Study of the proccess $e^+e^-\to π^+π^-π^0π^0η$ in the c.m. energy range 1.6--2.0 GeV with the CMD-3 detector

The cross section of the process $e^+e^- \to π^+π^-π^0π^0η$ has been measured using a data sample with the integrated luminosity of 372 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider. 6300$\pm$145 signal events have been selected in the center-of-mass energy range 1.6--2.0 GeV. The total systematic uncertainty of the cross section is about 10\%. The production dynamics is dominated by the $ω(782)π^0η$ final state with a possible small contribution of the $a_0(980)$ resonance in the $π^0η$ combination. We also observe a presence of the $ρ(770)^{\pm}$ resonance signal in the $π^{\pm}π^0$ invariant mass distribution.

Neutral kaon mass measurement with the CMD-3 derector at VEPP-2000

Using more than 600 thousand $K_{S}^{0}\toπ^{+}π^{-}$ decays from the $e^{+}e^{-}\toϕ(1020)\to K_{S}^{0}K_{L}^{0}$ reaction, the neutral kaon mass has been measured with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 collider. Using the beam energies control by the back-scattering laser light photons, and a calibration to the world average $ϕ$-meson mass, the neutral kaon mass is determind to be m($K^0$) = 497.587 $\pm$ 0.004(stat.) $\pm$ 0.008(syst.) $\pm$ 0.009(calibr.) \mevcc, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is the uncertainty from the energy calibration.

Evidence of the $e^+ e^-\to f_1(1285)$ reaction with the CMD-3 detector at VEPP-2000

A search for the $e^+ e^-\to f_1(1285)$ reaction is performed with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 collider. Data from a scan in the center-of-mass energy range Ec.m.=1.20--1.36 GeV with 109.1 pb$^{-1}$ of the integrated luminosity is used. A dedicated 51.7 pb$^{-1}$ have been collected at the $f_1(1285)$ resonance peak energy Ec.m.=1282 MeV, where $26.5 \pm 7.4$ events have been found in the $e^+ e^-\toηπ^0π^0$ reaction. No indication of the signal is observed in the scan data. We interpret the result as 4.5$σ$ evidence of the C-even resonance production in the $e^+ e^-\to f_1(1285)\toηπ^0π^0$ reaction via the two-photon interaction. The production cross section is found to be $σ(e^+ e^-\to f_1) = 0.074 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.010$ nb, and the corresponding branching fraction to the $e^+ e^-$ pair is $B(f_1(1285)\to e^+e^-) = (8.3 \pm 2.3 \pm 1.1)\times 10^{-9}$.

There and back again: Mysterious optical pulse profile behavior of the transitional millisecond pulsar PSR J1023+0038

Neutron stars in close binary systems have the potential to spin up to millisecond periods due to the accretion of matter and angular momentum from their low-mass companions. In later stages of this process, they sometimes start to swing between the accretion-powered and rotation-powered regimes, manifesting themselves as low-mass X-ray binaries and millisecond radio pulsars, respectively. Such systems are known as transitional millisecond pulsars. PSR J1023+0038 was the first one of this kind to be discovered and the first to show optical pulsations at the rotation frequency of the neutron star during a peculiar low accretion state. The optical pulse profile is characterized by a smooth double-peaked shape resembling thermal light curves of X-ray pulsars, but more likely emerging from re-emission of the pulsar wind energy by charged particles in the surrounding medium. Although the amplitudes of the peaks show strong variability, the overall structure of the pulse profile was observed to be fixed, with the optical pulsed fraction less than 1 percent. Here, we report time-resolved observation of a dramatic violation of this permanence during our high temporal resolution observations of PSR J1023+0038 with the 6-m BTA telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory. On a timescale of a few seconds the pulse profile took a single-peaked, nearly sinusoidal shape, with synchronous magnification of the pulsed fraction up to about 5 percent. After spending about 220 seconds in this new regime, accompanied by flaring activity, the system returned to its normal state. We discuss a number of possible explanations of this peculiar behavior in the context of the physics and geometry of interactions between the pulsar wind and surrounding matter. However, a complete picture is yet to be revealed.

