Development of the Charge Particle Detector Based on CVD - Diamond

High radiation hardness, chemical resistance, high temperature operation capabilities stimulate a growing interest to use diamond materials as detectors of ionizing radiation. Samples of CVD-diamond materials in sizes 12 square mm and 4 square mm with thickness from 50 microns up to 500 microns have been grown in INR RAS using a DC glow discharge in a mixture of gases CH4/H2 on molybdenum substrates.

Rescaling of Nuclear Structure Functions

It is shown that nucleonic structure functions are $x-$ and $Q^{2}-$rescaled in nuclei. The $x-$rescaling accounts for nuclear effects in the case of exact scaling, while the $Q^{2}-$rescaling is responsible for a corresponding modification of quantum corrections. This result is obtained in the leading order for all flavour combinations and connects the two known models for the EMC-effect. Electroproduction and gluonic nuclear structure functions are calculated.

NUCLEAR SUPPRESSION OF HADROPRODUCTION

We demonstrate that the main part of the observed nuclear suppression of dilepton and charmonium production, especially the x-dependence of the suppression, can be explained by the absorption of fast initial partons. We assume the absorption to be x1-dependent and determine the empirical form of this dependence. Several reactions at different energies are described with the same parametrization of the absorption cross section. The factorization theorem constraints and some alternative models are discussed. The obtained description of data allows to make conclusions about the origin of nuclear effects in hadro- and electroproduction. In particular, it is concluded that the parton recombination and the excess pion contribution are unimportant in nuclei and an indication of excess gluons at $x_{2}\sim 0.1$ is observed.

Evidence for excess pions in nuclei

We analize two reactions: the electroproduction at small x and the Drell-Yan production by protons on nuclei. We show that nuclear shadowing in electroproduction is larger if the virtuality of inter- mediate hadrons is properly taken into account. In the Drell-Yan production, initial state interactions of fast partons are included. With this input, the excess pion contribution improves the description of data for both reactions.

Suppression of Hadroproduction in Nuclei

We argue that nuclei are not transparent for fast projectile partons. Color transparency is effective for final state interactions in heavy particle production, though nuclear filtering of initial partons can reduce the cross sections. We show that short-ranged initial state interactions, which have been neglected so far, can be important in hadroproduction on nuclei. With the present scenario of hadroproduction a qualitative description of data can be obtained.

Light front dynamics and the binding correction

It is shown that the nuclear binding correction in deep inelastic lepton scattering is essentially the same in light front and instant form representations. Some contradicting papers are discussed.
