Teleportation via spin-1/2 chain in solid-state quantum architecture

We propose the protocol for preparing the maximally entangled Bell state between remote qubits at the ends of the spin-1/2 chain governed by the specially engineered nearest-neighbor XX-Hamiltonian with excited central spin as the initial state. This method does not require including optical constituent in the teleportation protocol and can be implemented in the quantum devices with solid-state architecture for teleporting unknown states or organizing quantum gates between remote qubits. A superconducting flux-qubit chain is an example of such devises.

Two-level control over quantum state creation via entangled equal-probability state

We propose the scheme realizing the two-level control over the unitary operators $U_k$ creating the required quantum state of the system $S$. These operators are controlled by the superposition state of the auxiliary subsystem $R$ which is governed by two control centers. The first-level control center (main control) creates the equal-probability pure state of $R$ with certain distribution of phase factors that, in turn, govern the power of the second-level control center $C$ that applies the special $V$-operators to the same subsystem $R$ changing its state and thus controlling the applicability of $U_k$. In addition, the above phases are responsible for the entanglement in the subsystem $R$. We find the direct relation between this entanglement and the number of operators $U_k$ that can be controlled by $C$. The simple example of a two-level control system governing the creation of entangled state of the two-qubit system $S$ is presented.

Simulation of three-spin evolution under XX Hamiltonian on quantum processor of IBM-Quantum Experience

We simulate the evolution of three-node spin chain on the quantum processor of IBM Quantum Experience using the diagonalization of $XX$-Hamiltonian and representing the evolution operator in terms of CNOT operations and one-qubit rotations. We study the single excitation transfer from the first to the third node and show the significant difference between calculated and theoretical values of state transfer probability. Then we propose a method reducing this difference by applying the two-parameter transformation including the shift and scale of the calculated probabilities. { We demonstrate the universality of this transformation inside of the class of three-node evolutionary systems governed by the $XX$-Hamiltonian.

Multiple quantum NMR in solids as a method of determination of Wigner-Yanase skew information

A connection of the Wigner-Yanase skew information and multiple quantum (MQ) NMR coherences is considered at different temperatures and evolution times of nuclear spins with dipole-dipole interactions in MQ NMR experiments in solids. It is shown that the Wigner-Yanase skew information at temperature $T$ is equal to the double second moment of the MQ NMR spectrum at the double temperature for any evolution times. A comparison of the many-spin entanglement obtained with the Wigner-Yanase information and the Fisher information is conducted.

Dymanics of spin dimers in multiple quantum NMR experiment is studied on the 5-qubit superconducting quantum processor of IBM {Quantum Experience} for the both {pure} ground and thermodynamic equilibrium (mixed) initial states. The work can be considered as a first step towards an application of quantum computers to solving problems of magnetic resonance. This article is dedicated to Prof. Klaus Möbius and Prof. Kev Salikhov on the occasion of their 85th birthdays.

Many-particle Entanglement in Multiple Quantum NMR Spectroscopy

We use multiple quantum (MQ) NMR dynamics of a gas of spin-carrying molecules in nanocavities at high and low temperatures for an investigation of many-particle entanglement. A distribution of MQ NMR intensities is obtained at high and low temperatures in a system of 201 spins 1/2. The second moment of the distribution, which provides a lower bound on the quantum Fisher information, sheds light on the many-particle entanglement in the system. The dependence of the many-particle entanglement on the temperature is investigated. Almost all spins are entangled at low temperatures.

Calculation of $π$ on the IBM quantum computer and the accuracy of one-qubit operations

A quantum algorithm for the calculation of $π$ is proposed and implemented on the five-qubit IBM quantum computer with superconducting qubits. We find $π=3.157\pm0.017$. The error is due to the noise of quantum one-qubit operations and measurements. The results can be used for estimating the errors of the quantum computer and suggest that the errors are purely random.