Anomaly detection in Fink. I. Discovery, follow-up, and classification of unusual sources

Modern wide-field time-domain surveys produce alert streams whose scientific potential is often concentrated in rare and unusual events. Efficient discovery therefore requires automated pipelines to be combined with rapid expert validation and follow-up. We present the first-year performance of the anomaly-detection (AD) pipeline operating within the Fink broker on the Zwicky Transient Facility alert stream, and assess its ability to identify scientifically valid outliers and enable discovery of rare phenomena. The pipeline transforms ZTF light curves into a compact set of features and ranks alerts using an Isolation Forest model trained on archival ZTF data. Each night, the 10 most anomalous candidates are distributed to experts via Slack/Telegram and exposed through an API. We also implement an expert-feedback loop using a public Telegram bot and retrain the model using the Active Anomaly Discovery algorithm. During the first year of operations (starting from 25 January 2023), the AD pipeline identified multiple high-interest sources and triggered dedicated photometric and spectroscopic follow-up. We report the discovery and multi-instrument (11-m SALT telescope, 2.5-m CMO telescope, 0.6-m ASA RC600, 0.25-m FRAM-ORM) follow-up of the rare AM CVn system Fink J062452.88+020818.3 of the WZ Sge type, UX Ori-type star Fink J222324.32+744222.0 and the unusual transient with precursor SN 2023mtp. In addition, the module triggered 33 supernovae, including 30 previously unreported ones, with candidates for superluminous and hostless events. Furthermore, nine new dwarf novae were discovered. These results show that broker-level anomaly detection, coupled with rapid dissemination, expert assessment, and follow-up observations, provide an effective bridge between large-scale survey streams and domain expertise, turning anomaly scores into astrophysical insights and concrete discoveries.

SRGe J194401.8+284452 -- an X-ray Cataclysmic Variable in the Field of the Gamma-Ray Source 4FGL J1943.9+2841

SRGe J194401.8+284452 is the brightest point-like X-ray object within the position uncertainty ellipse of an unidentified $γ$-ray source 4FGL J1943.9+2841. We performed multi-wavelength spectral and photometric studies to determine its nature and possible association with the $γ$-ray source. We firmly established its optical counterpart with the Gaia based distance of about 415 pc. Our data show that the object is a cataclysmic variable with an orbital period of about 1.5 hours. SRGe J194401.8+284452 exhibits fast spontaneous transitions between the high and low luminosity states simultaneously in the optical and X-rays, remaining relatively stable between the transitions on scales of several months/years. This can be caused by an order of magnitude changes in the accretion rate. The brightness of the source is about 17 mag and 20 mag in the optical range and $5\times 10^{-12}$ and $5\times 10^{-13}$ erg/cm$^2$/s in the $0.3- 10$ keV range in the high and low states, respectively. We constrained the mass of the white dwarf ($0.3 - 0.9$ $M_\odot$) and its temperature in the low state (14750 $\pm$ 1250 K), the mass of the donor star ($\leq$ 0.08 $\pm$ 0.01 $M_ \odot$). In the low state, we detected regular optical pulsations with an amplitude of 0.2 mag and a period of 8 min. They are likely associated with the spin of the white dwarf, rather than with its non-radial pulsations. In the high state, the object demonstrates only stochastic optical brightness variations on time scales of $1 - 15$~minutes with amplitudes of $0.2 - 0.6$~mag. We conclude, that SRGe J194401.8+284452 can be classified as an intermediate polar, and its association with the $γ$-ray source is very unlikely.

Measurement of the $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-$ cross section from threshold to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector

The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-$ has been measured in the center of mass energy range from 0.32 to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000. The measurement is based on a full dataset collected below 1 GeV during three data taking seasons, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 62 pb$^{-1}$. In the dominant $ρ$-resonance region, a systematic uncertainty of 0.7% has been reached. At energies around $ϕ$-resonance the $π^+π^-$ production cross section was measured for the first time with high beam energy resolution. The forward-backward charge asymmetry in the $π^+π^-$ production has also been measured. It shows a strong deviation from the theoretical prediction based on the conventional scalar quantum electrodynamics framework, and it is in good agreement with the generalized vector-meson-dominance and dispersive-based predictions. The impact of the presented results on the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of muon is discussed.

Measurement of the pion form factor with CMD-3 detector and its implication to the hadronic contribution to muon (g-2)

The cross section of the process $e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-$ has been measured in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.32 to 1.2 GeV with the CMD-3 detector at the electron-positron collider VEPP-2000. The measurement is based on an integrated luminosity of about 88 pb$^{-1}$, of which 62 pb$^{-1}$ represent a complete dataset collected by CMD-3 at center-of-mass energies below 1 GeV. In the dominant region near the $ρ$ resonance a systematic uncertainty of 0.7% was achieved. The implications of the presented results for the evaluation of the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon are discussed.

