Decomposition of matrices into product of idempotents and separativity of regular rings

Following O'Meara's result [Journal of Algebra and Its Applications Vol~\textbf{13}, No. 8 (2014)], it follows that the block matrix $A=\begin{pmatrix} B & 0 0 & 0 \end{pmatrix} \in M_{n+r}(R)$, $B\in M_n(R)$, $r\ge 1$, over a von Neumann regular separative ring $R$, is a product of idempotent matrices. Furthermore, this decomposition into idempotents of $A$ also holds when $B$ is an invertible matrix and $R$ is a GE ring (defined by Cohn [New mathematical monographs: {\bf 3}, Cambridge University Press (2006)]). As a consequence, it follows that if there exists an example of a von Neumann regular ring $R$ over which the matrix $ A=\begin{pmatrix} B & 0 0 & 0 \end{pmatrix} \in M_{n+r}(R) $ where $B\in M_n(R)$, $r\ge 1$ , cannot be expressed as a product of idempotents, then $R$ is not separative, thus providing an answer to an open question whether there exists a von Neumann regular ring which is not separative. The paper concludes with an example of an open question whether every totally nonnegative matrix is a product of nonnegative idempotent matrices.

Decay properties of undetected superheavy nuclei with Z>110

A comprehensive study of favoured and unfavoured $α$-decay, cluster decay, weak-decay along with spontaneous fission in undetected superheavy nuclei within the range for proton number 111$\leq$Z$\leq$118 and neutron number 161$\leq$N$\leq$192 is performed. Half-lives for various mentioned decays are estimated with good accuracy on the basis of NUBASE2020 and are found in excellent match with the known half-lives. $α$-decay mode is found most probable in this wide range and correspondingly potential $α$-decay chains are reckoned. Peculiarly, the chances of cluster emission, as well as weak-decay, are also anticipated in this region of the periodic chart which open new pathways of detection of superheavy nuclei.

Cluster radioactivity in trans-lead region: A systematic study with modified empirical formulas

The possibility of cluster emission from trans-lead (86$\leq$Z$\leq$96) region of periodic chart has been explored comprehensively by employing few empirical formulas which are modified by adding angular momentum ($l$) or isospin-dependent ($I=(N-Z)/A$) or both terms for the calculation of cluster decay half-lives. These modified versions of the formulas are found with lesser $χ^2$ per degree of freedom and root mean-square error, in addition to the smaller values of some other statistical parameters, while compared to their corresponding old versions on available 61 experimental data of cluster radioactivity. By applying the modified version of the formula given by Balasubramaniam \textit{et al.} [PRC 70 (2004) 017301], the most accurate formula among these, half-lives of several clusters i.e. isotopes of Be, B, C, N, O, F, Ne, Na, Mg, and Si are predicted systematically for the several isotopes in the trans-lead region. The contest of cluster emission with $α$-decay has been investigated in form of branching ratio which brings several potential cluster emissions into the probable decay modes of these nuclei. The accurate prediction of half-lives of such clusters is expected to be crucial for the future experimental observations where $α$-decay is observed dominantly.

A comprehensive study of decay modes associated with Pb isotopes

Decay modes in Pb isotopes within the range 176$\leq$A$\leq$266 are investigated by the calculation of half-lives using several empirical formulas. These formulas along with various theoretical treatments are first tested to reproduce experimental half-lives and known decay modes of Pb isotopes, which are in consequence applied to estimate half-lives and decay modes of unknown Pb isotopes. A comparison between $α$-decay and weak-decay from the stable to drip-line isotopes is canvassed which leads to the excellent match with experimental data and applicability of applied empirical formulas. In addition, the full chain of Pb isotopes is probed as potential daughter candidates of cluster emission from superheavy nuclei which ensued the predominant role of $^{208}$Pb and nearby isotopes in probable cluster emission.

Structural properties of nuclei with semi-magic number N(Z)=40

Various ground state properties are explored for full isotonic(isotopic) chain of neutron number N(proton number Z)$=$40 using different families of Relativistic Mean-Field theory. Several properties such as nucleon separation energies, pairing energies, deformation, radii and nucleon density distributions are evaluated and compared with the experimental data as well as those from other microscopic and macroscopic models. N$=$40 isotonic chain presents ample of support for the neutron magicity and articulates double magicity in recently discovered $^{60}$Ca and $^{68}$Ni. Our results are in close conformity with recently measured value of charge radius of $^{68}$Ni [S. Kaufmann \textit{et al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. 124, 132502 (2020)] which supports the N$=$40 magicity. Contrarily, Zr isotopes (Z$=$40) display variety of shapes leading to the phenomenon of shape transitions and shape co-existence. The role of 3s$_{1/2}$ state, which leads to central depletion if unoccupied, is also investigated. $^{56}_{16}$S and $^{122}_{40}$Zr are found to be doubly bubble nuclei.