Solving systems of linear algebraic equations via unitary transformations on quantum processor of IBM Quantum Experience

We propose a protocol for solving systems of linear algebraic equations via quantum mechanical methods using the minimal number of qubits. We show that $(M+1)$-qubit system is enough to solve a system of $M$ equations for one of the variables leaving other variables unknown provided that the matrix of a linear system satisfies certain conditions. In this case, the vector of input data (the rhs of a linear system) is encoded into the initial state of the quantum system. This protocol is realized on the 5-qubit superconducting quantum processor of IBM Quantum Experience for particular linear systems of three equations. We also show that the solution of a linear algebraic system can be obtained as the result of a natural evolution of an inhomogeneous spin-1/2 chain in an inhomogeneous external magnetic field with the input data encoded into the initial state of this chain. For instance, using such evolution in a 4-spin chain we solve a system of three equations.

Entanglement in block-scalable and block-scaled states

There is a special class of so-called block-scalable initial states of the sender whose transfer to the receiver through the spin chain results in multiplying {their} MQ-coherence matrices by scalar factors (block-scaled receiver's states). We study the entanglement in block-scalable and block-scaled states and show that, generically, the entanglement in block scaled states is less than the entanglement in the corresponding block-scalable states, although the balance between these entanglements depends on particular values of parameters characterizing these states. Using the perturbations of the sender's block-scalable initial states we show that generically the entanglement in the block-scalable states is bigger, while the entanglement in the block-scaled states is less than the entanglements in the appropriate states from their neighborhoods. A short chain of 6 and a long chain of 42 spin-1/2 particles are considered as examples.}

Relay entanglement and clusters of correlated spins

Considering a spin-1/2 chain, we {suppose} that the entanglement passes from a given pair of particles to another one, thus establishing the relay transfer of entanglement along the chain. Therefore, we introduce the relay entanglement as a sum of all pairwise entanglements in a spin chain. For more detailed studying the effects of {remote} pairwise entanglements, we use the partial sums collecting entanglements between the spins separated by up to a certain number of nodes. The problem of entangled cluster formation is considered, and the geometric mean entanglement is introduced as a {characteristics} of quantum correlations in a cluster. Generally, the life-time of a cluster decreases with an increase in its size.

Quantum correlations responsible for remote state creation: strong and weak control parameters

We study the quantum correlations between the two remote qubits (sender and receiver) connected by the transmission line (homogeneous spin-1/2 chain) depending on the parameters of the sender's and receiver's initial states (control parameters). We consider two different measures of quantum correlations: the entanglement (a traditional measure) and the informational correlation (based on the parameter exchange between the sender and receiver). We find the domain in the control parameter space yielding (i) zero entanglement between the sender and receiver during the whole evolution period and (ii) non-vanishing informational correlation between the sender and receiver, thus showing that the informational correlation is responsible for the remote state creation. Among the control parameters, there are the strong parameters (which strongly effect the values of studied measures) and the weak ones (whose effect is negligible), therewith the eigenvalues of the initial state are given a privileged role. We also show that the problem of small entanglement (concurrence) in quantum information processing is similar (in certain sense) to the problem of small determinants in linear algebra. A particular model of 40-node spin-1/2 communication line is presented.

Experimental and theoretical investigations of quantum state transfer and decoherence processes in quasi-one-dimensional systems in multiple-quantum NMR experiments

Multiple quantum (MQ) NMR methods \cite{Baum} are applied to the analysis of various problems of quantum information processing. It is shown that the two-spin/two-quantum Hamiltonian \cite{Baum} describing MQ NMR dynamics is related to the flip-flop Hamiltonian of a one-dimensional spin system in the approximation of the nearest neighbor interactions. As a result, it is possible to organize quantum state transfer along a linear chain. MQ NMR experiments are performed on quasi-one-dimensional chains of \BPChem{\^{19}F} nuclei in calcium fluorapatite \BPChem{Ca\_5(PO\_4)\_3F}. Relaxation of the MQ NMR coherences is considered as the simplest model of decoherence processes. A theory of the dipolar relaxation of the MQ NMR coherences in one-dimensional systems is developed. A good agreement of the theoretical predictions and the experimental data is obtained.