Measurement of the branching fraction of $J/ψ\rightarrowρπ$ at KEDR

We present the study of the decay $J/ψ\rightarrow ρπ$. The results are based on of 5.2~million $J/ψ$ events collected by the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M collider. The branching fractions are measured to be $\B(J/ψ\rightarrow ρπ) = \big(2.072\pm 0.017 \pm 0.062 \big)\cdot 10^{-2}$ and $\B(J/ψ\rightarrow π^+π^-π^0) = \big(1.878 \pm 0.013 \pm 0.051 \big)\cdot 10^{-2}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Our results are more precise than the previous relative measurements.

Plasmonic lattice Kerker effect in UV-Vis spectral range

Mostly forsaken, but revived after the emergence of all-dielectric nanophotonics, the Kerker effect can be observed in a variety of nanostructures from high-index constituents with strong electric and magnetic Mie resonances. Necessary requirement for the existence of a magnetic response limits the use of generally non-magnetic conventional plasmonic nanostructures for the Kerker effect. In spite of this, we demonstrate here for the first time the emergence of the lattice Kerker effect in regular plasmonic Al nanostructures. Collective lattice oscillations emerging from delicate interplay between Rayleigh anomalies and localized surface plasmon resonances both of electric and magnetic dipoles, and electric and magnetic quadrupoles result in suppression of the backscattering in a broad spectral range. Variation of geometrical parameters of Al arrays allows for tailoring lattice Kerker effect throughout UV and visible wavelength ranges, which is close to impossible to achieve using other plasmonic or all-dielectric materials. It is argued that our results set the ground for wide ramifications in the plasmonics and further application of the Kerker effect.

Charged particle identification with the liquid xenon calorimeter of the CMD-3 detector

The paper describes a method of the charged particle identification, developed for the \mbox{CMD-3} detector, installed at the VEPP-2000 $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The method is based on the application of the boosted decision trees classifiers, trained for the optimal separation of electrons, muons, pions and kaons in the momentum range from 100 to $1200~{\rm MeV}/c$. The input variables for the classifiers are linear combinations of the energy depositions of charged particles in 12 layers of the liquid xenon calorimeter of the \mbox{CMD-3}. The event samples for training of the classifiers are taken from the simulation. Various issues of the detector response tuning in simulation and calibration of the calorimeter strip channels are considered. Application of the method is illustrated by the examples of separation of the $e^+e^-(γ)$ and $π^+π^-(γ)$ final states and of selection of the $K^+K^-$ final state at high energies.

Measurement of the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-}$ cross section with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 collider

The cross section of the process $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-}$ is measured using the data collected with the CMD-$3$ detector at the VEPP-$2000$ collider in the center-of-mass energy range from $1.1$ to $2.0$ GeV. The decay mode $η\rightarrowγγ$ is used for $η$ meson reconstruction in the data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $78.3$ pb$^{-1}$. The energy dependence of the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-}$ cross section is fitted within the framework of vector meson dominance in order to extract the $Γ(ρ(1450)\rightarrow{^{+}e^{-}})\mathcal{B}(ρ(1450)\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-})$ and the $Γ(ρ(1700)\rightarrow{e^{+}e^{-}})\mathcal{B}(ρ(1700)\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-})$ products. Based on conservation of vector current, the analysed data are used to test the relationship between the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-}$ cross section and the spectral function in $τ^-\rightarrowηπ^-π^0ν_τ$ decay. The $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrowηπ^{+}π^{-}$ cross section measured with the CMD-$3$ detector is in good agreement with the previous measurements.

Study of the process $e^+e^-{\to}K^+K^-η$ with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 collider

The process $e^+e^-{\to}K^+K^-η$ has been studied in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.59 to 2.007\,GeV using the data sample of 59.5 pb$^{-1}$, collected with the CMD-3 detector at the VEPP-2000 $e^+e^-$ collider in 2011, 2012 and 2017. The $K^+K^-η$ final state is found to be dominated by the contribution of the $ϕ(1020)η$ intermediate state. The cross section of the process $e^+e^-{\to}ϕ(1020)η$ has been measured with a systematic uncertainty of 5.1$\%$ on the base of 3009 $\pm$ 67 selected events. The obtained cross section has been used to calculate the contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon: $a_μ^{ϕη}(E<1.8\, {\rm GeV})=(0.321 \pm 0.015_{\rm stat} \pm 0.016_{\rm syst}) \times 10^{-10}$, $a_μ^{ϕη}(E<2.0\, {\rm GeV})=(0.440 \pm 0.015_{\rm stat} \pm 0.022_{\rm syst}) \times 10^{-10}$. From the cross section approximation the $ϕ(1680)$ meson parameters have been determined with better statistical precision, than in previous studies.