Remarks on separativity of regular rings

Separative von Neumann regular rings exist in abundance. For example, all regular self-injective rings, unit regular rings, regular rings with a polynomial identity are separative. It remains open whether there exists a non-separative regular ring. In this note, we study a variety of conditions under which a von Neumann regular ring is separative. We show that a von Neumann regular ring $R$ is separative under anyone of the following cases: {\it (1)} $R$ is CS; {\it (2)} $R$ is pseudo injective (auto-injective); {\it (3)} $R$ satisfies the closure extension property: the essential closures in $R$ of two isomorphic right ideals are themselves isomorphic. We also give another characterization of a regular perspective ring (Proposition 3.3)

Structural Properties and $α$-Decay Chains of Transfermium Nuclei (101$\leq$Z$\leq$110)

Transfermium nuclei (101$\leq$Z$\leq$110) are investigated thoroughly to describe structural properties viz. deformation, radii, shapes, magicity, etc. as well as their probable decay chains. These properties are explored using relativistic mean-field (RMF) approach and compared with other theories along with available experimental data. Neutron numbers N$=$152 and 162 have come forth with a deformed shell gap whereas N$=$184 is ensured as a spherical magic number. The region with N$>$168 bears witness of the phenomenon of shape transition and shape coexistence for all the considered isotopic chains. Experimental $α$-decay half-lives are compared with our theoretical half-lives obtained by using various empirical/semi-empirical formulas. The recent formula proposed by Manjunatha \textit{et al.}, which results best among the considered 10 formulas, is further modified by adding asymmetry dependent terms ($I$ and $I^2$). This modified Manjunatha formula is utilized to predict probable $α$-decay chains that are found in excellent agreement with available experimental data.

Study of Decay Modes in Transfermium Isotopes

In the unknown territory of transfermium nuclei, the relativistic mean-field (RMF) theory has been applied to probe decay modes which include $α$-decay, spontaneous fission (SF), and a less explored weak-decay. These decay modes are analyzed on equal footing for 101$\leq$Z$\leq$109 and as a consequence, the half-lives for weak-decay are indeed found comparable for several isotopes. Our prediction of decay modes and half-lives are found in excellent agreement with available experimental decay modes and half-lives along with the results of some other theories. Out of $α$, $β^+$/EC, $β^-$, and SF, the most probable decay mode is anticipated along with its half-life over a wide range of odd and even nuclei to frame a novel sight into terra incognita.

Novel feature of doubly bubble nuclei in 50$\leq$Z(N)$\leq$82 region along with magicity and weakly bound structure

In this work, we identify a unique and novel feature of central density depletion in both proton and neutron named as doubly bubble nuclei in 50$\leq$Z(N)$\leq$82 region. The major role of 2d-3s single-particle (s.p.) states in the existence of halo and bubble nuclei is probed. The occupancy in s.p. state 3s$_{1/2}$ leads to the extended neutron density distribution or halo while the unoccupancy results in the central density depletion. By employing the Relativistic Mean-Field (RMF) approach along with NL3* parameter, the separation energies, single-particle energies, pairing energies, proton, and neutron density profiles along with deformations of even-even nuclei are investigated. Our results are in concise with few other theories and available experimental data. Emergence on new shell closure and the magicity of conventional shell closures are explored systematically in this yet unknown region.

Bubble Structure in Magic Nuclei

The existence of bubble nuclei identified by the central depletion in nucleonic density is studied for the conventional magic N (Z) $=$ 8, 20, 28, 40, 50, 82, 126 isotones (isotopes) and recently speculated magic N $=$ 164, 184, 228 superheavy isotones. Many new bubble nuclei are predicted in all regions. Study of density profiles, form factor, single particle levels and depletion fraction (DF) across the periodic chart reveals that the central depletion is correlated to shell structure and occurs due to unoccupancy in s-orbit (2s, 3s, 4s) and inversion of (2s, 1d) and (3s, 1h) states in nuclei upto Z $\le$ 82. Bubble effect in superheavy region is a signature of the interplay between the Coulomb and nn-interaction and depletion fraction (DF) is found to increase with Z (Coulomb repulsion) and decrease with isospin. Our results are consistent with the available data. The occupancy in s-state in $^{34}$Si increases with temperature which appears to quench the bubble effect.

Regular elements determined by generalized inverses

In a semiprime ring, von Neumann regular elements are determined by their inner inverses. In particular, for elements $a,b$ of a von Neumann regular ring $R$, $a=b$ if and only if $I(a)=I(b)$, where $I(x)$ denotes the set of inner inverses of $x\in R$. We also prove that, in a semiprime ring, the same is true for reflexive inverses.

