Every PPT channel has finite entanglement breaking index

We prove that every PPT linear map has finite entanglement breaking index, thereby establishing the eventual entanglement breaking property of PPT channels in full generality. Furthermore, by utilizing completely positive maps with low entanglement dimensionality, we show that a large family of PPT maps, which strictly contains the class of 2-superpositive maps, has entanglement breaking index bounded above by 3, uniformly in the dimension. In particular, these results provide evidence that the PPT-cubed conjecture may hold in full generality.

A solution to 2-copy distillability of Werner states

Entanglement distillation is a fundamental task in quantum information theory. In this work, we prove that Werner states in arbitrary dimension are 2-copy distillable if and only if they are 1-copy distillable. This answers the longstanding open question of the 2-copy distillability of Werner states. This is an important step on determining whether every non-positive partial transpose (NPT) state is distillable, which remains one of the central open problems in the field of entanglement distillation.

$k$-Positivity and high-dimensional bound entanglement under symplectic group symmetries

We investigate the structure of $k$-positivity and Schmidt numbers for classes of linear maps and bipartite quantum states exhibiting symplectic group symmetries. Specifically, we consider (1) linear maps on $M_d(\mathbb{C})$ which are covariant under conjugation by unitary symplectic matrices $S$, and (2) $d\otimes d$ bipartite states which are invariant under $S\otimes S$ or $S\otimes \overline{S}$ actions, each parametrized by two real variables. We provide a complete characterization of all $k$-positivity and decomposability conditions for these maps and explicitly compute the Schmidt numbers for the corresponding bipartite states. In particular, our analysis yields a broad class of PPT states with Schmidt number $d/2$ and the first explicit constructions of (optimal) $k$-positive indecomposable linear maps for arbitrary $k=1,\ldots, d/2-1$, achieving the best-known bounds. Overall, our results offer a natural and analytically tractable framework in which both strong forms of positive indecomposability and high degrees of PPT entanglement can be studied systematically. We present two further applications of symplectic group symmetries. First, we show that the PPT-squared conjecture holds within the class of PPT linear maps that are either symplectic-covariant or conjugate-symplectic-covariant. Second, we resolve a conjecture of Pal and Vertesi concerning the optimal lower bound of the Sindici-Piani semidefinite program for PPT entanglement.

Positive maps and extendibility hierarchies from copositive matrices

This work introduces and systematically studies a new convex cone of PCOP (pairwise copositive). We establish that this cone is dual to the cone of PCP (pairwise completely positive) and, critically, provides a complete characterization for the positivity of the broad class of covariant maps. We provide a way to lift matrices from the cone of COP to PCOP, thereby creating a powerful bridge between the theory of copositive forms and the positive maps. We develop an analogous framework for decomposable maps, introducing the cone PDEC. As a primary application of this framework, we define a novel family of linear maps $Φ_t^G$ parameterized by a graph $G$ and a real parameter $t$. We derive exact thresholds on $t$ that determine when these maps are positive or decomposable, linking these properties to fundamental graph-theoretic parameters. This construction yields vast new families of positive indecomposable maps, for which we provide explicit examples derived from infinite classes of graphs, most notably rank 3 strongly regular graphs such as Paley graphs. On the dual side, we investigate the entanglement properties of large classes of (symmetric) states. We prove that the SOS hierarchies used in polynomial optimization to approximate the cone of copositive matrices correspond precisely to dual cones of witnesses for different levels of the PPT bosonic extendibility hierarchy}-. In the setting of the DPS hierarchy for separability, we construct a large family of optimal entanglement witnesses that are not certifiable by any level of the PPT bosonic extendibility hierarchy, answering a long standing open question from [DPS04]. Leveraging the duality, we also provide an explicit construction of (mixture of) bipartite Dicke states that are simultaneously entangled and $K_r$-PPT bosonic extendible for any desired hierarchy level $r \geq 2$ and local dimension $n \geq 5$.

DART: Disease-aware Image-Text Alignment and Self-correcting Re-alignment for Trustworthy Radiology Report Generation

The automatic generation of radiology reports has emerged as a promising solution to reduce a time-consuming task and accurately capture critical disease-relevant findings in X-ray images. Previous approaches for radiology report generation have shown impressive performance. However, there remains significant potential to improve accuracy by ensuring that retrieved reports contain disease-relevant findings similar to those in the X-ray images and by refining generated reports. In this study, we propose a Disease-aware image-text Alignment and self-correcting Re-alignment for Trustworthy radiology report generation (DART) framework. In the first stage, we generate initial reports based on image-to-text retrieval with disease-matching, embedding both images and texts in a shared embedding space through contrastive learning. This approach ensures the retrieval of reports with similar disease-relevant findings that closely align with the input X-ray images. In the second stage, we further enhance the initial reports by introducing a self-correction module that re-aligns them with the X-ray images. Our proposed framework achieves state-of-the-art results on two widely used benchmarks, surpassing previous approaches in both report generation and clinical efficacy metrics, thereby enhancing the trustworthiness of radiology reports.

