Inside the Jaynes-Cummings sum

It is shown that the atomic inversion in the Jaynes-Cummings model has an exact representation as an integral over the Hankel contour. For a field in a coherent state, the integral is evaluated using the saddle point method. The trajectories of saddle points as a function of time are on the branches of the multi-valued Lambert function. All of them start at the initial moment of time, but make the maximum contribution to the inversion at different times. If the collapse and the first revival are clearly distinguished, then subsequent revivals are determined by the comparable contributions of several trajectories.

Collapse and revivals for the binomial field distribution

The exact representation of the atomic inversion in the Jaynes-Cummings model as an integral over the Hankel contour is used. For a field in a binomial state, the integral is evaluated using the saddle point method. Simple approximate analytical expressions for collapse and revivals are obtained.

Electron wave packet evolution under the influence of random electric field

We consider an electron wave packet evolution in the external deterministic electric field with Gaussian white noise addition. An explicit expression was given for the averaged probability flux with Gaussian initial wave function. We show that the noise addition increases wave packet spreading rate, which has a significant influence on flux amplitude and may play both destructive and constructive role. This depends on the form and amplitude of external deterministic field.
