Optical Signatures of a Black Hole in Effective Quantum Gravity

In this article, we present an investigation of observational signatures of a black hole (BH) in effective quantum gravity (EQG), particularly gravitational weak lensing and shadow analyses with the assumption that the BH is surrounded by uniform and non-uniform plasma. First, we review the spacetime by comparing it with well-known BH spacetimes such as Schwarzschild and Reissner--Nordström BHs. Subsequently, we explore the effect of the uniform and non-uniform plasma on the BH shadow. The results indicate that shadow radii decrease under the influence of the BH charge and both uniform and non-uniform plasma parameters. In addition, we obtain theoretical constraints on the spacetime parameters using observational data from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) collaboration. Finally, we study gravitational weak lensing around the BH in EQG surrounded by uniform and non-uniform plasma. It was found that increasing the uniform plasma frequency leads to a rise in the deflection angle and vice versa for the non-uniform plasma.

Gravitational wave radiation from periodic orbits around a black hole in Einstein-Maxwell-scalar theory

In this paper, we investigate the periodic orbits around a black hole (BH) in Einstein-Maxwell-scalar (EMS) theory and the corresponding gravitational waveforms. First, we study the test particle dynamics around the BH by using the Lagrangian formalism. Using the corresponding conditions, we explore the effect of the spacetime parameters on the marginally bound orbit (MBO) and innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO). The results indicate that MBO and ISCO quantities decrease with the rise of the $β$ parameter and BH charge $Q$, and vice versa for the $γ$ parameter. Subsequently, we plot the different zoom-whirl orbits around the BH in EMS theory by finding the test particle's corresponding energy and angular momentum. Finally, the gravitational waveforms of the extreme mass ratio inspirals, which contain a supermassive BH in EMS theory and a stellar mass object, are demonstrated. It is shown that the zoom-whirl orbits shrink as the BH charge increases, and, as a result, gravitational waveforms shift towards shorter times.

Quantum-Corrected Black Holes in Higher Dimensions: From Gravitational Collapse to Remnants, WGC-Like Behavior and Accretion Signatures

We study the gravitational collapse of a homogeneous dust sphere in higher-dimensional spacetime, with the loop quantum gravity correction entered through a modified Friedmann equation. Its most striking feature is an endpoint: at a finite horizon radius the temperature vanishes and evaporation stops, leaving a remnant. Reading \(α\) as an effective charge, we find behavior reminiscent of the Weak Gravity Conjecture (WGC), although no \(U(1)\) gauge field is present in the model. Solving the degeneracy conditions with the untruncated metric function, rather than with a mass expansion that is not uniform near the endpoint, we obtain closed-form expressions for the remnant radius and mass in \(D=4,5,6,7\). The unscaled ratio \(α/M_{\text{remnant}}^2\) is constant only in four dimensions and grows as \(α^{4-D}\) elsewhere, but it carries dimension \(L^{8-2D}\), so that growth is an artifact of the units. The dimensionless combination \(\tilde{\mathcal{R}} = (α/M^2) r_0^{2D-8}\) settles instead on a finite \(α\)-independent number in every dimension, decreasing from \(27/64\) in four dimensions to \(13824/(15625π^4)\) in seven. We also deform the quantum parameter, \(α\to α+ \varepsilon\), and evaluate \(-T(\partial S/\partial \varepsilon)_M\) in the remnant limit. Because \((\partial M/\partial r)_α\) vanishes there, the fixed-entropy derivative reduces exactly to a fixed-radius one, and the resulting combination \(\mathcal{U}\) is finite in each dimension but depends on \(\varepsilon\) except for \(D=5\). What is invariant is the product \(\mathcal{R}\,\mathcal{U}\,M_{\text{remnant}} = (D-3)/2\), which we verify numerically. Lastly, we study Bondi accretion onto the quantum-corrected black hole and obtain the Eddington luminosity for each dimension.