Description of Nuclei with Magic Number Z(N) = 6

Encouraged with the evidence for Z = 6 magic number in neutron-rich carbon isotopes, we have performed relativistic mean-field plus BCS calculations to investigate ground state properties of entire chains of isotopes(isotones) with Z(N) = 6 including even and odd mass nuclei. Our calculations include deformation, binding energy, separation energy, single particle energy, rms radii along with charge and neutron density profile etc., and are found in an excellent match with latest experimental results demonstrating Z = 6 as a strong magic number. N = 6 is also found to own similar kind of strong magic character.

Distinct ground state features and the decay chains of Z = 121 Superheavy Nuclei

A fully systematic study of even and odd isotopes (281 $\leq$ A $\leq$ 380) of Z = 121 superheavy nuclei is presented in theoretical frameworks of Relativistic mean-field plus state dependent BCS approach and Macroscopic-Microscopic approach with triaxially deformed Nilson Strutinsky prescription. The ground state properties namely shell correction, binding energy, two- and one- proton and neutron separation energy, shape, deformation, density profile and the radius are estimated that show strong evidence for magicity in N = 164, 228. Central depletion in the charge density due to large repulsive Coulomb field indicating bubble-like structure is reported. A comprehensive analysis of the possible decay modes specifically $α$-decay and spontaneous fission (SF) is presented and the probable $α$-decay chains are evaluated. Results are compared with FRDM calculations and the available experimental data which show excellent agreement.

Two-Proton Radioactivity with 2p halo in light mass nuclei A$=$18$-$34

Two-proton radioactivity with 2p halo is reported theoretically in light mass nuclei A $=$ 18-34. We predict $^{19}$Mg, $^{22}$Si, $^{26}$S, $^{30}$Ar and $^{34}$Ca as promising candidates of ground state 2p-radioactivity with S$_{2p}$ $<$ 0 and S$_{p}$ $>$ 0. Observation of extended tail of spatial charge density distribution, larger charge radius and study of proton single particle states, Fermi energy and the wave functions indicate 2p halo like structure which supports direct 2p emission. The Coulomb and centrifugal barriers in experimentally identified 2p unbound $^{22}$Si show a quasi-bound state that ensures enough life time for such experimental probes. Our predictions are in good accord with experimental and other theoretical data available so far.

Matrix wreath products of algebras and embedding theorems

We introduce a new construction of matrix wreath products of algebras that is similar to wreath products of groups. We then use it to prove embedding theorems for Jacobson radical, nil, and primitive algebras. In §\ref{Section6}, we construct finitely generated nil algebras of arbitrary Gelfand-Kirillov dimension $\geq 8$ over a countable field which answers a question from \cite{8}.

Algebras and semigroups of locally subexponential growth

We prove that a countable dimensional associative algebra (resp. a countable semigroup) of locally subexponential growth is $M_\infty$-embeddable as a left ideal in a finitely generated algebra (resp. semigroup) of subexponential growth. Moreover, we provide bounds for the growth of the finitely generated algebra (resp. semigroup). The proof is based on a new construction of matrix wreath product of algebras.

Indecomposable Decomposition and couniserial dimension

Dimensions like Gelfand, Krull, Goldie have an intrinsic role in the study of theory of rings and modules. They provide useful technical tools for studying their structure. In this paper we define one of the dimensions called couniserial dimension that measures how close a ring or module is to being uniform. Despite their different objectives, it turns out that there are certain common properties between the couniserial dimension and Krull dimension like each module having such a dimension contains a uniform submodule and has finite uniform dimension, among others. Like all dimensions, this is an ordinal valued invariant. Every module of finite length has couniserial dimension and its value lies between the uniform dimension and the length of the module. Modules with countable couniserial dimension are shown to possess indecomposable decomposition. In particular, von Neumann regular ring with countable couniserial dimension is semisimple artinian. If the maximal right quotient ring of a non-singular ring R has a couniserial dimension as an R-module, then R is a semiprime right Goldie ring. As one of the applications, it follows that all right R-modules have couniserial dimension if and only if R is a semisimple artinian ring.

Finite generation of Lie algebras associated to associative algebras

Let $F$ be a field of characteristic not $2$ . An associative $F$-algebra $R$ gives rise to the commutator Lie algebra $R^{(-)}=(R,[a,b]=ab-ba).$ If the algebra $R$ is equipped with an involution $*:R\rightarrow R$ then the space of the skew-symmetric elements $K=\{a \in R \mid a^{*}=-a \}$ is a Lie subalgebra of $R^{(-)}.$ In this paper we find sufficient conditions for the Lie algebras $[R,R]$ and $[K,K]$ to be finitely generated.
