New charged shear-free relativistic models with heat flux

We study shear-free spherically symmetric relativistic gravitating fluids with heat flow and electric charge. The solution to the Einstein-Maxwell system is governed by the generalised pressure isotropy condition which contains a contribution from the electric field. This condition is a highly nonlinear partial differential equation. We analyse this master equation using Lie's group theoretic approach. The Lie symmetry generators that leave the equation invariant are found. The first generator is independent of the electromagnetic field. The second generator depends critically on the form of the charge, which is determined explicitly in general. We provide exact solutions to the gravitational potentials using the symmetries admitted by the equation. Our new exact solutions contain earlier results without charge. We show that other charged solutions, related to the Lie symmetries, may be generated using the algorithm of Deng. This leads to new classes of charged Deng models which are generalisations of conformally flat metrics.

Higher dimensional charged shear-free relativistic models with heat flux

We analyse shear-free spherically symmetric relativistic models of gravitating fluids with heat flow and electric charge defined on higher dimensional manifolds. The solution to the Einstein-Maxwell system is governed by the pressure isotropy condition which depends on the spacetime dimension. We study this highly nonlinear partial differential equation using Lie's group theoretic approach. The Lie symmetry generators that leave the equation invariant are determined. We provide exact solutions to the gravitational potentials using the first symmetry admitted by the equation. Our new exact solutions contain the earlier results for the four-dimensional case. Using the other Lie generators, we are able to provide solutions to the gravitational potentials or reduce the order of the master equation to a first order nonlinear differential equation. We derive the temperature transport equation in higher dimensions and find expressions for the causal and Eckart temperatures showing their explicit dependance on the dimension. We analyse a particular solution, obtained via group techniques, to show its physical applicability.

An Emergent Universe with Dark Sector Fields in a Chiral Cosmological Model

We consider the emergent universe scenario supported by a chiral cosmological model with two interacting dark sector fields: phantom and canonical. We investigate the general properties of the evolution of the kinetic and potential energies as well as the development of the equation of state with time. We present three models based on asymptotic solutions and investigate the phantom part of the potential and chiral metric components. The exact solution corresponding to a global emergent universe scenario, starting from the infinite past and evolving to the infinite future, has been obtained for the first time for a chiral cosmological model. The behavior of the chiral metric components responsible for the kinetic interaction between the phantom and canonical scalar fields has been analyzed as well.

Exact Global Phantonical Solutions in the Emergent Universe

We present new classes of exact solutions for an Emergent Universe supported by phantom and canonical scalar fields in the framework of a two-component chiral cosmological model. We outline in detail the method of deriving exact solutions, discuss the potential and kinetic interaction for the model and calculate key cosmological parameters. We suggest that this this model be called a {\it phantonical Emergent Universe} because of the necessity to have phantom and canonical chiral fields. The solutions obtained are valid for all time.

The role of shear in dissipative gravitational collapse

In this paper we investigate the physics of a radiating star undergoing dissipative collapse in the form of a radial heat flux. Our treatment clearly demonstrates how the presence of shear affects the collapse process; we are in a position to contrast the physical features of the collapsing sphere in the presence of shear with the shear-free case. By employing a causal heat transport equation of the Maxwell-Cattaneo form we show that the shear leads to an enhancement of the core temperature thus emphasizing that relaxational effects cannot be ignored when the star leaves hydrostatic equilibrium.

Relativistic shear-free fluids with symmetry

We study the complete conformal geometry of shear-free spacetimes with spherical symmetry and do not specify the form of the matter content. The general conformal Killing symmetry is solved and we can explicitly exhibit the vector. The existence of a conformal symmetry places restrictions on the model. The conditions on the gravitational potentials are expressed as a system of integrability conditions. Timelike sectors and inheriting conformal symmetry vectors, which map fluid flow lines conformally onto fluid flow lines, are generated and the integrability conditions are shown to be satisfied. As an example, a spacetime, which is expanding and accelerating, is identified which contains a spherically symmetric conformal symmetry.

Compact models with regular charge distributions

We model a compact relativistic body with anisotropic pressures in the presence of an electric field. The equation of state is barotropic with a linear relationship between the radial pressure and the energy density. Simple exact models of the Einstein-Maxwell equations are generated. A graphical analysis indicates that the matter and electromagnetic variables are well behaved. In particular the proper charge density is regular for certain parameter values at the stellar centre unlike earlier anisotropic models in the presence of charge. We show that the electric field affects the mass of stellar objects and the observed mass for a particular binary pulsar is regained. Our models contain previous results of anisotropic charged matter with a linear equation of state for special parameter values.

Some charged polytropic models

The Einstein-Maxwell equations with anisotropic pressures and electromagnetic field are studied with a polytropic equation of state. New exact solutions to the field equations are generated in terms of elementary functions. Special cases of the uncharged solutions of Feroze and Siddiqui (Gen Relativ Gravit 43: 1025, 2011) and Maharaj and Mafa Takisa (Gen Relativ Gravit 44: 1419, 2012) are recovered. We also obtain exact solutions for a neutral anisotropic gravitating body for a polytrope from our general treatment. Graphical plots indicate that the energy density, tangential pressure and anisotropy profiles are consistent with earlier treatments which suggest relevance in describing relativistic compact stars.