Constraining ModMax Black Holes with EHT and GRAVITY Observations: Optical Signatures and Accretion Disk Properties

In this work, we study photon propagation and the radiative properties of a thin accretion disk around a ModMax black hole and examine the effects of the charge $Q$ (i.e. $Q^2 = Q^2_e +Q^2_m$ is the total dyonic charge, with $Q_e$ and $Q_m$ denoting the electric and magnetic charges, respectively) and the nonlinearity parameter $v$. We determine the event-horizon, photon-sphere, and shadow radii and find that increasing $Q$ decreases these radii, whereas increasing $v$ shifts them toward their Schwarzschild values. Using the EHT shadow measurements of M87$^\star$ and Sgr~A$^\star$, together with the available mass and distance measurements, we perform an MCMC analysis to constrain the ModMax parameters. The strongest upper limits are found to be $Q<0.391$ and $v<4.153$ at the 95\% credible level. We also investigate a Novikov-Thorne thin accretion disk and generate simulated disk images using backward ray tracing. The observed flux increases with $Q$, while increasing $v$ produces a slight decrease in the disk brightness. These results show how the ModMax parameters affect the black-hole shadow and thin-disk emission and provide observational constraints on $Q$ and $v$.

Magnetic reconnection in five-dimensional Kerr black hole

In this paper, we employ the Comisso-Asenjo magnetic reconnection (MR) mechanism to investigate energy extraction from a rapidly rotating five-dimensional Kerr black hole (BH) with single- and two-rotation configurations. We analyze the efficiency, phase-space structure of accelerated and decelerated plasma energies, and the extracted power as functions of the spin parameter, reconnection location, plasma magnetization, and magnetic field orientation. We show that MR significantly enhances energy extraction from a five-dimensional BH with a single rotation and that the extraction efficiency is higher in the single rotation configuration than in the two-rotation case. We also evaluate the extraction rate and compare it with the Blandford-Znajek (BZ) mechanism, showing that the extracted power can exceed that of the BZ process in the single-rotation configuration. Our analysis shows that MR can significantly improve energy extraction in five-dimensional Kerr BHs with a single rotation, making them promising candidates for powering high-energy astrophysical phenomena.

Extending the Comisso-Asenjo Energy Extraction Mechanism to Pure Lovelock Gravity

In this paper, we extend the Comisso-Asenjo magnetic reconnection (MR) mechanism to rotating black holes (BHs) in pure Lovelock/Gauss-Bonnet (GB) gravity in dimension $2N+2\leq D\leq 4N+1$ (where $N$ is the Lovelock polynomial degree of $N$th order term in the action). We perform a comprehensive analysis of the efficiency and power of extracted energy by exploring the effects of the spin parameter, plasma magnetization, magnetic field orientation, and reconnection location. Our results reveal distinctive energetic features of pure Lovelock BHs relative to their Einstein counterparts, except in the special case of $D=3N+1$, where the two theories coincide. Our results demonstrate that magnetic reconnection becomes increasingly efficient in extracting rotational energy from rapidly rotating pure Lovelock BHs with single rotation configuration as the spacetime dimension increases from $D=6$ to $9$. Furthermore, the Comisso-Asenjo MR mechanism can produce higher extraction power than the Blandford-Znajek (BZ) process in certain regions of parameter space because of its enhanced energy extraction rate. These results show that magnetic reconnection is an efficient mechanism for extracting rotational energy from rapidly rotating pure Lovelock/GB BHs, highlighting their relevance to high-energy astrophysical phenomena.

Gravitational wave signatures of magnetized Ernst black hole

We investigate gravitational wave (GW) emission from periodic timelike orbits of a test particle around a magnetized Ernst black hole and the gravitational waveforms generated by their orbital dynamics. The bound geodesics are systematically classified using the zoom-whirl representation labeled with three integers $(z,w,v)$. Gravitational waveforms are computed within a numerical framework that combines exact geodesic motion with the quadrupole approximation, which is well-suited to extreme mass-ratio inspirals (EMRIs). This analysis is particularly relevant for assessing the capability of future gravitational-wave observations to detect the effects of magnetic fields. Our results show that an intrinsic magnetic field imprints characteristic features on the GW signal, highlighting GW astronomy as a promising avenue for probing magnetized black hole spacetimes.