Tensor free probability theory: asymptotic tensor freeness and central limit theorem

Voiculescu's notion of asymptotic free independence applies to a wide range of random matrices, including those that are independent and unitarily invariant. In this work, we generalize this notion by considering random matrices with a tensor product structure that are invariant under the action of local unitary matrices. Assuming the existence of the \emph{tensor distribution} limit described by tuples of permutations, we show that an independent family of local unitary invariant random matrices satisfies asymptotically a novel form of freeness, which we term \emph{tensor freeness}. It can be defined via the vanishing of mixed \emph{tensor free cumulants}, allowing the joint tensor distribution of tensor free elements to be described in terms of that of individual elements. We present several applications of these results in the context of random matrices with a tensor product structure, such as partial transpositions of (local) unitarily invariant random matrices and tensor embeddings of random matrices. Furthermore, we propose a tensor free version of the central limit theorem, which extends and recovers several previous results for tensor products of free variables.

Random covariant quantum channels

The group symmetries inherent in quantum channels often make them tractable and applicable to various problems in quantum information theory. In this paper, we introduce natural probability distributions for covariant quantum channels. Specifically, this is achieved through the application of ``twirling operations'' on random quantum channels derived from the Stinespring representation that use Haar-distributed random isometries. We explore various types of group symmetries, including unitary and orthogonal covariance, hyperoctahedral covariance, diagonal orthogonal covariance (DOC), and analyze their properties related to quantum entanglement based on the model parameters. In particular, we discuss the threshold phenomenon for positive partial transpose and entanglement breaking properties, comparing thresholds among different classes of random covariant channels. Finally, we contribute to the PPT$^2$ conjecture by showing that the composition between two random DOC channels is generically entanglement breaking.

$k$-positivity and Schmidt number under orthogonal group symmetries

In this paper, we study $k$-positivity and Schmidt number under standard orthogonal group symmetries. The Schmidt number is a natural quantification of entanglement in quantum information theory. First of all, we exhibit a complete characterization of all orthogonally covariant $k$-positive maps. This generalizes earlier results in [Tom85]. Furthermore, we optimize duality relations between $k$-positivity and Schmidt numbers under compact group symmetries. This new framework enables us to efficiently compute the Schmidt numbers of all orthogonally invariant quantum states.

A universal framework for entanglement detection under group symmetry

One of the most fundamental questions in quantum information theory is PPT-entanglement of quantum states, which is an NP-hard problem in general. In this paper, however, we prove that all PPT $(\overlineπ_A\otimes π_B)$-invariant quantum states are separable if and only if all extremal unital positive $(π_B,π_A)$-covariant maps are decomposable where $π_A,π_B$ are unitary representations of a compact group and $π_A$ is irreducible. Moreover, an extremal unital positive $(π_B,π_A)$-covariant map $\mathcal{L}$ is decomposable if and only if $\mathcal{L}$ is completely positive or completely copositive. We then apply these results to prove that all PPT quantum channels of the form $$Φ(ρ)=a\frac{\text{Tr}(ρ)}{d}\text{Id}_d+ bρ+cρ^T+(1-a-b-c)\text{diag}(ρ)$$ are entanglement-breaking, and that all A-BC PPT $(U\otimes \overline{U}\otimes U)$-invariant tripartite quantum states are A-BC separable. The former strengthens some conclusions in [VW01,KMS20], and the latter provides a strong contrast to the fact that there exist PPT-entangled $(U\otimes U\otimes U)$-invariant tripartite Werner states [EW01] and resolves some open questions raised in [COS18].

Gaussian quantum information over general quantum kinematical systems I: Gaussian states

We develop a theory of Gaussian states over general quantum kinematical systems with finitely many degrees of freedom. The underlying phase space is described by a locally compact abelian (LCA) group $G$ with a symplectic structure determined by a 2-cocycle on $G$. We use the concept of Gaussian distributions on LCA groups in the sense of Bernstein to define Gaussian states and completely characterize Gaussian states over 2-regular LCA groups of the form $G= F\times\hat{F}$ endowed with a canonical normalized 2-cocycle. This covers, in particular, the case of $n$-bosonic modes, $n$-qudit systems with odd $d\ge 3$, and $p$-adic quantum systems. Our characterization reveals a topological obstruction to Gaussian state entanglement when we decompose the quantum kinematical system into the Euclidean part and the remaining part (whose phase space admits a compact open subgroup). We then generalize the discrete Hudson theorem \cite{Gro} to the case of totally disconnected 2-regular LCA groups. We also examine angle-number systems with phase space $\mathbb{T}^n\times\mathbb{Z}^n$ and fermionic/hard-core bosonic systems with phase space $\mathbb{Z}^{2n}_2$ (which are not 2-regular), and completely characterize their Gaussian states.

Boundary integral equation method for resonances in gradient index cavities designed by conformal transformation optics

In the case of two-dimensional gradient index cavities designed by the conformal transformation optics, we propose a boundary integral equation method for the calculation of resonant mode functions by employing a fictitious space which is reciprocally equivalent to the physical space. Using the Green's function of the interior region of the uniform index cavity in the fictitious space, resonant mode functions and their far-field distributions in the physical space can be obtained. As a verification, resonant modes in limaçon-shaped transformation cavities were calculated and mode patterns and far-field intensity distributions were compared with those of the same modes obtained from the finite element method.
