Topological Black Holes in Gauss-Bonnet Gravity with conformally invariant Maxwell source

In this paper, we present a class of rotating solutions in Gauss--Bonnet gravity in the presence of cosmological constant and conformally invariant Maxwell field and study the effects of the nonlinearity of the Maxwell source on the properties of the spacetimes. These solutions may be interpret as black brane solutions with inner and outer event horizons provide that the mass parameter $m$ is greater than an extremal value $m_{ext}$, an extreme black brane if $m=m_{ext}$ and a naked singularity otherwise. We investigate the conserved and thermodynamics quantities for asymptotically flat and asymptotically $AdS$ with flat horizon. We also show that the conserved and thermodynamic quantities of these solutions satisfy the first law of thermodynamics.

Slowly Rotating Black Holes in Einstein-Generalized Maxwell Gravity

In this paper, with considering the nonlinear electromagnetic field coupled to Einstein gravity, we obtain the higher dimensional slowly rotating charged black hole solutions. By use of the fact that the temperature of the extreme black hole is zero, we find that these solutions may be interpreted as black hole solutions with inner (Cauchy) and outer (event) horizons provide that the mass parameter $m$ is greater than an extremal value $m_{ext}$, an extreme black hole if $m=m_{ext}$ and a naked singularity otherwise. Also, we find that the asymptotic behavior of the spacetime is not anti deSitter for the special values of the nonlinearity parameter. Then, we compute the ADM mass, electrical charge, temperature, entropy, angular momentum and gyromagnetic ratio of the solutions. Calculations of the electromagnetic field, electrical charge, entropy and temperature showed that they are sensitive with respect to the changing of nonlinearity parameter.

Charged BTZ-like Black Holes in Higher Dimensions

Motivated by many worthwhile paper about (2 + 1)-dimensional BTZ black holes, we generalize them to to (n + 1)-dimensional solutions, so called BTZ-like solutions. We show that the electric field of BTZ-like solutions is the same as (2 + 1)-dimensional BTZ black holes, and also their lapse functions are approximately the same, too. By these similarities, it is also interesting to investigate the geometric and thermodynamics properties of the BTZ-like solutions. We find that, depending on the metric parameters, the BTZ-like solutions may be interpreted as black hole solutions with inner (Cauchy) and outer (event) horizons, an extreme black hole or naked singularity. Then, we calculate thermodynamics quantities and conserved quantities, and show that they satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. Finally, we perform a stability analysis in the canonical ensemble and show that the BTZ-like solutions are stable in the whole phase space.

Ricci flat rotating black branes with a conformally invariant Maxwell source

We consider Einstein gravity coupled to an $U(1)$ gauge field for which the density is given by a power of the Maxwell Lagrangian. In $d$-dimensions the action of Maxwell field is shown to enjoy the conformal invariance if the power is chosen as $d/4$. We present a class of charge rotating solutions in Einstein-conformally invariant Maxwell gravity in the presence of a cosmological constant. These solutions may be interpreted as black brane solutions with inner and outer event horizons or an extreme black brane depending on the value of the mass parameter. Since we are considering power of the Maxwell density, the black brane solutions exist only for dimensions which are multiples of four. We compute conserved and thermodynamics quantities of the black brane solutions and show that the expression of the electric field does not depend on the dimension. Also, we obtain a Smarr-type formula and show that these conserved and thermodynamic quantities of black branes satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. Finally, we study the phase behavior of the rotating black branes and show that there is no Hawking--Page phase transition in spite of conformally invariant Maxwell field.

Magnetic String Coupled to Nonlinear Electromagnetic Field

We introduce a class of rotating magnetically charged string solutions of the Einstein gravity with a nonlinear electrodynamics source in four dimensions. The present solutions has no curvature singularity and no horizons but has a conic singularity and yields a spacetime with a longitudinal magnetic field. Also, we investigate the effects of nonlinearity on the properties of the solutions and find that for the special range of the nonlinear parameter, the solutions are not asymptotic AdS. We show that when the rotation parameter is non zero, the spinning string has a net electric charge that is proportional to the magnitude of the rotation parameter. Finally, we use the counterterm method inspired by AdS/CFT correspondence and calculate the conserved quantities of the solutions.