Gravitational Wave Signatures of Schwarzschild Black Hole in a Generalized Dehnen-Type $(1,4,γ)$ Dark Matter Halo

In this paper, we investigate timelike geodesic motion, periodic orbits, and the associated gravitational-wave signals around a Schwarzschild-like black hole (BH) embedded in a generalized Dehnen-type dark matter (DM) halo. We show that the Dehnen-type $(1,4,γ)$ DM halo profile modifies test-particle dynamics, with increasing the parameter of density profile, $γ$, leading to larger marginally bound orbit (MBO) and innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) radii and angular momenta, together with a higher ISCO energy. These findings provide further insight into the role of the DM distribution in modifying the orbital dynamics, energy, and angular momentum of timelike test particles near the BH. Furthermore, we investigate the gravitational-wave signals produced by a stellar-mass compact object moving along periodic orbits around a supermassive BH embedded in a generalized Dehnen-type DM halo. Using the numerical kludge approach, we calculate the orbital trajectories and the corresponding gravitational-wave polarizations. We find that increasing the halo parameters $γ$, $ρ_s$, and $r_s$ produces larger periodic orbits, longer orbital periods, and lower waveform amplitudes. The resulting spectra lie mainly in the millihertz frequency range, while several characteristic-strain peaks lie above the sensitivity curves of future space-based gravitational-wave detectors such as LISA, Taiji, and TianQin. These results suggest that the surrounding DM halo may leave observable imprints on extreme mass-ratio inspiral (EMRI) gravitational-wave signals.

Comisso-Asenjo Mechanism in Rotating $\mathcal{N}=2,U(1)^2$ Gauged Supergravity Black Holes: Extended Comparison With Kerr Black Hole

In this paper, we investigate energy extraction via the Comisso-Asenjo (CA) magnetic reconnection process near a coupled $\mathcal{N}=2,\,U(1)^2$ gauged supergravity Black Hole (BH). Our study focuses on the combined impact of the independent parameter set $p_i\in(N_g,g,v,e)$ with the spin parameter $a$ on the extracted energy ($ε_{\pm}$), efficiency ($η$), and extracted power ($\mathcal{P}_{CA}$), aiming to identify optimal combinations where energy can be extracted with higher efficiency in certain cases at lower spin $(a\sim0.39)$ than the Kerr extremal case $(a\sim1)$. Using the spacetime parameters, we explore various cases leading to distinct spacetimes and provide an extended comparison with the Kerr Black Hole (KBH). We also examine the influence of the orientation angle ($ξ$) and magnetization parameter ($σ_0$) on both efficiency and extracted power. Investigating low $[\,\forall p_i<0.2 \land N_g<0.08\,]$, mid $[\,\exists p_i\ge0.5 \land N_g\in(0.08,0.15)\,]$, high $[\,\exists p_i>0.7 \land N_g\in(0.16,0.23)\,]$, and mixed $[\,\forall p_i\in(0,1) \land N_g\in(0,0.23)\,]$ parameter combinations, we explore only extremal cases for all spacetime parameters and demonstrate that the extremal Kerr efficiency limit ($η>1.495$) can be exceeded. The statistical Kendall's Tau approach allows us to identify the key independent parameters acting as boosters or dampers in the energy extraction process and to visualize the relationship between $(N_g,g,v,e)$ and the physical outputs $(a_{\rm ext},r_E,r_{\rm ergo},ε_{\pm},η,\mathcal{P}_{CA},R_η,R_{\mathcal{P}})$. Furthermore, we show that the observable Lundquist number $S_{\rm obs}$ in rotating BH spacetimes acquires an observer-dependent angular dependence through the lapse function $(α)$. This leads to deviations from the standard Sweet-Parker scaling when expressed in terms of observable quantities.