Remote control of quantum correlations in two-qubit receiver via three-qubit sender

We study the problem of remote control of quantum correlations (discord) in a sub-system of two qubits (receiver) via the parameters of the initial state of another sub-system of three qubits (sender) connected with the receiver by the inhomogeneous spin-1/2 chain. We propose two parameters characterizing the creatable correlations. The first one is the discord between the receiver and the rest of spin-1/2 chain, it concerns the mutual correlations between these two subsystems. The second parameter is the discord between the two nodes of the receiver and describes the correlations inside of the receiver. We study the dependence of these two discords on the inhomogeneity degree of spin chain.

Contributions of different parts of spin-spin interactions to quantum correlations in a spin ring model in an external magnetic field

We study quantum correlations in a bipartite heteronuclear $(N-1)\times1$ system in an external magnetic field. The system consists of a spin ring with an arbitrary number $N-1$ of spins on the ring and one spin in its center. The spins on the ring are connected by secular dipole-dipole interactions and interact with the central spin through the Heisenberg $zz$-interaction. We show that the quantum discord, describing quantum correlations between the ring and the central spin, can be obtained analytically for this model in the high temperature approximation. The model allows us to find contributions of different parts of the spin-spin interactions to quantum correlations. We also investigate the evolution of quantum and classical correlations at different numbers of spins.

Calculation of the quantum discord in many-qubit systems

For the first time, we compute the quantum discord in bipartite systems containing up to nine qubits. An analytical expression is obtained for the discord in a bipartite system with three qubits. The dependence of the discord on the temperature and the structural parameter of the model is studied.

The multiple quantum NMR dynamics in systems of equivalent spins with the dipolar ordered initial state

The multiple quantum (MQ) NMR dynamics in the system of equivalent spins with the dipolar ordered initial state is considered. The high symmetry of the MQ Hamiltonian is used in order to develop the analytical and numerical methods for an investigation of the MQ NMR dynamics in the systems consisting of hundreds of spins from "the first principles". We obtain the dependence of the intensities of the MQ NMR coherences on their orders (profiles of the MQ NMR coherences) for the systems of $200 - 600$ spins. It is shown that these profiles may be well approximated by the exponential distribution functions. We also compare the MQ NMR dynamics in the systems of equivalent spins having two different initial states, namely the dipolar ordered state and the thermal equilibrium state in the strong external magnetic field.

Numerical analysis of relaxation times of multiple quantum coherences in the system with a large number of spins

We study the decay of multiple quantum (MQ) NMR coherences in systems with the large number of equivalent spins. As being created on the preparation period of MQ NMR experiment, they decay due to the dipole-dipole interactions (DDI) on the evolution period of this experiment. It is shown that the relaxation time decreases with the increase in MQ coherence order {(according to the known results)} and in the number of spins. We also consider the modified preparation period of MQ NMR experiment (G.A.Alvarez, D.Suter, PRL {\bf 104}, 230403 (2010)) concatenating the short evolution periods under the secular DDI Hamiltonian (the perturbation) with the evolution period under the non-secular averaged two-spin/two-quantum Hamiltonian. The influence of the perturbation on the decoherence rate is investigated for the systems consisting of 200-600 equivalent spins.

The high probability state transfers and entanglements between different nodes of the homogeneous spin 1/2 chain in inhomogeneous external magnetic field

We consider the high probability state transfers and entanglements between different nodes of the spin-1/2 chains governed by the XXZ-Hamiltonian using the inhomogeneous stationary external magnetic field. Examples of three-, four-, ten- and twenty-node chains are represented. A variant of realization of the proper inhomogeneous magnetic field is discussed.
