leading and next-to leading contribution to the cross sections is obtained. The relevant numerical estimations are presented.

Testing the RRPP vertex of effective Regge action

In frames of effective Regge action the vertices describing conversion of two reggeized gluons to one two and three ordinary gluons was constructed. The self-consistency: Bose symmetry and gauge invariance properties checks was shown to be fulfilled. The simplest one with creation of a single gluon was intensively verified in programs of experimental and theoretical treatment since it determine the kernel of of the known BFKL equation. Here we discuss the possibility to check the vertex with creation of two real gluons, which can reveal itself in process of scalar mesons production in high energy peripheral nucleons collisions. We show that the mechanisms which include emission of two gluons in the same effective vertex contribution dominate compared with one with the creation of two separate gluons. Numerical estimations of cross section of pair of charged pions production for LHC facility give the value or order $10 mb$. As well we estimate the excess of production of positively charged muons (as a decay of pions) created by cosmic ray proton collisions with the atmosphere gas nuclei to be in a reasonable agreement with modern data.

Sum rule for the double virtual Compton scattering

The two photon exchange amplitude is investigated in frame of analytic properties of the virtual Compton scattering amplitude as a function of the invariant mass squared of the intermediate hadronic state. A sum rule is built, based on arguments from analyticity. It relates the differential cross section of elastic electron-proton scattering including form factors, and the cross section of inelastic scattering channel, with a contribution of nucleon anti-nucleon pair production arising from the Fermi statistics. The last term is calculated in frame of a simple model of nucleon-pion interaction.

Charge asymmetry for electron (positron)-proton elastic scattering at large angle

Charge asymmetry in electron (positron) scattering arises from the interference of the Born amplitude and the box-type amplitude corresponding to two virtual photons exchange. It can be extracted from electron proton and positron proton scattering experiments, in the same kinematical conditions. Considering the virtual photon Compton scattering tensor, which contributes to the box-type amplitude, we separate proton and inelastic contributions in the intermediate state and parametrize the proton form-factors as the sum of a pure QED term and a strong interaction term. Arguments based on analyticity are given in favor of cancellation of contributions from proton strong interaction form factors and of inelastic intermediate states in the box type amplitudes. In frame of this model, with a realistic expression for nucleon form-factors, numerical estimations are given for moderately high energies.

Search for two photon exchange from $e^+ +e^-\to p+\bar p +γ$ data

We look for asymmetries in the angular distributions of events from recent data on $e^+ +e^-\to p +\bar p +γ$ from BABAR collaboration. From first principles, as the C-invariance of the electromagnetic interaction and the crossing symmetry, the presence of two-photon exchange would create a forward backward asymmetry in the data. The analysis of the available data shows no asymmetry, within an error of 2%. This result is consistent with a structureless model for the proton, based on a calculation of $e^+ +e^-\to μ^+ + μ^- +γ$ with a proper replacement of the muon mass. As no systematic deviations are seen, we can conclude that these data do not give any hint of the presence of the two photon contribution, in all the considered kinematical range.

Double logarithmical corrections to beam asymmetry in polarized electron-proton scattering

The up-down asymmetry in transversally polarized electron proton scattering is induced by the interference between one and two photon exchange amplitudes. Inelastic intermediate hadronic states (different from one-proton state) of the two photon exchange amplitude give rise to contributions containing the square of "large logarithm" (logarithm of the ratio of the transferred momentum to the electron mass). We investigate the presence of such contributions in higher orders of perturbation theory. The relation with the case of zero transfer momentum is explicitly given. The mechanism of cancellation of infrared singularities is discussed.

Muon multiplicity at high energy proton-nuclei collisions

Estimation of multiplicity of muons and pions production at high energy proton-nuclei collisions is given. Both QED and QCD contributions are considered for peripheral kinematics of muon pair and $σ$-meson production, keeping in mind it's final conversion to muons. An attempt to explain the excess of positive charged muons compared to negative one in cosmic muon showers is given. We derive the dependence of cross-section of $n$ pairs as a function of $n$ at large n as $d^n(n!n^2)^{-1}$.

Bremsstrahlung photon polarization for $ee^\pm\to (eγ)e^\pm$, and $ep\to (eγ)p$ high energy collisions

The polarization of bremsstrahlung photon in the processes $ee^\pm\to (eγ)e^\pm$, and $ep\to (eγ)p$ is calculated for peripheral kinematics, in the high energy limit where the cross section does not decrease with the incident energy. When the initial electron is unpolarized(longitudinally polarized) the final photon can be linearly (circularly) polarized. The Stokes parameters of the photon polarization are calculated as a function of the kinematical variables of process: the energy of recoil particle, the energy fraction of scattered electron, and the polar and azimuthal angles of photon. Numerical results are given in form of tables, for typical values of the relevant kinematic variables.

QED processes in peripheral kinematics at polarized photon-photon and photon-electron colliders

The calibration QED process cross sections for experiments on planned electron-photon and photon-photon colliders for detecting the small angles scattered particles are calculated. These processes describe the creation of two jets moving sufficiently close to the beam axis directions. The jets containing two and three particles including charged leptons, photons and pseudoscalar mesons are considered explicitly. Considering the pair production subprocesses we take into account both bremsstrahlung and double photon mechanisms. The obtained results are suitable for further numerical calculations.

Comments to the calculation of transverse beam spin asymmetry for electron proton elastic scattering

The transverse beam spin induced asymmetry is calculated for the scattering of transversally polarized electrons on a proton target within a realistic model. Such asymmetry is due to the interference between the Born amplitude and the imaginary part of two photon exchange amplitude. In particular, the contribution of non-excited hadron state (elastic) to the two photon amplitude is calculated. The elastic contribution requires infrared divergences regularization and can be expressed in terms of numerical integrals of the target form factor. The inelastic channel corresponding to the one pion hadronic state contribution is enhanced by squared logarithmic terms. We show that the ratio of elastic over inelastic channel is of the order of 0.3 and cannot be ignored. Enhancement effects due to the decreasing of form factors bring the transverse beam asymmetry to values as large as $10^{-4}$ for particular kinematical conditions.

Form Factors of Dimesoatoms for Discrete-Continuum Transitions

An approach for calculation of transition form factors of hydrogen-like elementary atoms (EA) is proposed. A general formula for bound-continuous transition form factors of EA is derived. It is shown that these form factors can be represented in the form of finite sum of terms with simple analytical structure and may be numerically evaluated with arbitrary degree of accuracy. As an application of the presented form factors, the calculation of the spectra of products from EA ionization is considered.

Process e^+ e^- \to 3π(γ) with final state radiative corrections

We consider the process of annihilation of e^+ e^- to three pion final state for the case of moderately high energies. The final state emission of virtual and real photon is considered explicitly. The calculations are performed in frames of QED with point-like mesons and pion part of chiral perturbation theory. Some numerical estimates are given.
