Mutual Experimental and Theoretical Validation of Bulk Photoemission Spectra of Sr1-xCaxVO3

We report high-resolution high-energy photoemission spectra together with parameter-free LDA+DMFT (local density approximation + dynamical mean-field theory) results for Sr1-xCaxVO3, a prototype 3d1 system. In contrast to earlier investigations the bulk spectra are found to be insensitive to x. The good agreement between experiment and theory confirms the bulk-sensitivity of the high-energy photoemission spectra.

Genuine Electronic States of Vanadium Perovskites Revealed by High-Energy Photoemission

Bulk-sensitive high-resolution photoemission was carried out on a prototype 3d1 metallic Sr1-xCaxVO3. In a strong contrast to so far reported results, the bulk spectral functions are revealed to be insensitive to x. The conservation of the density of states at the Fermi level in spite of the electron correlation is clarified by the successful suppression and deconvolution of the surface contribution. Our study has demonstrated the importance of high-energy and high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy for revealing detailed bulk electronic states of transition metal oxides.

Doubling of the bands in overdoped Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8-probable evidence for c-axis bilayer coupling

We present high resolution ARPES data of the bilayer superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 (Bi2212) showing a clear doubling of the near EF bands. This splitting approaches zero along the (0,0)-(pi,pi) nodal line and is not observed in single layer Bi2Sr2CuO6 (Bi2201), suggesting that the splitting is due to the long sought after bilayer splitting effect. The splitting has a magnitude of approximately 75 meV near the middle of the zone, extrapolating to about 100 meV near the (pi,0) point

A re-examination of the electronic structure of Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+d} and Bi_2Sr_2Cu_1O_{6+d} - An electron-like Fermi Surface and the absence of flat bands at $E_F$

We present a re-examination of the electronic structure and Fermi Surface (FS) of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O (BSCCO) as obtained from angle-resolved photoemission experiments. By applying a stricter set of FS crossing criteria as well as by varying the incident photon energy outside the usual range, we have found very different behavior from that previously observed. In particular we have found an electron-like FS centered around the Gamma point, and the flat bands at E_F near the M point of the zone are absent. These results are robust over a large range of dopings and from single to double layer samples.