Thermodynamic instability of charged dilaton black holes in AdS spaces

We study thermodynamic instability of a class of $(n+1)$-dimensional charged dilaton black holes in the background of anti-de Sitter universe. We calculate the quasilocal mass of the AdS dilaton black hole through the use of the subtraction method of Brown and York. We find a Smarr-type formula and perform a stability analysis in the canonical ensemble and disclose the effect of the dilaton field on the thermal stability of the solutions. Our study shows that the solutions are thermally stable for small $α$, while for large $α$ the system has an unstable phase, where $α$ is a coupling constant between the dilaton and matter field.

Charged rotating dilaton black branes in AdS universe

We present the metric for the $(n+1)$-dimensional charged rotating dilaton black branes with cylindrical or toroidal horizons in the background of anti-de Sitter spacetime. We find the suitable counterterm which removes the divergences of the action in the presence of the dilaton potential in all higher dimensions. We plot the Penrose diagrams of the spacetime and reveal that the spacetime geometry crucially modifies in the presence of the dilaton field. The conserved and thermodynamic quantities of the black branes are also computed.

The relation between F(R) gravity and Einstein-conformally invariant Maxwell source

In this paper, we consider the special case of $F(R)$ gravity, in which $F(R)= R^{N}$ and obtain its topological black hole solutions in higher dimensions. We show that, the same as higher dimensional charged black hole, these solutions may be interpreted as black hole solutions with two event horizons, extreme black hole and naked singularity provided the parameters of the solutions are chosen suitably. But, the presented black hole is different from the standard higher-dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom solutions. Next, we focus on the conformally invariant Maxwell field coupled to Einstein gravity and discuss about its black hole solutions. Comparing these two class of solutions, shows that there is a correspondence between the Einstein-conformally invariant Maxwell solutions and the solutions of $F(R)$ gravity without matter field in arbitrary dimensions.

Wormhole Solutions in Gauss-Bonnet-Born-Infeld Gravity

A new class of solutions which yields an $(n+1)$-dimensional spacetime with a longitudinal nonlinear magnetic field is introduced. These spacetimes have no curvature singularity and no horizon, and the magnetic field is non singular in the whole spacetime. They may be interpreted as traversable wormholes which could be supported by matter not violating the weak energy conditions. We generalize this class of solutions to the case of rotating solutions and show that the rotating wormhole solutions have a net electric charge which is proportional to the magnitude of the rotation parameter, while the static wormhole has no net electric charge. Finally, we use the counterterm method and compute the conserved quantities of these spacetimes.

Magnetic Branes in Third Order Lovelock-Born-Infeld Gravity

Considering both the nonlinear invariant terms constructed by the electromagnetic field and the Riemann tensor in gravity action, we obtain a new class of $(n+1)$-dimensional magnetic brane solutions in third order Lovelock-Born-Infeld gravity. This class of solutions yields a spacetime with a longitudinal nonlinear magnetic field generated by a static source. These solutions have no curvature singularity and no horizons but have a conic geometry with a deficit angle $δ$. We find that, as the Born-Infeld parameter decreases, which is a measure of the increase of the nonlinearity of the electromagnetic field, the deficit angle increases. We generalize this class of solutions to the case of spinning magnetic solutions and find that, when one or more rotation parameters are nonzero, the brane has a net electric charge which is proportional to the magnitude of the rotation parameters. Finally, we use the counterterm method in third order Lovelock gravity and compute the conserved quantities of these spacetimes. We found that the conserved quantities do not depend on the Born-Infeld parameter, which is evident from the fact that the effects of the nonlinearity of the electromagnetic fields on the boundary at infinity are wiped away. We also find that the properties of our solution, such as deficit angle, are independent of Lovelock coefficients.

