Development and Quality Control of PMT Modules for the Large-Sized Telescopes of the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory

The camera of the Large-Sized Telescopes (LSTs) of the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO) consists of 1855 pixels that are grouped into 265 high-performance photomultiplier tube (PMT) modules. Each module comprises a seven-light-guide plate, seven PMT units, a slow control board, and a readout board with a trigger board. %In this paper we describe The requirements for the PMT modules include various aspects, such as photon detection efficiency, dynamic range, buffer depth, and test pulse functionality. We have developed a high-performance PMT module that fulfills all these requirements. Mass-production and quality control (QC) of modules for all four LSTs of the northern CTAO have been completed. Here we report on the technical details of each element of the module and its performance, together with the methods and results of QC measurements.

Discretization of Camassa-Holm peakon equation using orthogonal polynomials and matrix $LR$ transformations

Discrete integrable systems are closely related to orthogonal polynomials and isospectral matrix transformations. In this paper, we use these relationships to propose a nonautonomous time-discretization of the Camassa-Holm (CH) peakon equation, which describes the motion of peakon waves, which are soliton waves with sharp peaks. We then validate our time-discretization, and clarify its asymptotic behavior as the discrete-time goes to infinity. We present numerical examples to demonstrate that the proposed discrete equation captures peakon wave motions.

Blazar Variability and Evolution in the GeV Regime

One of the most important problem of the blazar astrophysics is to understand the physical origin of the blazar sequence. In this study, we focus on the GeV gamma-ray variability of blazars and evolution perspective we search the relation between the redshift and the variability amplitude of blazars for each blazar subclass. We analyzed the Fermi-LAT data of the TeV blazars and the bright AGNs (flux $\geq$ 4$\times10^{-9}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$) selected from the 2LAC (the 2nd LAT AGN catalog) data base. As a result, we found a hint of the correlation between the redshift and the variability amplitude in the FSRQs. Furthermore the BL Lacs which have relatively lower peak frequency of the synchrotron radiation and relatively lower redshift, have a tendency to have a smaller variability amplitude.