Constraints on Schwarzschild Black Hole in a Generalized Dehnen-Type $(1,4,γ)$ Dark Matter Halo via the S2 Star Orbit around Sgr A$^\star$

The distribution of dark matter (DM) halo around supermassive black holes (BHs) may leave observable imprints on stellar dynamics near galactic centers. Motivated by this, we investigate the orbital motion of the S2 star in the spacetime of a recently derived generalized Schwarzschild BH solution embedded in a Dehnen-type $(1,4,γ)$ DM halo, considering it as a possible model for Sgr A$^{\star}$ at the center of the Milky Way. Unlike previous studies restricted to specific values of the halo parameter $γ$, the present solution describes the fully generalized case with arbitrary $γ$. We derive the corresponding equations of motion and obtain the associated perihelion shift over one orbital period. Using observational data of the S2 star, we constrain the parameters of the Schwarzschild--Dehnen BH-DM system through a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) analysis. Our results yield the best-fit values $γ= 1.18^{+1.03}_{-0.81}$ $(1.23^{+1.01}_{-0.85})$, $ρ_s = 0.37^{+0.42}_{-0.29}$ $(0.31^{+0.44}_{-0.26})$, and $r_s = 0.05^{+0.05}_{-0.03}$ $(0.14^{+0.18}_{-0.10})$ for observational data of Do et al.~\cite{Do19} and Gillessen et al.~\cite{Gillessen17ApJ}, respectively. We further obtain the corresponding 95\% confidence upper bounds: $γ< 2.66$ $(2.67)$, $ρ_s < 0.93$ $(0.92)$, and $r_s < 0.16$ $(0.52)$. These results demonstrate that precise stellar orbit measurements can provide meaningful constraints on the DM halo distributions surrounding supermassive BHs and may offer insights into the DM environment of Sgr A$^{\star}$ at the center of the Milky Way.

Observational Signatures of Exact Black Hole Solutions in a Dark Matter Halo

In this work, we derive novel exact solutions describing Schwarzschild-like black holes (BHs) embedded in a Dehnen-type dark matter (DM) halo density profile and investigate their geometric, dynamical, and observational signatures arising from such geometries. We begin by analyzing the horizon structure and spacetime curvature invariants, as well as examining the energy conditions associated with the DM halo. Subsequently, we study the influence of the DM halo on both timelike and null geodesics in the resulting geometry. Finally, we obtain observational constraints on the DM halo parameters by comparing the model predictions with weak-field data from Mercury and the S2 star orbit, as well as strong-field observations from the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), GRAVITY, and combined (EHT+GRAVITY) datasets for M87* and Sgr A*, employing Bayesian inference and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods to determine the best-fit values and corresponding upper limits of the model parameters. Our analysis provides valuable insight into probing the potential influence of DM halo environments on spacetime geometry and observable properties of astrophysical BHs, offering an alternative perspective on BH-DM interactions.

Magnetic Modification of Black Hole Photospheres with Image Contraction, Efficiency Shifts and Redshift Boosts in Schwarzschild-Bertotti-Robinson Spacetime

We investigate the optical and radiative signatures of an accretion disk around a Schwarzschild black hole (BH) immersed in a uniform magnetic field. The spacetime geometry is described by the Schwarzschild-Bertotti-Robinson (SBR) metric, which represents the non-rotating sector of the recently discovered Kerr-Bertotti-Robinson exact solution to the Einstein-Maxwell equations. We begin with the study of null geodesics and demonstrate that the self-consistent magnetic field fundamentally alters photon propagation, causing an expansion of light bundles relative to the Schwarzschild case due to modified initial conditions in the orbital equation. We then compute the magnetic field-dependent shifts of key characteristic radii: the event horizon ($r_h$), photon sphere ($r_{ph}$), and innermost stable circular orbit ($r_{ISCO}$). We find that all three increase monotonically with field strength $B$, revealing a magnetic amplification of the effective gravitational field. For $B=0.05$, we find that the lensed emission bands contract to a narrower impact parameter range, $b\in(4.976,5.149)\cup(5.19,6.128)$. Employing ray-tracing formalism, we construct observed accretion disk images and quantify magnetic modifications, showing that the direct image contracts while maximum energy flux, radiation temperature, and redshift factor are enhanced. Complementing these numerical findings, we develop an analytical framework for the accretion disk dynamics. We derive the modified Keplerian frequency $Ω_K$, along with the specific energy $E$ and angular momentum $L$ for circular orbits. From these, we obtain the exact ISCO radius $r_{\text{ISCO}}$, which shows an outward shift. This outward shift reveals that the radiative efficiency decreases dramatically with increasing magnetic field strength $B$. For $β= BM \sim 0.1$, the efficiency drops by approximately $91\%$.