Rotating Black Branes in Brans-Dicke-Born-Infeld Theory

In this paper, we present a new class of charged rotating black brane solutions in the higher dimensional Brans-Dicke-Born-Infeld theory and investigate their properties. Solving the field equations directly is a non-trivial task because they include the second derivatives of the scalar field. We remove this difficulty through a conformal transformation. Also, we find that the suitable Lagrangian of Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton gravity is not the same as presented in \cite{DHSR}. We show that the given solutions can present black brane, with inner and outer event horizons, an extreme black brane or a naked singularity provided the parameters of the solutions are chosen suitably. These black brane solutions are neither asymptotically flat nor (anti)-de Sitter. Then we calculate finite Euclidean action, the conserved and thermodynamic quantities through the use of counterterm method. Finally, we argue that these quantities satisfy the first law of thermodynamics, and the entropy does not follow the area law.

Taub-NUT Black Holes in Third order Lovelock Gravity

We consider the existence of Taub-NUT solutions in third order Lovelock gravity with cosmological constant, and obtain the general form of these solutions in eight dimensions. We find that, as in the case of Gauss-Bonnet gravity and in contrast with the Taub-NUT solutions of Einstein gravity, the metric function depends on the specific form of the base factors on which one constructs the circle fibration. Thus, one may say that the independence of the NUT solutions on the geometry of the base space is not a robust feature of all generally covariant theories of gravity and is peculiar to Einstein gravity. We find that when Einstein gravity admits non-extremal NUT solutions with no curvature singularity at $r=N$, then there exists a non-extremal NUT solution in third order Lovelock gravity. In 8-dimensional spacetime, this happens when the metric of the base space is chosen to be $\Bbb{CP}^{3}$. Indeed, third order Lovelock gravity does not admit non-extreme NUT solutions with any other base space. This is another property which is peculiar to Einstein gravity. We also find that the third order Lovelock gravity admits extremal NUT solution when the base space is $T^{2}\times T^{2}\times T^{2}$ or $S^{2}\times T^{2}\times T^{2}$. We have extended these observations to two conjectures about the existence of NUT solutions in Lovelock gravity in any even-dimensional spacetime.

Topological Black Holes in Lovelock-Born-Infeld Gravity

In this paper, we present topological black holes of third order Lovelock gravity in the presence of cosmological constant and nonlinear electromagnetic Born-Infeld field. Depending on the metric parameters, these solutions may be interpreted as black hole solutions with inner and outer event horizons, an extreme black hole or naked singularity. We investigate the thermodynamics of asymptotically flat solutions and show that the thermodynamic and conserved quantities of these black holes satisfy the first law of thermodynamic. We also endow the Ricci flat solutions with a global rotation and calculate the finite action and conserved quantities of these class of solutions by using the counterterm method. We compute the entropy through the use of the Gibbs-Duhem relation and find that the entropy obeys the area law. We obtain a Smarr-type formula for the mass as a function of the entropy, the angular momenta, and the charge, and compute temperature, angular velocities, and electric potential and show that these thermodynamic quantities coincide with their values which are computed through the use of geometry. Finally, we perform a stability analysis for this class of solutions in both the canonical and the grand-canonical ensemble and show that the presence of a nonlinear electromagnetic field and higher curvature terms has no effect on the stability of the black branes, and they are stable in the whole phase space.

Magnetic Strings in Einstein-Born-Infeld-Dilaton Gravity

A class of spinning magnetic string in 4-dimensional Einstein-dilaton gravity with Liouville type potential which produces a longitudinal nonlinear electromagnetic field is presented. These solutions have no curvature singularity and no horizon, but have a conic geometry. In these spacetimes, when the rotation parameter does not vanish, there exists an electric field, and therefore the spinning string has a net electric charge which is proportional to the rotation parameter. Although the asymptotic behavior of these solutions are neither flat nor (A)dS, we calculate the conserved quantities of these solutions by using the counterterm method. We also generalize these four-dimensional solutions to the case of $(n+1)$-dimensional rotating solutions with $k\leq[n/2]$ rotation parameters, and calculate the conserved quantities and electric charge of them.

