Mathematical researches of D. P. Zhelobenko

This is a brief overview of researches of Dmitry Petrovich Zhelobenko (1934--2006). He is the best known for his book "Compact Lie groups and their representations" and for the classification of all irreducible representations of complex semisimple Lie groups. We tell also on other his works, especially on the spectral analysis of representations.

Bethe Ansatz for the Universal Weight Function

We consider universal off-shell Bethe vectors given in terms of Drinfeld realization of the algebra $U_q(\widehat{gl}_N)$ [arXiv:math/0610517,arXiv:0711.2819]. We investigate ordering properties of the product of the transfer matrix and these vectors. We derive that these vectors are eigenvectors of the transfer matrix if their Bethe parameters satisfy the universal Bethe equations [arXiv:math-ph/0512037].

Quiver $D$-Modules and Homology of Local Systems over an Arrangement of Hyperplanes

Let $C$ be an arrangement of affine hyperplanes in a complex affine space $X$, $D$ the ring of algebraic differential operators on $X$. We define a category of quivers associated with $C$. A quiver is a collection of vector spaces, attached to strata of the arrangement, and suitable linear maps between the vector spaces . To a quiver we assign a $D$-module on $X$, called the quiver $D$-module. We describe basic operations for $D$-modules in terms of linear algebra of quivers. We give an explicit construction of a free resolution of a quive $D$-module and use the construction to describe the associated perverse sheaf. As an application, we calculate the cohomology of $X$ with coefficients in the quiver perverse sheaf (under certain assumptions).

Mickelsson algebras and Zhelobenko operators

We construct a family of automorphisms of Mickelsson algebra, satisfying braid group relations. The construction uses 'Zhelobenko cocycle' and includes the dynamical Weyl group action as a particular case.

Q-power function over Q-commuting variables and deformed XXX, XXZ chains

We find certain functional identities for the Gauss q-power function of a sum of q-commuting variables. Then we use these identities to obtain two-parameter twists of the quantum affine algebra U_q (\hat{sl}_2) and of the Yangian Y(sl_2). We determine the corresponding deformed trigonometric and rational quantum R-matrices, which then are used in the computation of deformed XXX and XXZ Hamiltonians.

Integral Presentations for the Universal R-matrix

We present an integral formula for the universal R-matrix of quantum affine algebra with 'Drinfeld comultiplication'. We show that the properties of the universal R-matrix follow from the factorization properties of the cycles in proper configuration spaces. For general g we conjecture that such cycles exist and unique. For $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$ describe precisely the cycles and present a new simple expression for the universal R-matrix as a result of calculation of corresponding integrals.

Factorization of the Universal R-matrix for $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$

The factorization of the universal R-matrix corresponding to so called Drinfeld Hopf structure is described on the example of quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{sl}_2)$. As a result of factorization procedure we deduce certain differential equations on the factors of the universal ${\cal R}$-matrix, which allow to construct uniquely these factors in the integral form.

Angular Quantization of the Sine-Gordon Model at the Free Fermion Point

The goal of this paper is to analyse the method of angular quantization for the Sine-Gordon model at the free fermion point, which is one of the most investigated models of the two-dimensional integrable field theories. The angular quantization method (see hep-th/9707091) is a continuous analog of the Baxter's corner transfer matrix method. Investigating the canonical quantization of the free massive Dirac fermions in one Rindler wedge we identify this quantization with a representation of the infinite-dimensional algebra introduced in the paper q-alg/9702002 and specialized to the free fermion point. We construct further the main ingredients of the SG theory in terms of the representation theory of this algebra following the approach by M.Jimbo, T.Miwa et al.

Classical Limit of the Scaled Elliptic Algebra $A_{\hbar,η}(sl_2)$

The classical limit of the scaled elliptic algebra $A_{\hbar,η}(sl_2)$ is investigated. The limiting Lie algebra is described in two equivalent ways: as a central extension of the algebra of generalized automorphic $sl_2$ valued functions on a strip and as an extended algebra of decreasing automorphic $sl_2$ valued functions on the real line. A bialgebra structure and an infinite-dimensional representation in the Fock space are studied. The classical limit of elliptic algebra $A_{q,p}(sl_2)$ is also briefly presented.

