Effect of Lead Substitution on LaO0.5F0.5BiS2

We examined Lead (Pb) Substitution effect on a single crystal of a layered superconductor LaO0.5F0.5BiS2. Pb concentration dependence of the lattice constant showed slight anomaly at about 8% and 9% substitution of Pb for Bi. These samples showed the enhancement of the superconducting transition temperature and the superconducting volume fraction. Furthermore, these samples showed the anomaly in the temperature dependence of the resistivity at about 150K. These results were not observed in Pb substituted NdO0.7F0.3BiS2. Therefore, the enhancement of the superconducting properties by Pb substitution is related to the structural instability for the pale perturbation in LaO0.5F0.5BiS2.

Enhancement of Tc in BiS2 based superconductors NdO0.7F0.3BiS2 by substitution of Pb for Bi

We succeed in enhancement of a superconducting transition temperature (Tc) for NdO0.7F0.3BiS2 single crystal by partial substitution of Pb for Bi. The Tc increases with increasing Pb concentration until 6%. The maximum Tczero is 5.6 K, which is the highest value among BiS2 based superconductors synthesized under an ambient pressure. Pb substitution for Bi induces lattice shrinkage along the c axis. These results reflect that superconductivity in this system is responsive to the lattice strain.

Charge Generation in the Oscillating Background

The preheating after the inflation, which can be interpreted as particle creation in the oscillating inflaton background, provides a state far from thermal equilibrium. We extend the field theoretical treatment of the preheating by Linde et al. to the case of multicomponent complex scalars to show that some charges are created in this process, if C and CP are violated. A new possibility of baryogenesis based on this mechanism is also discussed.

Spontaneous CP Violation at Finite Temperature in the MSSM

By studying the effective potential of the MSSM at finite temperature, we find that CP can be spontaneously broken in the intermediate region between the symmetric and broken phases separated by the bubble wall created at the phase transition. If CP is violated in this manner, there could be a bubble wall connecting CP conserving vacua and violating CP halfway, which would result in sufficient baryon asymmetry of the universe.

Spontaneous CP Violation at Finite Temperature in the MSSM

By studying the effective potential of the MSSM at finite temperature, we find that CP can be spontaneously broken in the intermediate region between the symmetric and broken phases separated by the bubble wall created at the phase transition. This type of CP violation is necessary to have a bubble wall profile connecting CP conserving vacua, while violating CP halfway and generating sufficient baryon number without contradiction to the experimantal bounds on CP violations. Several conditions on the parameters in the MSSM are found for CP to be broken in this manner.

CP Violating Bubble Wall and Electroweak Baryogenesis

The electroweak baryogenesis depends on the profile of the CP-violating bubble wall created at the first order phase transition. We attempt to determine it by solving the coupled equations of motion for the moduli and phases of the two Higgs doublets at the transition temperature. A variety of CP-violating bubble walls are classified by boundary conditions. We point out that a sufficiently small explicit CP violation gives nonperturbative effects to yield the baryon asymmetry of the universe.

Profile of the Electroweak Bubble Wall

We study the CP-violating bubble wall by solving the coupled equations of motion derived from the two-Higgs-doublet model for the moduli $ρ_i$ and phases $θ_ i$ of the two scalars $(i=1,2)$ at the transition temperature. We find a solution that the CP-violating phase $θ\equivθ_1-θ_2$ connecting the CP-conserving vacua strongly violates CP in the intermediate region while the moduli largely deviate from the kink shape there. We estimate the chiral charge flux through the wall surface, which may be efficient enough to produce the baryon asymmetry by the sphaleron process.

Numerical Approach to CP-Violating Dirac Equation

We propose a new method to evaluate the chiral charge flux, which is converted into baryon number in the framework of the charge transport scenario of electroweak baryogenesis. By the new method, one can calculate the flux in the background of any type of bubble wall with any desired accuracy.

CP-Violating Profile of the Electroweak Bubble Wall

In any scenario of the electroweak baryogenesis, the profile of the CP violating bubble wall, created at the first-order phase transition, plays an essential role. We attempt to determine it by solving the equations of motion for the scalars in the two-Higgs-doublet model at the transition temperature. According to the parameters in the potential, we found three solutions. Two of them smoothly connect the CP-violating broken phase and the symmetric phase, while the other connects CP-conserving vacua but violates CP in the intermediate region. We also estimate the chiral charge flux, which will be turned into the baryon density in the symmetric phase by the sphaleron process.

