Quasimonophobic graphs and degree spectral sequences in discrete cubical homology

We introduce the degree filtration on the discrete cubical chain complex of a graph, defined in terms of the maximal injective dimension of the facets of singular $n$-cubes, and study the degree spectral sequence which arises from this filtration. This spectral sequence interpolates between the discrete cubical homology of a graph $H_n(G)$ and the injective homology $H_n^{inj}(G)$, a variant of the discrete cubical homology based on injective singular cubes. Building on the work of Greene and the first author, we introduce the combinatorial condition of quasimonophobicity on graphs, and show quasimonophobicity implies both the vanishing of the degree spectral sequence in certain bidegrees, and implies $H_n^{inj}(G)$ is isomorphic to the homology of the CW complex obtained by ``filling in'' subcubes of the graph. These results are applied to compute $H_2(G_n^{sph})$ for the Greene sphere graphs $G^{sph}_n$.

Computability of digital cubical singular homology of $c_1$-digital images

Discrete cubical homology arose as the homology theory associated with discrete cubical homotopy theory. Despite the combinatorial nature of this homology, its computation has posed a significant challenge to the researchers in the field. This paper focuses on determining the discrete cubical homology of $c_1$-digital images, which are subgraphs of the integer lattice. We compare the discrete cubical homology of $c_1$-digital images with the computationally simpler $c_1$-cubical homology as a possible route to simplifying these computations. This comparison is motivated by the classical equivalence between simplicial and singular homology theories, but the construction and proof of the chain map was found to be unexpectedly difficult. Furthermore, via the chain map constructed in this work, the $c_1$-homology, developed by the second author, is shown to be functorial and homotopy-type invariant.

Digital Hurewicz Theorem and Digital Homology Theory

In this paper, we develop homology groups for digital images based on cubical singular homology theory for topological spaces. Using this homology, we present digital Hurewicz theorem for the fundamental group of digital images. We also show that the homology functors developed in this paper satisfy properties that resemble the Eilenberg-Steenrod axioms of homology theory, in particular, the homotopy and the excision axioms. We finally define axioms of digital homology theory.
