Representations of Extended Carroll Group

Carroll's group is presented as a group of transformations in a 5-dimensional space ($\mathcal{C}$) obtained by embedding the Euclidean space into a (4; 1)-de Sitter space. Three of the five dimensions of $\mathcal{C}$ are related to $\mathcal{R}^3$, and the other two to mass and time. A covariant formulation of Caroll's group, analogous as introduced by Takahashi to Galilei's group, is deduced. Unit representations are studied.

On Gravitational Stefan-Boltzmann Law and Casimir Effect in FRW Universe

Both Stefan-Boltzmann law and the Casimir effect, in a universe described by the FRW metric with zero curvature, are calculated. These effects are described by Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD). The gravitational energy-momentum tensor is defined in the context of Teleparallel Equivalent to General Relativity (TEGR). Each of the two effects gives a consistent prediction with what is observed on a cosmological scale. One of the effect establishes a minimum range for the deceleration parameter. While another leads to the conclusion that a possible cosmological constant has a very small order of magnitude.

On the Temperature of Gravitation in the de Sitter Space-Time

The temperature associated with gravitation as presented in the Unruh effect and Hawking temperature serves to link different areas of physics, such as gravity, statistical mechanics, and quantum physics. In this paper, teleparallel gravity is considered to study temperature effects on the de Sitter space-time. The effects of temperature are introduced using the Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism. The gravitational Stefan-Boltzmann law is obtained. Then the temperature of gravitation in the de Sitter space-time is calculated. Here an Unruh-type effect is discussed. This effect relates the temperature and the acceleration of a particle in the de Sitter space-time. The gravitational Casimir effect is calculated. The result shows that there is a transition between an attractive and a repulsive Casimir effect.

Size-effect at finite temperature in a quark-antiquark effective model in phase space

A quark-antiquark effective model is studied in a toroidal topology at finite temperature. The model is described by a Schrödinger equation with linear potential which is embedded in a torus. The following aspects are analysed: (i) the nonclassicality structure using the Wigner function formalism; (ii) finite temperature and size-effects are studied by a generalization of Thermofield Dynamics written in phase space; (iii) in order to include the spin of the quark, Pauli-like Schrödinger equation is used; (iv) analysis of the size-effect is considered to observe the fluctuation in the ground state. The size effect goes to zero at zero, finite and high temperatures. The results emphasize that the spin is a central aspect for this quark-antiquark effective model.

Perturbations of the Gravitational Energy in the TEGR: Quasinormal Modes of the Schwarzschild Black Hole

We calculate the gravitational energy spectrum of the perturbations of a Schwarzschild black hole described by quasinormal modes, in the framework of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR). We obtain a general formula for the gravitational energy enclosed by a large surface of constant radius $r$, in the region $m\,<<\,r\,<<\infty$, where $m$ is the mass of the black hole. Considering the usual asymptotic expression for the perturbed metric components, we arrive at finite values for the energy spectrum. The perturbed energy depends on the two integers $n$ and $l$ that describe the quasinormal modes. In this sense, the energy perturbations are discretised. We also obtain a simple expression for the decrease of the flux of gravitational radiation of the perturbations.

Non-linear Plane Gravitational Waves as Space-time Defects

We consider non-linear plane gravitational waves as propagating space-time defects, and construct the Burgers vector of the waves. In the context of classical continuum systems, the Burgers vector is a measure of the deformation of the medium, and at a microscopic (atomic) scale, it is a naturally quantized object. One purpose of the present article is ultimately to probe an alternative way on how to quantize plane gravitational waves.

A teleparallel type theory for massless spin 2 fields

We present the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations of a theory for spin 2 fields. The construction is developed in flat space-time. The construction in curved space-time is conceptually straightforward, although it is not unique. The theory is based on a symmetric tensor $S_{μν}$, contains two degrees of freedom of radiation, is motivated by the teleparallel formulation of general relativity, and displays a certain resemblance with Maxwell's theory for the electromagnetic field.

Spin-1/2 particles in Phase space: Casimir effect and Stefan-Boltzmann law at finite temperature

The Dirac field, spin 1/2 particles, is investigated in phase space. The Dirac propagator is defined. The Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism is used to introduce finite temperature. The energy-momentum tensor is calculated at finite temperature. The Stefan-Boltzmann law is established and the Casimir effect is calculated for the Dirac field in phase space at zero and finite temperature. A comparative analysis with these results in standard quantum mechanics space is realized.