Chiral Charge Flux and Electroweak Baryogenesis

By treating CP-violating interaction of the electroweak bubble wall as a perturbative term, chiral charge flux through the bubble wall is estimated. It is found that the absolute value of the flux $F_Q$ has a sharp peak at $m_0 \sim a \sim T$ with $F_Q/(u T^3) \sim 10^{-3}\, (Q_L-Q_R)\,Δθ$. Here $m_0$ is the fermion mass, $1/a$ is the wall thickness, $T$ is the temperature at which the bubbles are growing, $u$ is the wall velocity, $Q_{L(R)}$ is the chiral charge of the relevant left(right)-handed fermion and $Δθ$ is the measure of CP violation.

Fermion Scattering off a CP-Violating Electroweak BubbleWall II

By treating CP-violating interaction as a perturbative term, we solved in a previous paper the Dirac equation in the background of electroweak bubble wall, and obtained the transmission and reflection coefficients for a chiral fermion incident from the symmetric-phase region. We give the transmission and reflection coefficients under the other boundary condition, that is, the case of the fermion incident from the broken-phase region. There hold the respective sets of unitarity relations and also reciprocity relations among them. These relations enable us to obtain a simple form of quantum-number flux through the bubble wall, which is the first order quantity of the CP violation. A factor in the integrand of the flux, which originates from the CP violation, is very sensitive to the functional form of the CP-violating phase. The absolute value of this factor is found to decrease as $m_0/a$ increases for $m_0/a {}~\roughly{>}~1$, where $1/a$ is the wall thickness and $m_0$ the fermion mass near the critical temperature.

Fermion Scattering off Electroweak Bubble Wall and Baryogenesis

By treating CP-violating interaction as a perturbative term, we solve the Dirac equation in the background of electroweak bubble wall (the distorted wave Born approximation). We obtain the transmission and reflection coefficients for a chiral fermion incident from the symmetric-phase region and for the one from the broken-phase region respectively. There hold the respective sets of unitarity relations and also reciprocity relations among them. These relations enable us to rigorously derive quantum-number flux through the bubble wall, which is the first order quantity of the CP violation. The flux is found to be negligible for a thick wall such that $m_0/a\gsim 2$, where $1/a$ is the wall thickness and $m_0$ is the fermion mass.

Fermion Scattering off CP-Violating Electroweak Bubble Wall

A general prescription to solve the Dirac equation in the presence of CP-violating electroweak bubble wall is presented. The profile of the bubble wall is not specified except that the wall height is $m_0$ and zero deep in the broken- and the symmetric-phase regions, respectively, where $m_0$ is a fermion mass given by the Higgs-vacuum-expectation value and the Yukawa coupling. The CP-violating effects are evaluated by regarding CP-violating part of the bubble wall as a perturbation to CP-conserving solutions. The basic quantity, $R_{R\rightarrow L}-\bar R_{R\rightarrow L}$, which would contribute to the cosmological baryon asymmetry, is estimated for some typical profiles of the wall, where $R_{R\rightarrow L}$($\bar R_{R\rightarrow L}$) is the reflection coefficient of right-handed chiral fermion (anti-fermion).

Scattering with Baryon Number Violation -- The Case of Higgs Particle Production --

\noindent A formalism based on path-integral expression of time-evolution operator during tunneling at a finite energy proposed by the authors is applied to $SU(2)$ gauge-Higgs system to produce Higgs particles with $ΔB=1$. Instead of starting from instanton tunneling at the zero energy, a classical bounce solution giving sphaleron (instanton) action at high (low) energies is used as the tunneling configuration. Fourier transform of the bounce configuration in coherent state expression at the entrance and exit of the tunneling plays an important role. Numerical results at various energies for $M_H/M_W=1 \sim 2 $ are given. Though the cross section with $ΔB=1$ results from a severe cancellation of several large quantities in the leading order as occured in the instanton calculus, it seems unlikely that the cross section grows as largely as to reach unitarity bound at energies $E \leq E_{sph}$. It is pointed out that the actual value $g^2=0.418$ of the $SU(2)$ gauge coupling constant may be too large to take the weak coupling limit.}