Double quantization of $\cp$ type orbits by generalized Verma modules

It is known that symmetric orbits in ${\bf g}^*$ for any simple Lie algebra ${\bf g}$ are equiped with a Poisson pencil generated by the Kirillov-Kostant-Souriau bracket and the reduced Sklyanin bracket associated to the "canonical" R-matrix. We realize quantization of this Poisson pencil on $\cp$ type orbits (i.e. orbits in $sl(n+1)^*$ whose real compact form is $ CP^n$) by means of q-deformed Verma modules.

Yangian Algebras and Classical Riemann Problems

We investigate different Hopf algebras associated to Yang's solution of quantum Yang-Baxter equation. It is shown that for the precise definition of the algebra one needs the commutation relations for the deformed algebra of formal currents and the specialization of the Riemann problem for the currents. Two different Riemann problems are considered. They lead to the central extended Yangian double associated with ${sl}_2$ and to the degeneration of scaling limit of elliptic affine algebra. Unless the defining relations for the generating functions of the both algebras coincide their properties and the theory of infinite-dimensional representations are quite different. We discuss also the Riemann problem for twisted algebras and for scaled elliptic algebra.

Elliptic algebra $A_{q,p}(\hat{sl_2})$ in the scaling limit

The scaling limit $A_{\hbar,η}(\hat{sl_2})$ of the elliptic algebra $A_{q,p}(\hat{sl_2})$ is investigated. The limiting algebra is defined in terms of a continuous family of generators being Fourier harmonics of Gauss coordinates of the $L$-operator. Ding-Frenkel isomorphism between $L$-operator's and current descriptions of the algebra $A_{\hbar,η}(\hat{sl_2})$ is established and is identified with the Riemann problem on a strip. The representations, coalgebraic structure and intertwining operators of the algebra are studied.

Intertwining Operators for the Central Extension of the Yangian Double

We continue the investigation of the central extended Yangian double [S. Khoroshkin, q-alg/9602031]. In this paper we study the intertwining operators for certain infinite dimensional representations of $\Yd$, which are deformed analogs of the highest weight representations of the affine algebra $\aff$ at level 1. We give bosonized expressions for intertwining operators, verify that they generate an algebra isomorphic to Zamolodchikov--Faddeev algebra for the $SU(2)$-invariant Thirring model. We compose from them $L$-operators by Miki's prescription and verify that they coincide with $L$-operators constructed from universal ${\cal R}$-matrix.

Traces of Intertwining Operators for the Yangian Double

The traces over infinite dimensional representations of the central extended Yangian double for the product of operators which intertwine these representations are calculated. For the special combinations of the intertwining operators the traces are identified with form factors of local operators in SU(2)-invariant Thirring model. This identification is based on the identities which are deformed analogs of the Gauss-Manin connection identities for the hyperelliptic curves.

Generalized Hirota Equations and Representation Theory. I. The case of $SL(2)$ and $SL_q(2)$"

This paper begins investigation of the concept of ``generalized $τ$-function'', defined as a generating function of all the matrix elements of a group element $g \in G$ in a given highest-weight representation of a universal enveloping algebra ${\cal G}$. In the generic situation, the time-variables correspond to the elements of maximal nilpotent subalgebras rather than Cartanian elements. Moreover, in the case of quantum groups such $τ$-``functions'' are not $c$-numbers but take their values in non-commutative algebras (of functions on the quantum group $G$). Despite all these differences from the particular case of conventional $τ$-functions of integrable (KP and Toda lattice) hierarchies (which arise when $G$ is a Kac-Moody (1-loop) algebra of level $k=1$), these generic $τ$-functions also satisfy bilinear Hirota-like equations, which can be deduced from manipulations with intertwining operators. The most important applications of the formalism should be to $k>1$ Kac-Moody and multi-loop algebras, but this paper contains only illustrative calculations for the simplest case of ordinary (0-loop) algebra $SL(2)$ and its quantum counterpart $SL_q(2)$, as well as for the system of fundamental representations of $SL(n)$.