Casimir effect and Stefan-Boltzmann law at finite temperature in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe

A spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker background with a general scale factor is considered. In this space-time, the energy-momentum tensor of the scalar field with a general curvature coupling parameter is obtained. Using the Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism the Stefan-Boltzmann law and the Casimir effect at finite temperature are calculated. The Casimir effect at zero temperature is also considered. The expansion of the universe changes these effects. A discussion of these modifications is presented.

On the Quantization of Burgers Vector and Gravitational Energy in the Space-Time of a Conical Defect

A conical topological defect is the result of translational and/or rotational deformations of spacetime, in particular the Burgers vector describes the translational deformation. Such a configuration represents a discontinuity, that cannot be removed by coordinate transformations, and is related to the spacetime torsion. Using the Teleparallel Equivalent of General Relativity (TERG), a gravitational theory that is dynamically equivalent to General Relativity (GR), we investigate the consequences of assuming a discrete Burgers vector on the geodesic motion of particles around a static conical defect. The result is a helical geodesic motion of a test particle around the defect, with a discrete step that depends on the magnitude of the dislocation.

Difficulties of Teleparallel Theories of Gravity with Local Lorentz Symmetry

A brief discussion is made about the relevance of surface terms in the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formulations of theories of gravity. These surface terms play an important role in the variation of the action integral and in the definition of field quantities such as the gravitational energy-momentum. Then we point out several inconsistencies of a recently proposed formulation of teleparallel theories of gravity with local Lorentz symmetry.

On Regular Black Holes at Finite Temperature

The Thermo Field Dynamics (TFD) formalism is used to investigate the regular black holes at finite temperature. Using the Teleparalelism Equivalent to General Relativity (TEGR) the gravitational Stefan-Boltzmann law and the gravitational Casimir effect at zero and finite temperature are calculated. In addition, the first law of thermodynamics is considered. Then the gravitational entropy and the temperature of the event horizon of a class of regular black holes are determined.

Analytical Solution for Gross-Pitaevskii Equation in Phase Space and Wigner Function

In this work we study symplectic unitary representations for the Galilei group. As a consequence a Non-Linear Schrödinger equation is derived in phase space. The formalism is based on the non-commutative structure of the star-product, and using the group theory approach as a guide a physically consistent theory is constructed in phase space. The state is described by a quasi-probability amplitude that is in association with the Wigner function. With these results, we solve the Gross-Pitaevskii equation in phase space and obtained the Wigner function for the system considered.

Zeeman Effect in Phase Space

The two-dimensional hydrogen atom in an external magnetic field is considered in the context of phase space. Using solution of the Schrödinger equation in phase space the Wigner function related to the Zeeman effect is calculated. For this purpose, the Bohlin mapping is used to transform the Coulomb potential into a harmonic oscillator problem. Then it is possible to solve the Schrödinger equation easier by using the perturbation theory. The negativity parameter for this system is realised.

Energy-momentum and angular-momentum of a gyratonic pp-waves spacetime

Gyratonic plane fronted gravitational waves are exact solutions of Einstein's field equations, which correspond to gravitational waves that carry momentum and angular-momentum. Using the definitions of the Hamiltonian formulation of the Teleparallel Equivalent of General Relativity, we explicitly evaluate the general expressions of the energy-momentum and angular-momentum of these space-times. In order to better understand the additional properties of these gravitational waves, we consider the motion of particles in this space-time and obtain an interesting relation between the angular-momentum of the particles and that of the gravitational waves.

Non-abelian gauge symmetry for fields in phase space: a realization of the Seiberg-Witten non-abelian gauge theory

The Seiberg-Witten formalism has been realized as an electrodynamics in phase space (associated to the Dirac equation written in phase space) and this fact is explored here with non-abelian gauge group. First, a physically heuristic presentation of the Seiberg-Witten approach is carried out for non-abelian gauge in order to guide the calculation procedures. These results are realized by starting with the Lagrangian density for the free Dirac field in phase space. Then a field strength is derived, where the non-abelian gauge group is the SU(2), corresponding to an isospin (non-abelian) field theory in phase space. An application to nucleon is then discussed.

Gravitons are described by the propagator in Teleparallel gravity in nearly flat space-time. Finite temperature is introduced by using Thermo Field Dynamics formalism. The Gravitational Casimir effect and Stefan-Boltzmann law are calculated as a function of temperature. Then an equation of state for gravitons is determined.
