Inverse application of the generalized Littlewood theorem concerning integrals of the logarithm of analytic functions: an easy method to establish equalities between different analytic functions

Recently, we have established and used the generalized Littlewood theorem concerning contour integrals of the logarithm of analytical function to obtain new criteria equivalent to the Riemann hypothesis. Later, the same theorem was applied to calculate certain infinite sums and study the properties of zeroes of a few analytical functions. In this Note, we discuss what, in a sense, are inverse applications of this theorem. We first prove an easy Lemma that if two meromorphic on the whole complex plane functions $f(z)$ and $g(z)$ have the same zeroes and poles, taking into account their orders, and have appropriate asymptotic for large $|z|$, then for some integer $n$, $d^n \ln(f(z)/dz^n = d^n\ln(g(z)/dz^n$. The use of this Lemma enables easy proofs of many identities between elliptic functions and their transformation rules. In particular, we show how for any complex number $a$, $\wp(z)-a$, where $\wp(z)$ is Weierstrass $\wp$-function, can be presented as a product and ratio of three elliptic $θ_1$-functions of certain arguments. We also establish n-tuple rules for elliptic theta-functions and /rho_z(z) functions.

Probing hidden sectors with a muon beam: implication of spin-0 dark matter mediators for muon $(g-2)$ anomaly and validity of the Weiszäcker-Williams approach

In addition to vector ($V$) type new particles extensively discussed previously, both CP-even ($S$) and CP-odd ($P$) spin-0 Dark Matter (DM) mediators can couple to muons and be produced in the bremsstrahlung reaction $μ^- + N \rightarrow μ^- + N + S(P)$. Their possible subsequent invisible decay into a pair of Dirac DM particles, $S(P) \to χ\overlineχ$, can be detected in fixed target experiments through missing energy signature. In this paper, we focus on the case of experiments using high-energy muon beams. For this reason, we derive the differential cross-sections involved using the phase space Weiszäcker-Williams approximation and compare them to the exact-tree-level calculations. The formalism derived can be applied in various experiments that could observe muon-spin-0 DM interactions. This can happen in present and future proton beam-dump experiments such as NA62, SHIP, HIKE, and SHADOWS; in muon fixed target experiments as NA64$μ$, MUoNE and M3; in neutrino experiments using powerful proton beams such as DUNE. In particular, we focus on the NA64$μ$ experiment case, which uses a 160 GeV muon beam at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron accelerator. We compute the derived cross-sections, the resulting signal yields and we discuss the experiment projected sensitivity to probe the relic DM parameter space and the $(g-2)_μ$ anomaly favoured region considering $10^{12}$ and $10^{13}$ muons on target.

Nanophotonic structures with optical surface modes for tunable spin current generation

Heat generated by spin currents in spintronics-based devices is typically much less than that generated by charge current flows in conventional electronic devices. However, the conventional approaches for excitation of spin currents based on spin-pumping and spin Hall effect are limited in efficiency which restricts their application for viable spintronic devices. We propose a novel type of photonic-crystal (PC) based structures for efficient and tunable optically-induced spin current generation via the Spin Seebeck and inverse spin Hall effects. It is experimentally demonstrated that optical surface modes localized at the PC surface covered by ferromagnetic layer and materials with giant spin-orbit coupling (SOC) notably increase the efficiency of the optically-induced spin current generation and provides its tunability by modifying light wavelength or angle of incidence. Up to 100% of the incident light power can be transferred to heat within the SOC layer and, therefore, to spin current. Importantly, high efficiency becomes accessible even for ultra-thin SOC layers. Moreover, surface patterning of the PC-based spintronic nanostructure allows local generation of spin currents at the pattern scales rather than diameter of the laser beam.

High-Q surface electromagnetic wave resonance excitation in magneto-photonic crystals for super-sensitive detection of weak light absorption in near-IR

Mid-infrared spectrum can be recorded from almost any material making the mid-infrared spectroscopy an extremely important and widely used sample characterization and analytical technique. However, sensitivity photoconductive detectors operate primarily in the near-infrared (NIR) but not in the mid-infrared making the NIR more favorable for accurate spectral analysis. Although absorption cross-section of vibrational modes in near-infrared is orders of magnitude smaller compared to the fundamental vibrations in mid-infrared, different concepts were proposed to increase the detectability of weak molecular transitions overtones. Yet, the contribution of magneto-photonic structures in near-infrared absorption effect has never been explored so far. Here we propose high-Q magneto-photonic structures for a super-sensitive detection of weak absorption resonances in near-infrared. We analyze the contributions of both magnetic and non-magnetic photonic crystal (PC) configurations to the detection of weak molecular transitions overtones. Our results constitute an important step towards development of highly sensitive spectroscopic tools based on high-Q magneto-photonic sensors.

Generating functions for the generalized Li's sums

Recently, in arXiv:1304.7895; Ukrainian Math. J. - 2014.- 66. - P. 371 - 383, we presented the generalized Li's criterion. This is the statement that the sums /lambda_(n, b, /sigma)=Sum_(rho)((1-((/rho+b)/(/rho-b-2*/sigma))^n)), taken over all Riemann xi-function zeroes taking into account their multiplicity (complex conjugate zeroes are to be paired when summing whenever necessary) for any n=1, 2, 3... and any real b>(-/sigma), are non-negative if and only if there are no Riemann function zeroes with Re(b)>/sigma. For any n=1, 2, 3... and any real b<(-/sigma), these sums are non-negative if and only if there are no Riemann function zeroes with Re(b)</sigma; correspondingly, for /sigma=1/2 and b not equal to 1/2 such non-negativity is equivalent to the Riemann hypothesis. In this Note we obtain generation functions for this generalized criterion demonstrating the Taylor expansion (b is not equal to (-/sigma)): Ln(/xi(b+2*/sigma+(2*b+2*/sigma)*z/(1-z))) =ln(/xi(b+2*/sigma))+Sum_(n=1)^(infinity)(/lambda_(n, b, /sigma)*z^n/n))

Both real and imaginary parts of the function F(s)=zeta(s)*Gamma(s/2)*pi**(-s/2)=xi(s)/(s*(s-1)), whose zeroes exactly coincide with the non-trivial zeroes of the Riemann zeta-function, have infinitely many zeroes for any value of Re(s)

The following theorem is proven: Both real and imaginary parts of the function F(s) defined as F(s)=zeta(s)*Gamma(s/2)*pi**(-s/2)=xi(s)/(s*(s-1)), and whose zeroes exactly coincide with the non-trivial zeroes of the Riemann zeta-function, have infinitely many zeroes for any value of Re(s).

Laser nanotraps and nanotweezers for cold atoms: 3D gradient dipole force trap in the vicinity of Scanning Near-field Optical Microscope tip

Using a two-dipole model of an optical near-field of Scanning Near-field Optical Microscope tip, i. e. taking into account contributions of magnetic and electric dipoles, we propose and analyze a new type of 3D optical nanotrap found for certain relations between electric and magnetic dipoles. Electric field attains a minimum value in vacuum in the vicinity of the tip and hence such a trap is quite suitable for manipulations with cold atoms.
