Electron Transfer between Weakly Coupled Concentric Quantum Rings

The electronic structure of the semiconductor double concentric quantum nano-ring (DCQR) is studied under the single sub-band effective mass approach. We show that in the weakly coupled DCQR, that has been placed in transverse magnetic field, the electron spatial transition between the rings can occur due to electron level anti-crossing. The anti-crossing of the levels with different radial quantum numbers provides the conditions when the electron tunneling between rings becomes possible. Results of numerical simulation for the electron transition are presented for DCQRs of different geometry. In particularly, the system of a QR with a QD located at center of this QR is considered.

Chaos and High-Energy Collisons

The investigations of the gauge boson wave packets collisions in SU(2) Higgs model are presented. The evolution of the gauge and Higgs fields is studied as a function of the amplitude and the mass ratio of $M_H/M_W$. We visualize the restoration of spontaneously broken gauge symmetry during collisions.

Thermalization and Lyapunov Exponents in the Yang-Mills-Higgs Theory

We investigate thermalization processes occurring at different time scales in the Yang-Mills-Higgs system at high temperatures. We determine the largest Lyapunov exponent associated with the gauge fields and verify its relation to the perturbatively calculated damping rate of a static gauge boson.

Wavepacket Dynamics in Yang-Mills Theory

We discuss the results of numerical simulations of colliding wavepackets in $SU(2)$ Yang--Mills theory. We investigate their behavior as a function of amplitude and momentum distribution. We find regions in our parameter space in which initial wave packets scatter into final configurations with dramatically different momentum distributions. These results constitute new classical trajectories with multiparticle boundary conditions. We explain their relevance for the calculation of scattering amplitudes in the semiclassical approximation. Finally, we give directions for future work.