Energy extraction from a rotating Buchdahl star via magnetic reconnection

In this work, we investigate the magnetic reconnection (MR) process as a mechanism for energy extraction from a rapidly rotating Buchdahl star (BS), one of the most compact horizonless objects that can, in principle, possess a spin parameter exceeding the extremal limit of a black hole (BH). We explore the energetics of the BS by focusing on the newly proposed MR mechanism developed by Comisso and Asenjo (the Comisso-Asenjo mechanism). Within this framework, we evaluate the energy extraction efficiency and the associated power output from a rapidly rotating BS. We show that the ergoregion of the BS exists only when the spin parameter satisfies $β>1/\sqrt{2}$. Consequently, the extraction of rotational energy through MR becomes possible only under this condition. Furthermore, we analyze the rate of energy extraction driven by fast magnetic reconnection and compare the resulting power with that predicted by the Blandford-Znajek mechanism. Our results indicate that the energy extraction rate increases significantly when the BS spin parameter exceeds the extremal limit for a BH, highlighting that MR can be substantially more efficient than the Blandford-Znajek mechanism. We demonstrate that MR can greatly enhance energy extraction efficiency from rapidly rotating BS with a large spin, making such an object potentially more efficient engines of high-energy astrophysical processes than BH.

Probing Kerr black hole in a uniform Bertotti-Robinson magnetic field through astrophysical quasi-periodic oscillations

In this study, the behavior of high-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) is investigated around a Kerr black hole immersed in a uniform Bertotti-Robinson magnetic field. The motion of the test particle is analyzed by determining the geodesic equations and evaluating the corresponding orbital, radial, and vertical epicyclic frequencies. These fundamental frequencies are used to construct the theoretical framework of QPO models based on parametric and forced resonance mechanisms. Observational data obtained from several black hole X-ray binaries (GRO J1655-40, XTE J1550-564, XTE J1859+226, GRS 1915+105, H1743-322, M82~X-1, and Sgr~A$^{*}$) are used to constrain the black hole parameters through Bayesian inference and Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) analyses. For the X-ray binaries GRO J1655-40, GRS 1915+105, H1743-322, and M82~X-1, nonzero values of the dimensionless parameter $b=Bm$ are obtained at the $68\%$ confidence level within the framework of the parametric resonance model, while only upper bounds at the $90\%$ confidence level are obtained for the remaining sources. In contrast, in the case of the forced resonance model, only an upper bound at the $90\%$ confidence interval is obtained for the magnetic field parameter for all considered X-ray binary sources. The analysis indicates that the value of the magnetic field parameter is small but not negligible, producing minor modifications to particle dynamics and epicyclic frequencies. The influence of the magnetic field is further examined through the properties of the innermost stable circular orbit and the radiative properties of the thin accretion disk, including the energy flux and temperature profiles, within the allowed parameter range inferred from the MCMC analysis.