Thermodynamics of rotating black branes in $(n+1)$-dimensional Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton gravity

In this paper, we construct a new class of charged, rotating solutions of $% (n+1)$-dimensional Einstein-Born-Infeld-dilaton gravity with Liouville-type potentials and investigate their properties. These solutions are neither asymptotically flat nor (anti)-de Sitter. We find that these solutions can represent black brane, with inner and outer event horizons, an extreme black brane or a naked singularity provided the parameters of the solutions are chosen suitably. We also compute temperature, entropy, charge, electric potential, mass and angular momentum of the black brane solutions, and show that these quantities satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. We find that the conserved quantities are independent of the Born-Infeld parameter $β$, while they depend on the dilaton coupling constant $α$. We also find the total mass of the black brane with infinite boundary as a function of the entropy, the angular momenta and the charge and perform a stability analysis by computing the heat capacity in the canonical ensemble. We find that the system is thermally stable for $α\leq 1$ independent of the values of the charge and Born-Infeld parameters, while for $α> 1$ the system has an unstable phase. In the latter case, the solutions are stable provided $α\leq α_{\max}$ and $β\geq β_{\min}$, where $% α_{\max}$ and $β_{\min}$ depend on the charge and the dimensionality of the spacetime. That is the solutions are unstable for highly nonlinear electromagnetic field or when the dilaton coupling constant is large.

Thermodynamics of Rotating Black Branes in Gauss-Bonnet-Born-Infeld Gravity

Considering both the Gauss-Bonnet and the Born-Infeld terms, which are on similar footing with regard to string corrections on the gravity side and electrodynamic side, we present a new class of rotating solutions in Gauss-Bonnet gravity with $k$ rotation parameters in the presence of a nonlinear electromagnetic field. These solutions, which are asymptotically anti-de Sitter in the presence of cosmological constant, may be interpreted as black brane solutions with inner and outer event horizons, an extreme black brane or naked singularity provided the metric parameters are chosen suitably. We calculate the finite action and conserved quantities of the solutions by using the counterterm method, and find that these quantities do not depend on the Gauss-Bonnet parameter. We also compute the temperature, the angular velocities, the electric charge and the electric potential. Then, we calculate the entropy of the black brane through the use of Gibbs-Duhem relation and show that it obeys the area law of entropy. We obtain a Smarr-type formula for the mass as a function of the entropy, the angular momenta and the charge, and show that the conserved and thermodynamic quantities satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. Finally, we perform a stability analysis in both the canonical and grand-canonical ensemble and show that the presence of a nonlinear electromagnetic field has no effect on the stability of the black branes, and they are stable in the whole phase space.

We find that these solutions can present black brane, with inner and outer event horizons, an extreme black brane or a naked singularity provided the parameters of the solutions are chosen suitably. We compute the finite Euclidean action through the use of counterterm method, and obtain the conserved and thermodynamic quantities by using the relation between the action and free energy in grand-canonical ensemble. We find that these quantities satisfy the first law of thermodynamics, and the entropy does not follow the area law.

Taub-NUT/Bolt Black Holes in Gauss-Bonnet-Maxwell Gravity

We present a class of higher dimensional solutions to Gauss-Bonnet-Maxwell equations in $2k+2$ dimensions with a U(1) fibration over a $2k$-dimensional base space $\mathcal{B}$. These solutions depend on two extra parameters, other than the mass and the NUT charge, which are the electric charge $q$ and the electric potential at infinity $V$. We find that the form of metric is sensitive to geometry of the base space, while the form of electromagnetic field is independent of $\mathcal{B}$. We investigate the existence of Taub-NUT/bolt solutions and find that in addition to the two conditions of uncharged NUT solutions, there exist two other conditions. These two extra conditions come from the regularity of vector potential at $r=N$ and the fact that the horizon at $r=N$ should be the outer horizon of the black hole. We find that for all non-extremal NUT solutions of Einstein gravity having no curvature singularity at $r=N$, there exist NUT solutions in Gauss-Bonnet-Maxwell gravity. Indeed, we have non-extreme NUT solutions in $2+2k$ dimensions only when the $2k$-dimensional base space is chosen to be $\mathbb{CP}^{2k}$. We also find that the Gauss-Bonnet-Maxwell gravity has extremal NUT solutions whenever the base space is a product of 2-torii with at most a 2-dimensional factor space of positive curvature, even though there a curvature singularity exists at $r=N$. We also find that one can have bolt solutions in Gauss-Bonnet-Maxwell gravity with any base space. The only case for which one does not have black hole solutions is in the absence of a cosmological term with zero curvature base space.