Ultra-narrowband selective tunable filters for visible and infrared wavelength ranges

The interaction of non-monochromatic radiation with two types of arrays comprising both plasmonic and dielectric nanoparticles has been studied in detail. We have shown that dielectric nanoparticle arrays provide a complete selective reflection of an incident plane wave within a narrow spectral line of collective lattice resonance with a Q-factor of $10^3$ or larger, whereas plasmonic refractory TiN and chemically stable Au nanoparticle arrays demonstrated high-Q resonances with moderate reflectivity. The spectral position of these resonance lines is determined by the lattice period, as well as the size, shape and material composition of the particles. Moreover, the arrays, with fixed dimensional parameters make it possible to fine-tune the position of a selected resonant spectral line by tilting the array relative to the direction of the incident radiation. These effects provide possibilities for engineering of novel selective tunable optical high-Q filters in a wide range of wavelengths: from visible to middle IR. Several highly refractive dielectric nanoparticle materials with low absorption are proposed for various spectral ranges, such as LiNbO$_3$, TiO$_2$, GaAs, Si, and Ge.

Precise measurement of $R_{\text{uds}}$ and $R$ between 1.84 and 3.72 GeV at the KEDR detector

The present work continues a series of the KEDR measurements of the $R$ value that started in 2010 at the VEPP-4M $e^+e^-$ collider. By combining new data with our previous results in this energy range we measured the values of $R_{\text{uds}}$ and $R$ at nine center-of-mass energies between 3.08 and 3.72 GeV. The total accuracy is about or better than $2.6\%$ at most of energy points with a systematic uncertainty of about $1.9\%$. Together with the previous precise $R$ measurement at KEDR in the energy range 1.84-3.05 GeV, it constitutes the most detailed high-precision $R$ measurement near the charmonium production threshold.

Measurement of $Γ_{ee}\times\mathcal{B}_{μμ}$ for $ψ(2S)$ meson

The product of the electronic width of the $ψ(2S)$ meson and the branching fraction of its decay to the muon pair was measured in the $e^{+}e^{-} \to ψ(2S) \to μ^{+}μ^{-}$ process using nine data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 6.5 pb$^{-1}$ collected with the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M electron-positron collider: \[ Γ_{ee}\times\mathcal{B}_{μμ} = 19.3 \pm 0.3 \pm 0.5 ~\text{eV}. \] Adding the previous KEDR results on hadronic and leptonic channels, the values of the $ψ(2S)$ electronic width were obtained under two assumptions: either with the assumption of lepton universality \[ Γ_{ee} = 2.279 \pm 0.015 \pm 0.042 ~\text{keV} \] or without it, summing up hadronic and three independent leptonic channels: \[ Γ_{ee} = 2.282 \pm 0.015 \pm 0.042 ~\text{keV}. \]

Measurement of $Γ_{ee}(J/ψ)$ with KEDR detector

The product of the electronic width of the $J/ψ$ meson and the branching fractions of its decay to hadrons and electrons has been measured using the KEDR detector at the VEPP-4M $e^+e^-$ collider. The obtained values are: $Γ_{ee}(J/ψ) = 5.550 \pm 0.056 \pm 0.089 \, \text{keV}, $ $Γ_{ee}(J/ψ) \cdot \mathcal{B}_\text{hadrons}(J/ψ) = 4.884 \pm 0.048 \pm 0.078 \, \text{keV}, $ $Γ_{ee}(J/ψ) \cdot \mathcal{B}_{ee}(J/ψ) = 0.3331 \pm 0.0066 \pm 0.0040 \, \text{keV}.$ The uncertainties shown are statistical and systematic, respectively. Using the result presented and the world-average value of the electronic branching fraction, one obtains the total width of the $J/ψ$ meson: $Γ= 92.94 \pm 1.83 \, \text{keV}.$ These results are consistent with the previous experiments.