New analytical model of static black hole with a dark matter halo and parametric constraints through quasiperiodic oscillations

A novel analytical Schwarzschild-like black hole (BH) solution is derived. It exhibits a static BH with a dark matter (DM) halo characterized by a Dehnen-type density profile. This solution could represent an alternative perspective on the interaction of black hole-dark matter systems, providing new insights into the fundamental properties of DM halos. We study the properties of the newly derived BH solution by examining its spacetime curvature characteristics and energy conditions, providing insights into how the DM halo influences these fundamental characteristics. Additionally, we analyze the timelike geodesics of test particles in the obtained BH-DM spacetime, highlighting how the presence of the novel Dehnen-type DM halo alters the gravitational dynamics and modifies particle trajectories. Increase of the DM halo's density $ρ_s$ and characteristic scale $r_s$ leads to an outward shift of both stable and unstable circular orbits. Finally, we test our model by fitting it to real data from the microquasars GRO J1655-40, GRS 1915+105, and XTE J1550-564 using a statistical Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method. This allows us to find the best estimates for the properties of the DM halo surrounding these systems.

Thermodynamic and observational implications of black holes in toroidal geometry

We investigate the thermodynamic and observational implications for the charged torus-like black holes, a class of solutions distinct from the classical Schwarzschild black holes. We explicitly derive the fundamental thermodynamic properties, such as heat capacity, P-V diagram, isothermal compressibility, Helmholtz free energy, and Gibbs free energy, under different entropy models. We find that only the exponential corrected entropy demonstrates multiple phase transitions, which we validate with the Ricci Scalar divergence obtained from the Ruppeiner formalism. This indicates that exponential corrected entropy is more sensitive to BH's microstructure as compared to the Hawking-Bekenstein and Rènyi entropy models. In addition, we study the sparsity and emission rates of Hawking radiation, demonstrating that exponential correction entropy yields more consistent and stable behavior. In our observational analysis, we graphically demonstrate the behavior of redshift, blueshift, and gravitational shift, and identify specific conditions where the photon sphere radius exceeds the innermost stable circular orbit radius, which depends on the values of parameters such as electric charge and cosmological constant. The novel insight of this work is that despite this violation, our computed redshift, blueshift, and gravitational shifts fall within the range of the observational data of NGC 4258 and UGC 3789.

Probing quantum corrected black hole through astrophysical tests with the orbit of S2 star and quasiperiodic oscillations

In this study, we explore the influence of the quantum correction parameter $ξ$ on the motion of particles and the properties of quasiperiodic oscillations (QPOs) around a quantum-corrected black hole (QCBH). We first analyze the geodesics of a test particle and derive weak-field constraints on parameter $ξ$ from the perihelion precession of orbits, using observations from the Solar System and the S2 star's orbit around $\text{SgrA}^\star$ supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy. We obtain $ξ\leq 0.01869$ and $ξ\leq 0.73528$ using the analysis of Solar System observations and the orbit of the S2 star around $\text{SgrA}^\star$, respectively. In the strong-field regime, we examine the dynamics of epicyclic motion around astrophysical black holes and, using observational data from four QPO sources and the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method, we determine the upper constraint $ξ\leq 2.086$. Our results provide new insights into the effects of quantum corrections on black hole spacetimes and highlight the potential of QPOs as a probe for testing quantum gravity in astrophysical environments.

New analytical model of rotating black hole with dark matter halo: constraints from EHT observations and accretion disk

In this paper, we start from a static black hole (BH) immersed in a Deanne-type dark matter (DM) halo and employ the Newman-Janis algorithm (NJA) to generate the rotating black hole solution with a dark matter halo. Also, we have checked the validity of the obtained space-time. Then we study optical properties of newly obtained rotating BH in DM halo, including the shadow's geometrical shape, deflection angle of light based Ono, Ishihara and Asada (OID) method, photon sphere and the dependence of the shadow radius on DM parameters. Additionally, assuming that spacetime of a supermassive black hole (SMBH) is described by the newly obtained rotating BH solution, we analyze the parameters of the model with shadow size estimates based on the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) and Gravity collaboration observations of M87* and Sgr A* SMBHs. Then we have used Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) analysis to constrain DM parameters $ρ_s$, $r_s$ and BH mass M, BH spin a, also we show that best-fit values for the parameters $ρ_s$, $r_s$ are well agreement with previous results which indicate physically reasonability of the our model. Finally, we have analyzed the electromagnetic radiation flux of the rotating BH in the DM halo employing a ray tracing code.
