Correlation of Horizons and Black Hole Thermodynamics

For black holes with more than one horizon, the existence of a global temperature is not fully understood. This can affect the thermodynamics of these black holes to be unclear. In this paper, using the method of quantum tunneling, we find a global temperature for asymptotically AdS_3 multi-horizon black holes appeared in three dimensional quasitopological gravities. We also find a global temperature for the asymptotically warped AdS3 black holes. In all of the cases the global temperature differs from the conventional Hawking temperature

On the first law of holographic complexity

In this paper, we examine the proposed first law of holographic complexity through studying different perturbations around various spacetime backgrounds. We present a general expression for the variation of the holographic complexity on arbitrary backgrounds by an explicit covariant computation. Interestingly, the general expression can be written as a function of gravitational conserved charges reminiscent of the first law of thermodynamics.

More on Complexity in Finite Cut Off Geometry

It has been recently proposed that late time behavior of holographic complexity in a uncharged black brane solution of Einstein-Hilbert theory with boundary cut off is consistent with Lloyd's bound if we have a cut off behind the horizon. Interestingly, the value of this new cut off is fixed by the boundary cut off. In this paper, we extend this analysis to the charged black holes. Concretely, we find the value of this new cut off for charged small black hole solutions of Einstein-Hilbert-Maxwell theory, in which the proposed bound on the complexification is saturated. We also explore this new cut off in Gauss-Bonnet-Maxwell theory.

Charged scalar quasi-normal modes for higher-dimensional Born-Infeld dilatonic black holes with Lifshitz scaling

We study quasi-normal modes for a higher dimensional black hole with Lifshitz scaling, as these quasi-normal modes can be used to test Lifshitz models with large extra dimensions. Furthermore, as the effective Planck scale is brought down in many models with large extra dimensions, we study these quasi-normal modes for a UV completion action. Thus, we analyze quasi-normal modes for higher dimensional dilaton-Lifshitz black hole solutions coupled to a non-linear Born-Infeld action. We will analyze the charged perturbations for such a black hole solution. We will first analyze the general conditions for stability analytically, for a positive potential. Then, we analyze this system for a charged perturbation as well as negative potential, using the asymptotic iteration method for quasi-normal modes. Thus, we analyze the behavior of these modes numerically.

Stephani Cosmology: Entropically Viable But Observationally Challenged

Inhomogeneous cosmological models such as the Stephani universes could, in principle, provide an explanation for the observed accelerated expansion of the Universe. Working with a concrete, popular model of the Stephani cosmology -- the Stephani-Dabrowski model, we found that it is entropically viable. We also comment on the energy conditions and the two-sheeted geometry of the spacetime. However, similar to the LTB models, despite satisfying the holographic principle, Stephani cosmology has difficulty satisfying all the constraints from observations.

Boosted Kaluza- Klein magnetic monopole

We consider a Kaluza-Klein vacuum solution which is closely related to the Gross-Perry-Sorkin (GPS) magnetic monopole. The solution can be obtained from the Euclidean Taub-NUT solution with an extra compact fifth spatial dimension within the formalism of Kaluza-Klein reduction. We study its physical properties as appearing in $(3+1)$ spacetime dimensions, which turns out to be a static magnetic monopole. We then boost the GPS magnetic monopole along the extra dimension, and perform the Kaluza-Klein reduction. The resulting four-dimensional spacetime is a rotating stationary system, with both electric and magnetic fields. In fact, after the boost the magnetic monopole turns into a string connected to a dyon.

Boosted Cylindrical Magnetized Kaluza-Klein Wormhole

In this work, we consider a vacuum solution of Kaluza-Klein theory with cylindrical symmetry. We investigate the physical properties of the solution as viewed in four dimensional spacetime, which turns out to be a stationary, cylindrical wormhole supported by a scalar field and a magnetic field oriented along the wormhole. We then apply a boost to the five dimensional solution along the extra dimension, and perform the Kaluza-Klein reduction. As a result, we show that the new solution is still a wormhole with a radial electric field and a magnetic field stretched along the wormhole throat.

Vacuum $ f(R)$ thick brane solution with a Gaussian warp function

This work deals with $f(R)$ modified gravity in five dimensional space-time. The Gaussian thick brane is shown to be an exact solution in the frame work of $f(R)$ gravity in five dimensions with a bulk cosmological constant. Response of the brane to gravitational fluctuations and concordance with the Starobinsky model is addressed. It is shown that the matter which supports the Starobinsky $f(R)$ solution with the background geometry being flat FLRW with a Gaussian warp function, behaves like a radiation dominated era of universe, gradually changing to a dark energy dominated era.

From Taub-NUT to Kaluza-Klein magnetic monopole

We present a Kaluza-Klien vacuum solution which closely resembles the Taub-NUT magnetic monopole and we investigate its physical properties as viewed from four space-time dimensions. We show that the Taub-NUT Kaluza-Klein vacuum solution in five dimensions is a static magnetic monopole. We find that the four dimensional matter properties do not obey the equation of state of radiation and there is no event horizon. A comparison with the available magnetic monopole solutions and the issue of vanishing and negative mass are discussed.

Kaluza-Klein Magnetized Cylindrical Wormhole and its Gravitational Lensing

A new exact vacuum solution in five dimensions, which describes a magnetized cylindrical wormhole in $3+1$ dimensions is presented. The magnetic field lines are stretched along the wormhole throat and are concentrated near to it. We study the motion of neutral and charged test particles under the influence of the magnetized wormhole. The effective potential for a neutral test particle around and across the magnetized wormhole has a repulsive character. The gravitational lensing for the magnetized wormhole for various lens parameters are calculated and compared. The total magnetic flux on either side of the wormhole is obtained. We present analytic expressions which show regions in which the null energy condition is violated.

Exact Anisotropic Solutions of the Generalized TOV Equation

We explore gravitating relativistic spheres composed of an anisotropic, barotropic uid. We assume a bi-polytropic equation of state which has a linear and a power-law terms. The generalized Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equation which describes the hydrostatic equilibrium is obtained. The full system of equations are solved for solutions which are regular at the origin and asymptotically flat. Conditions for the appearance of horizon and a basic treatment of stability are also discussed.