First integrals for charged perfect fluid distributions

We study the evolution of shear-free spherically symmetric charged fluids in general relativity. We find a new parametric class of solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell system of field equations. Our charged results are a generalisation of earlier treatments for neutral relativistic fluids. We regain the first integrals found previously for uncharged matter as a special case. In addition an explicit first integral is found which is necessarily charged.

Applications of Lie Symmetries to Higher Dimensional Gravitating Fluid

We consider a radiating shear-free spherically symmetric metric in higher dimensions. Several new solutions to the Einstein's equations are found systematically using the method of Lie analysis of differential equations. Using the five Lie point symmetries of the fundamental field equation, we obtain either an implicit solution or we can reduce the governing equations to a Riccati equation. We show that known solutions of the Einstein equations can produce infinite families of new solutions. Earlier results in four dimensions are shown to be special cases of our generalised results.

Radiating stars with generalised Vaidya atmospheres

We model the gravitational behaviour of a radiating star when the exterior geometry is the generalised Vaidya spacetime. The interior matter distribution is shear-free and undergoing radial heat flow. The exterior energy momentum tensor is a superposition of a null fluid and a string fluid. An analysis of the junction conditions at the stellar surface shows that the pressure at the boundary depends on the interior heat flux and the exterior string density. The results for a relativistic radiating star undergoing nonadiabatic collapse are obtained as a special case. For a particular model we demonstrate that the radiating fluid sphere collapses without the appearance of the horizon at the boundary.

Regular models with quadratic equation of state

We provide new exact solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell system of equations which are physically reasonable. The spacetime is static and spherically symmetric with a charged matter distribution. We utilise an equation of state which is quadratic relating the radial pressure to the energy density. Earlier models, with linear and quadratic equations of state, are shown to be contained in our general class of solutions. The new solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell are found in terms of elementary functions. A physical analysis of the matter and electromagnetic variables indicates that the model is well behaved and regular. In particular there is no singularity in the proper charge density at the stellar centre unlike earlier anisotropic models in the presence of the electromagnetic field.

A fifth order differential equation for charged perfect fluids

We investigate the master nonlinear partial differential equation that governs the evolution of shear-free spherically symmetric charged fluids. We use an approach which has not been considered previously for the underlying equation in shear-free spherically symmetric spacetimes. We derive a fifth order purely differential equation that must be satisfied for the underlying equation to admit a Lie point symmetry. We then perform a comprehensive analysis of this equation utilising the Lie symmetry analysis and direct integration. This enables us to reduce the fifth order equation to quadratures. Earlier results are shown to be contained in our general treatment.

Shearing radiative collapse with expansion and acceleration

We investigate the behaviour of a relativistic spherically symmetric radiative star with an accelerating, expanding and shearing interior matter distribution in the presence of anisotropic pressures. The junction condition can be written in standard form in three cases: linear, Bernoulli and Riccati equations. We can integrate the boundary condition in each case and three classes of new solutions are generated. For particular choices of the metric we investigate the physical properties and consider the limiting behaviour for large values of time. The causal temperature can also be found explicitly.

New shear-free relativistic models with heat flow

We study shear-free spherically symmetric relativistic models with heat flow. Our analysis is based on Lie's theory of extended groups applied to the governing field equations. In particular, we generate a five-parameter family of transformations which enables us to map existing solutions to new solutions. All known solutions of Einstein equations with heat flow can therefore produce infinite families of new solutions. In addition, we provide two new classes of solutions utilising the Lie infinitesimal generators. These solutions generate an infinite class of solutions given any one of the two unknown metric functions.

Noether and Lie symmetries for charged perfect fluids

We study the underlying nonlinear partial differential equation that governs the behaviour of spherically symmetric charged fluids in general relativity. We investigate the conditions for the equation to admit a first integral or be reduced to quadratures using symmetry methods for differential equations. A general Noether first integral is found. We also undertake a comprehensive group analysis of the underlying equation using Lie point symmetries. The existence of a Lie symmetry is subject to solving an integro-differential equation in general; we investigate the conditions under which it can be reduced to quadratures. Earlier results for uncharged fluids and particular first integrals for charged matter are regained as special cases of our treatment.

A class of charged relativistic spheres

We find a new class of exact solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell equations which can be used to model the interior of charged relativistic objects. These solutions can be written in terms of special functions in general; for particular parameter values it is possible to find solutions in terms of elementary functions. Our results contain models found previously for uncharged neutron stars and charged isotropic spheres.

Conformal symmetries of spherical spacetimes

We investigate the conformal geometry of spherically symmetric spacetimes in general without specifying the form of the matter distribution. The general conformal Killing symmetry is obtained subject to a number of integrability conditions. Previous results relating to static spacetimes are shown to be a special case of our solution. The general inheriting conformal symmetry vector, which maps fluid flow lines conformally onto fluid flow lines, is generated and the integrability conditions are shown to be satisfied. We show that there exists a hypersurface orthogonal conformal Killing vector in an exact solution of Einstein's equations for a relativistic fluid which is expanding, accelerating and shearing.
